Differences
Some of the differences that exist between the concepts of effectiveness, efficiency, and
productivity are:
Effectiveness does not consider thesavingsof resources nor of their care, as it does with the
efficiency.
Although the definitions of effectiveness and efficiency consider the achievement of goals
within certain deadlines, efficiency means achieving goals as quickly as possible
possible and spending the least amount of necessary resources. In effectiveness, the time and
the use of resources is set aside.
Efficiency and effectiveness are two qualitative concepts, while productivity is
a quantitative concept.
Efficiency requires effectiveness.
One can be productive but ineffective, or one can be effective and unproductive.
Productivity is a magnitude that describes the activity of a company while
that efficiency is an attribute that a process can or cannot have.
Efficiency is linked to quality while productivity is linked to quantity.
Efficiency focuses on how to produce a good, effectiveness on the ability to
produce it.
