1. OBJECT
This norme defines the general requirements concerning steel flat products, non alloy or alloy, hot or cold rolled
delivered in the from of sheets or coils.
It also applies to slit strip and sheet delivered in rolls or bars.
The metallurgical requirements and tests (former paragraph 6) are defined in the specific norme B53 3055.
2. GENERAL CONDITIONS
2.1 SUPPLIER’S RESPONSIBILITY
The supplier must acknowledge receipt of this norme, to the Automobile Companies concerned, within a maximum
period of one month, calculated from the date of despatch. In the case of non-compliance with this clause, the later
will be considered as being accepted by him.
It also applies to all specific normes concerning the different grades mentioned on the order. The supplier must
ensure, at least once a year, that the document in his possession is updated for a particular grade. If this is not the
case, he makes a request to the Procurement Department of the Group. The products must be in conformity with this
norme and with the normes specific to each grade considered.
The supplier must control his manufacturing process thoroughly and set up the quality organisation necessary to
obtain a product conforming in every aspect to the requirement of these normes.

2.2 PRODUCT APPROVAL
Products must be the subject of an approval from the Technical Services of the Group:
No despatch of a product modified by a new method of manufacture, a change to the protection oil or made by
another production unit of the supplier must be carried out without prior agreement with these departments.
Important: confirmation in writing of the agreement must be sent by DETA to the supplier before delivery.
2.3 INSPECTION OF PRODUCTS
The Automobile Companies concerned reserve the right to carry out inspection on delivery judged to be necessary:
any sample not conforming to the normes entails the suspension of use of the batch, with a view to carry out
additional examinations.
Within the framework of the Supplier Quality Assurance, Audit calls may take place at any time to ensure that the
surveillance plan set up is observed.
3. REQUIREMENTS FOR PURCHASE AND PROCUREMENT
3.1 ORDERS AND DELIVERY PROGRAMMES
Our orders lay down our general conditions of purchase and commercial conditions for our requests.
Quantities and deliveries of supplies are determined:
• either on closed orders,
• or on a delivery programme made further to our open orders stipulating the quantities, months, weeks or days
of delivery. These programmes specify our firm commitments and a forecast.
3.2 DELIVERY DATES AND QUANTITIES
Delivery dates indicated on the order or programme apply to the date of arrival at the destination by the agreed
method of transport.
It is imperative to observe the requirements for the day and week of delivery.
Measured tonnages must be balanced to the nearest tonne or number of sheets by carrying over deficiencies or
excesses over from one batch to the next. Tonnages rejected by ourselves are replaced only at our request.
3.3 DOCUMENTS TO ACCOMPANY THE DELIVERY
3.3.1 DELIVERY NOTE
The delivery note, in a plastic envelope must accompany each truck load, and must be located in a place where it
can be easily collected by the operator or handed over to the truck driver.
Each delivery note must indicate:
• the name of the supplier and his supplier code,
• the despatching plant,
• the date of despatch,
• the correct invoice number,
• the truck or wagon number,
• the destination of the despatch including the consignee store number,
• the order number,
• the wording on the order or programme: grade, dimensions,
• the material code,
• the batch reference and the cast number,
• the weight and details of each load,
• the delivery details not specified in the normes: agreed deviation, change in manufacture, name and address of
the consignee of a test batch, etc.
The delivery note number must appear on the invoice.

3.3.2 INSPECTION CERTIFICATES
Upon special request, the supplier will send to the requester of the Automobile Plant, the inspection and tests reports
specified in the normes and, if applicable, other tests mutually agreed.
3.4 DISPUTES
The supplies must conform to normes concerning general, technical and dimensional requirements and to normes
specific to the grade considered. Supplies not conforming or exhibiting defects of any harmful nature to the normal
use of the products, either on arrival at the plant or during manufacture are the subject of a dispute.
In this case, the supplier is advised and must come to the site and discuss the anomalies.
3.4.1. THE MATERIAL IS USEABLE
In this case, payment is made in accordance with the the procedure for the settlement of disputes from the
Procurement Department of the Group.
3.4.2 THE TYPE OF DEFECTS ALLOWING PARTIAL USE OF THE SHEET METAL INVOLVING SELECTION
OR
REWORK
In this case, expenses incurred for these operations are settled according to the procedure on re-invoicing suppliers
from the Procurement Department of the Group.
4. CONDITIONS OF DELIVERY
4.1 DEFINITION OF A BATCH
For flat products for pressing, in extra mild steel or in micro-alloy steel, each batch consists of homogeneous
products of the same dimensions which have been subjected to the same heat (example: annealing) and mechanical
treatments.
For other grades, and in particular those intended for heat treatment, each batch must have originated from the same
cast and have been subjected to the same heat treatment.
A batch is considered to have been subjected to the same heat treatment:
• in the case of a continuous furnace: if the treatment cycle is identical for the duration of manufacture and if
there has not been any modification in adjustment or any discontinuity.
• in the case of a discontinuous furnace: if it originates from the same furnace load.

