The word that cleanses

THE SONG THAT IDENTIFIES MY LIFE

INTRODUCTION

Every young person can lead a clean life when they DECIDE: SEEK God wholeheartedly, LIVE
according to the Word and to REJOICE in walking the path of TRUTH.

It has been concluded, starting froḿ verse 9, that the author of this psalm was a young person. It may be, without
embargo, this allusion reflects
́ the interest of
́ the wise teachers in the well-being
́ of the youth
From the nation.
́ Young or old, in any case, the PATH of any man or woman is cleansed by the
keep the word of God in your heart (9–11). ́

Moffatt's translation
́ is clear and has a lot of strength: 'Staying true to ́ your word.'
Do not let me stray means: 'Do not let me make a mistake out of ignorance or distraction ́ (v. 67, 19:12).
My intentionś are good, but my knowledge is imperfect and my strength is little. The little confidence in oneself. ́
"The same thing that reveals thé second line is a test of the reality of the first" (Anglen).

With what will the young clean their path? The well-being of the youth. The interest of the teachers
Hold your word. On wisdom in the well-being of young people.
What is a path?
10 With all my heart I have sought you; Seek the help of God
Do not let me deviate from your commandments. To not stray from the path.

11
In my heart I have kept your words, Make a DECISION.
To sin against you. Not to sin against God.
12 Blessed are you, oh Jehovah;
Show me your statutes. I want to learn.

The will of God and His Word not only serve to clear the way; they are also a reason for ́
joy for the heart. The statutes
́ (commandments, 13), the testimonies (14), commandments and
The paths (15) and the words (16) of Jehovah́ are JOY AND DELIGHT for the heart of́ the servant of God.

With my lips, I have counted

All the judgments of your mouth.

14 I have delighted in the path of your testimonies.
More than all wealth.
15 I will meditate on your commandments;
Consider these paths.
16
I will enjoy your statutes;
I will not forget your words.
9-16 Bet. The heart́ absorbed.

Alef expressed ́ longing (5), but the practical way ́ to move forward is to focus that longing on the
word of God and in the Lord ̃ himself (10, 12). The case of a young man is presented, that is, a situatioń in
that the life of purity is constantly
́ expressed. The possibility of a pure life depends on the
directioń of will (10), the contents of the mind and memory (11), the concerns of
mouth (13) and of emotions (14, 16), the subjects of thought (15, 16).

The exterior life (path) emanates from inner factors, all absorbed in the word and focused on
The Lord
̃ in praise and instruction
́ (12).

Vs. 9 With what,

́ a practical question:
́ "How?" The
́ problem is external (9), but the answer
(10-16) is internal.

Vs. 10 The deliberate

́ direction (I have sought) of the heart (the
́ whole inner being) turning towards
́ God
and thé practice of the specific
́ prayer.

Verse 11 The heart

́ filled with the word is the antidote
́ against sin.

Vs. 13 The verse

́ begins with human lips and ends with the divine mouth: whether we speak alone
or with others, our conversation overflows
́ with what God has spoken.

Up to this point, the main verbs have been 'perfects of decision' ('I am determined
́ to
search... save... count... enjoy." Parallel thoughts are now poured into a sentence: ́
Oh, please, let me meditate...
́ consider.

Our commitments must be saturated with prayer. 16 A silent

́ resolution is based on a ́
appropriate use of emotions and memory(16).

The heart is the helm of the person, from there all of life is directed.
