PRIESTHOOD OF AARON
In the Old Testament, there was an order called the 'priestly order of the lineage of
Aaron. For those who do not know the story well, when the people of Israel left
from Egypt, they were around three million people, and were heading to the land
promised. From Mount Sinai, God called Moses and gave him the ten
commandments, the tablets of the law; there the Lord gave him orders, statutes, and laws to
Israel. And at that time, he chose one of the twelve tribes of Israel, so that it could
in charge of a special task.
When the conquest of the promised land was made, all the tribes had
heritage, except for one. There was a tribe that was not allocated territory either.
neither goods nor possessions were given to them. This was the tribe of Levi. God set them apart and them
sanctified so that they may be consecrated and dedicated to the tasks of the temple, like the
religious celebrations. From the tribe of Levi were the singers, those who played
instruments, those that cut wood to make the sacrifices, were the ones that
they sacrificed animals on the altar; and from that tribe were the priests and the high priests
priests. Those from that tribe were the ones who took care of the temple, although it was not yet
not a fixed temple in the desert but a tabernacle, a tent made of leather,
designed by God. Then the tribe of Levi was in charge of assembling and
dismantle the tabernacle and the utensils of the temple; the altar where
they also sacrificed animals. The tribe of Levi had been set apart to
do only that. God told them: 'You will not have an inheritance because
"I am your inheritance." God did not give them goods or lands, but He gave them as a task.
receive the tithes and offerings from the eleven tribes. That is, the tribe of Levi.
he lived off the offerings and tithes that the other tribes offered.
Now, from the tribe of Levi there was a special man that God chose and that was
Aaron. God decided that the priests would not only be from the tribe of Levi,
but they would be of the lineage of Aaron. So the sons of Aaron were priests, and
his descendants after them. The priests had something much more special
what to do with the rest of the Levites. The Levites were to ensure that there was no shortage of oil.

sacrifices. But they were within the tribe of Levi, a special family or lineage. Only
He who was of the lineage of Aaron could be a priest or high priest.
KINGS
When we talk about kings, we talk about authority, about dominion, the capacity to
to conquer, to go to war to govern and conquer.
The king exercised broad powers and influence in civil, military, and religious matters.
He was considered as the supreme judicial authority (2 S. 14:4, 15; 15:2: 2 R. 3:16-
28), and held the power of life and death (1 Kings 1:51, 52). He was also the commander
of his armies (1 Sam. 8:20; 1 Kings 12:21-24; 2 Chronicles 32:2, 3; cf. Genesis 14:5; Numbers 21:23), and
he made military alliances without consulting his people (1 Kings 15:18, 19).

1 Samuel 13:9-13 Reina-Valera 1960 (RVR1960)

9Then Saul said: Bring me burnt offerings and peace offerings. And he offered the
holocaust.
10And when he had just offered the burnt offering, behold, Samuel was coming; and Saul

He went out to greet him.

11Then Samuel said: What have you done? And Saul answered: Because I saw that the
the town was deserted, and that you did not come within the specified time, and that the
the Philistines were gathered in Michmash,
12I said to myself: Now the Philistines will descend upon me at Gilgal, and I have not implored.
the favor of the Lord. I made an effort, therefore, and offered a burnt offering.
13Then Samuel said to Saul: You have acted foolishly; you did not keep the commandment.
command of the Lord your God that he had commanded you; for now the Lord
I would have confirmed your kingdom over Israel forever.
In the old covenant, we find that kings could not play the role of the
priests and likewise the priests could not assume the role of kings,
since each person had a different characteristic and function.

PRIESTHOOD OF MELCHIZEDEK
Abraham is the father of the Hebrews, and from Abraham arise the twelve tribes that
they would later form the people of Israel. But at that time when Abraham
there was only one and he didn't even have children, a significant event occurred. He had a
nephew named Lot who went extending until he reached the city of Sodom.
Then there was a war in which four kings fought against five kings,
among them was the king of Sodom. He was defeated and they were seized.
the men and women were robbed of their livestock, and they took everything that was there
city. The king of Sodom could not defend himself and when he fled he fell into a well.
asphalt. Abram heard that his relative was imprisoned, and he armed his servants, the
born in her home and went to retrieve her nephew. God gave her victory and a great
booty, and recovered all the goods, and also Lot his relative and his goods, and to the
women and other people.
When Abraham was returning with the loot, he had a very special encounter with someone.
called Melchizedek. This is where the story I want to tell you begins. We read
in Genesis 14:17 and onwards: 'When he returned from the defeat of'
Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of
Sodom to receive him in the valley of Save, which is the Valley of the King. Then
Melchizedek, king of Salem and priest of the Most High God, brought out bread and
wine..."Abraham encountered a priest named Melchizedek who also
he was king of Salem. From this term comes the word Shalom and from there it later comes the
the word Jerusalem, composed of the term ieru or city and shalem which means
peace, city of peace. Shalom is peace, and concerning the king of Salem, it means, king of
peace.
Abraham, then, met this king Melchizedek, but in addition to being king
he was a priest of the Most High God. According to the priestly order of Aaron, these things
they were not possible, because the priesthood was designated only for the lineage of
Aaron. No descendant of his could be king. No Levite could be king.
because God chose them for the tasks of the temple and the religious celebrations.
A king could not be a priest and no priest could be a king. It was the tribe of
Judah, who possessed the scepter of power. King David was from the tribe of Judah; and from that
the tribe were the majority of the kings of Israel: David, Solomon, Jeroboam,
Rehoboam, etc., all of them descendants of Judah. The king who wanted to usurp the
priesthood, died. King Saul, who was from the tribe of Benjamin, wanted to officiate as
the priest and God rejected him, then he died in a war. Then God raised up
after him, to David as king.

The conclusion from reading the scriptures is that Melchizedek is truly a man.
what goes unnoticed. How much do we know about this man? We know
very little or nothing about him. We know a lot about Abraham, but
a man appeared who was much more important than him, and he was the one who blessed
Abraham saying: "Blessed be Abram of the Most High God, creator of the
heavens and the earth; and blessed be the Most High God, who delivered your
enemies in your hand. And Abram gave him the tithes of everything" (Genesis
14.19 and 20).

When the king functions, great successes can be seen, but it does not manifest the
glory of God... When a priest functions, the glory of God is manifested, but
outside we have few results.

But we see the case of David who knew how to be king and priest

before God.
He would conquer, and then he would enter the temple and sing.

The Bible teaches us that when Jesus died on the cross of Calvary, the veil that
the holy place from the Most Holy Place was torn in two in Matthew 27:51 and
that now Jesus is our high priest who intercedes for us before
of the father.

The apostle Paul declared: "But being already present Christ, chief
priest of the coming goods, by the broadest and most perfect
tabernacle, not made with hands, that is, not of this creation, and not
not by the blood of male goats or calves, but by his own
blood, entered once and for all into the Most Holy Place, having
obtained eternal redemption... Because Christ did not enter the sanctuary
made by hand, figure of the true, but in the sky itself for
to present ourselves now before God” (Hebrews 9).

Jesus Christ done once and for all.
11Andcertainly, every priest is ministering day by day and offering many

sins, he has sat at the right hand of God,