4.2 FINISHING
4.2.1 MARKING OF PRODUCTS
4.2.1.1 Wide strip in coil or sheet
To ensure the traceability of products after cutting into blanks, the wide bands in coils or sheets, must carry the
legible, characteristic marks below on one of its faces :
• identification of the supplier
• coil number ,
• product designation according to PSA coding.
• the exact length at metre intervals (or in fractions of a metre)
These indications are printed with a non corrosive ink, indelible to the weather conditions and to oil.
The ink must be compatible with subsequent ranges of surface preparations and must be totally eliminated during
surface treatment operations before painting.
The marking is carried out along the centre line of the strip and is continuous from the first to the last turn.
The distance between two markings must not exceed 0,50m.
Example :
- Nom Fournisseur No Bobine XES 1250 - Nom Fournisseur No Bobine XES 1300 -
<------------------------0,50 m ------------------------> <------------------------0,50 m ------------------------->
It is carried out :
• on the face not required for products of surface appearance Z coated and non coated,
• on the coated face for products of surface appearance X coated on 1 face.
User workshops must take measures during manufacturing operations to provide identification of blanks in the case
of disputes.
Furthermore, each coil must be identified by at least two bar code labels conforming to the GALIA standard.
4.2.1.2 Slit strip and strip
Direct marking on the products is not imposed. Each load must be identified by bar code labels conforming to the
GALIA standard.
Note : In the case where the load consists of several rolls, each roll must be identified by a label detailing the quality,
the number of the original coil and the format.

4.2.2. PROTECTION AGAINST CORROSION
Oiling: Unless otherwise stated on the order, all flat products must be oiled.
The two surfaces must be covered with a film of oil uniformly distributed over the width of the strip.
The weight in grams of oil on each face must be between 1,5 and 2 g/m2 at the time of application measured
according to méthode d’essai D65 5353.
The oil used is that approved by the technical departments of the group and complying with cahier des charges on
OILS FOR PROTECTION OF FLAT PRODUCTS.
All modifications must be the subject of a request to the laboratory of the group concerned.
This protection in normal conditions of transport, handling and storage must guarantee products which do not exhibit
traces of oxidation within a period of 3 months calculated from the date of availability in plant with the initial
packaging.
This protection must not hinder subsequent manufacturing operations (pressing, handling, welding, washing, painting,
bonding, etc. . . .).
4.3. PACKAGING
4.3.1 PACKING
The choice of packing is set by prior agreement with the consignee plant and specified with the order.
This choice must conform to the following GALIA standards.
• coils: EMB.2,
• slit strips: EMB.3
These standards define the functions to be provided as regards preservation of the coil or load and protection against
marks and oxidation.
4.3.2 LABELS
These must conform to GALIA standard: ETI.1.
4.3.3 WEIGHT
The maximum weight of coils and rolls are set by preliminary agreement and specified on the order or on a special
document.
The normal weight of a coil or roll is between 90% an 100% of the maximum agreed weight.
The coils or rolls of lower weight, between 75% and 90% of the maximum agreed weight, may be accepted up to
20% maximum per delivery.
4.3.4 PROJECTIONS OVER EDGES
Cold rolled products
Projections over edges are restricted to 0,5% of the width of the strip.
The coil to coil projection must be less than:
• 3 mm for all products
Folded edges, detachable particles and tearing of metal are prohibited.
Hot rolled products
Projections over edges are limited:
• 40 mm in total,
• to 10 mm maximum per group of adjoining coils.
Note : Engagement of coils and rolls on the cutting line must not be hindered by a possible weakening
or distortion of the internal coil (typical example: mandrel folds); also by a folded tongue.

4.4 LOADING
The arrangement of packets, loads or coils on wagons, trucks or trailers must allow easy and speedy unloading,
without risk of damage to the products supplied.
The loading clauses may be specified by individual agreement.
Wagons with sliding roofs must be used in preference. When the means of transport are uncovered, they must be
carefully covered with tarpaulin so as to avoid any contact between the tarpaulin and the products.
4.4.1 COILS
It is essential that coils are supplied with their axes in horizontal position. It is recommended that special wagons
made available to the suppliers by the French Railways (SNCF) be used.
4.4.2 ROLLS
The load or rolls must be carefully chocked in wagons or trucks, at their ends or sides, in order to prevent
displacement on the floor in the case of normal impact.
Unless otherwise specified on the order, the roll loads are supplied with their axes vertical.
4.4.3 SHEETS AND BARS
Packets must be arranged in the same conditions.
