News From Room 207

Week of 11/19/12
Thank you to everyone who helped to make our Thanksgiving Food Drive such a success. Our class collected many cans to help families in need over Thanksgiving. On Monday afternoon at 1:00PM, we will have our Metric Olympics. I have two volunteers so far but we are still looking for two more volunteers to help. Please let me know ASAP if you can help us out. It is sure to be an exciting event. Please note the date change of our Rock Cycle test. The test will be on Tuesday morning. Additionally, we will have a math facts check-in on Tuesday. As the weather becomes increasingly colder, please be sure your children are dressed appropriately for outside recess. Your children should have on at least a sweatshirt if they wish to go outside for recess. I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving break. I am heading to West Hartford to visit with my husbands family. Wish, Hope, Dream and then Make it

Snack/Recess daily at ~10:45am Lunch 12:05-12:40pm

English Language Arts We will finish up our State License Plates this week and read over several different Thanksgiving Readers Theater scripts. We will also write a persuasive essay from the turkeys point of view. Read Aloud Our two stories are finally beginning to connect. It looks like Bens grandmother is the girl from the earlier story. Unfortunately, we still have not met Bens father yet. We should finish up this week. Science Our Rock Cycle check in will be on 11/20/12. A study guide came home last week. Our next unit will be on soil.

Math We will review our Unit 4 test this week and check in on our math facts. If your children received below a 4 on their open response, they will need to redo it for homework. As always, your children should be practicing their math facts as often as time allows. Social Studies We will begin looking at our Artifact Museum project this week. During the project, we will focus on the history of our families and share artifacts from our ancesters.
