SCHOLARS CUP RULEBOOK

Objective:
Scholars cup is aimed at improving the overall skills of students, including
Communication skills, Verbal skills, Technical skills, Presentation skills,
Management skills, and Leadership qualities.
The event will also be a check of the knowledge about the world and making
them learn the various aspects of engineering, life skills and political
sciences.
The common guidelines for the events are1.

The team should have 10 members.


There should be a minimum of 3 first years in every team.
The registration fees for the event is ` 500.
The team cannot be changed once the payment is done.

Elimination Rules:
1. There are a total of 47 teams registered for the competition.
2. Based on the total scores of the teams on first day, top 30 teams will
advance to the next day.
3. After the competitions on second day, top 20 teams will advance to the
final day.
4. After the UN Meet on morning of 3rd day, top 10 teams will gear up for
a clash in Court Session.
5. All the teams will be participating in the fashion show, including 2
members essentially from each team.
6. Separate awards will also be given for the fashion show, and the scores
of finalist 10 teams clubbed up for the final result.
7. The cumulative scores of all events will be considered for elimination
on any successive days, i.e. for elimination on second day, the
cumulative scores of events on first and second day both will be taken
into consideration.

QUIZZES
Objective:
1. This event aims at checking the students knowledge about the
relevant fields, scope not limited to just the engineering knowledge.
The fields include Sports, history, etc.
2. The event also aims at improving the management skills of the
students.

Structure:
1. There will be a total of 5 quizzes. Each consisting of 30 questions, thus
a total of 150 questions.
2. Each correct answer will fetch 4 marks, while every incorrect answer
will lead to negative marking of 1.
3. No deduction of marks for unattempted questions.
4. The areas covered under the quiz are:
a. Quiz A: History of world and India.
b. Quiz B: Sports, recent discoveries and inventions.
c. Quiz C: World celebrity talks, movie world, and world cuisine.
d. Quiz D: World politics and Geography.
e. Quiz E: Engineering and architectural improvements around the
world.

Rules:
1. Each quiz will be held over a span of 20 minutes, which includes 5
minutes of only reading time.
2. 2 members from each team has to appear in the quiz, a single member
will not be allowed to participate.
3. 1 member can appear in only one quiz.
4. The total from each quiz will be added to teams total.
5. The quizzes will be held simultaneously.

MOTIVATIONAL LECTURE
1. The objective of event is to motivate the students to excel in life and
encourage them
to participate in such activities.
2. The motivational lecture will stir in the students a will to excel in the
competition and give their cent percent.
3. This event comprises of a motivational lecture by the Brahmakumaris.
4. The duration of the event will be around 1 hr. or so.

5. The teams will be awarded bonus points for the session with the
maximum awarded points being 100.
6. The points will be awarded points based on the number of members
attending the session.

PAPER PRESENTATION
Objective:
1. The competition aims to check the presentation skills of the students
and their understanding of the technological and architectural
innovations round the world.
2. The knowledge of the engineers and architects making the lives of
people better in different countries will inspire the students to work
more sincerely an effectively in their field.

Structure:
1. The competition will be held in two sessions.
2. Each team has to give a presentation on the recent technological or
architectural advancement of the country they are allotted.
3. The teams have to explain the benefits of that development in their
country and how it can be applied to other parts of the world.

Rules:
1. The teams have to submit the details of their presentation latest one
week in advance. The teams failing to submit the presentation one
week prior to the date of the event will not be allowed to appear in the
competition.
2. There should be 2 members from the team for presentation.
3. The maximum time of presentation is 10 minutes.
4. The maximum points allotted for the presentation is 200.
5. There will be negative marks for exceeding the time limit.

DEBATES
Objective:
1. The competition aims at improving the communication skills of the
students and to examine their thinking methodology in solving real life
crisis and situations.
2. The teams will learn the different ways in which a same problem needs
to be addressed in different countries.
3. The students will learn to put forward their views without confronting
any other country in any manner.

Structure:
1. There will be two debates. The topics of which will be disclosed a night
before the event.
2. There can be one person from each team in the debate.
3. The topic of debates will be based on improving the countries situation
and the teams have to provide a solution for the crisis with respect to
their country.
4. Two teams will be randomly paired up and they have to voice their
opinion.
5. There are provisions for rebuttal after the debate by the teams not
presently speaking.
6. The maximum points for each debate is 200, thus a total of 400 points
are at stake in the competition.

Rules:
1. A team can send only one member to voice the teams opinion.
2. A person can speak in only one debate.
3. A delegate has to speak for a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum
of 5 minutes. Exceeding the time limit will attract negative marking.
4. The rebuttals have to be sent to chairperson in writing, and selected
ones will be asked.
5. Asking rebuttals will provide a bonus of 30 points.
6. The teams giving better answer to the rebuttal will be provided an
extra 30 points.
7. Each team can give only realistic solutions depending on the countrys
wealth and resources.
8. No other team member is allowed to speak in between.
9. Students speaking for the country will have to come in formal wear
only.
10.
Rebuttals can be answered by any of the present team members.

The rebuttals are to be answered without any emphasis on
current problems.

TREASURE HUNT
Objective:
1. The competition aims at analyzing the aptitude skills.
2. It will also check the students quick-wit nature.

Structure:
1. Each team will be given clues which will act as checkpoints.
2. There will be a total 10 clues for each team.
3. Each team will have to submit the previous clue in order to get the
next clue.
4. The team reaching first to the final treasure chest will be the winner.
5. The winning team will be awarded 250 points.

Rules:
1. The clue will be provided only after the submission of previous clue.
2. Any team found using any unfair means will be straightaway
eliminated from the competition.
3. The team coming first will be awarded 250 points.
4. The next team 200 and 150 points to the third team.
5. The teams solving more than 5 clues will be awarded 100 points.
6. The teams solving less than 5 clues will be awarded 50 points.

UNITED NATIONS MEET


Objective:
1. The event aims at making students learn the reaction of world
communities on problems like peace and security, human rights,
environment, food and hunger, etc.
2. It aims at improving the consensus building, conflict resolution, public
speaking and many more relevant skills.
3. It aims at providing students an insight into the working and
importance of United Nations.

Structure:
1. Top 20 teams will be participating in the event.
2. There will be three committees from
a. General Assembly committees (such as DISEC, SPECPOL, and
ECOFIN)
b. Other UN bodies (such as the Security Council, the ICJ, and
ECOSOC)
c. Regional bodies (such as organs of NATO, the OAS, or the EU)
3. The teams can participate for discussion in all the three committees,
but they can present their case in only one committee.
4. The teams will have to choose among topics provided to them.
5. The maximum time for presenting the case is 5 minutes after which
the discussion will commence.
6. The maximum point allotted for each committee is 250.

An addition to an existing idea is allowed.
Each student should be in formal wear.
The order of preference for selecting topics will be based on the
cumulative points of the team, i.e. the team with maximum points will
be allowed to select the topic first.

LIVE COURT SESSION


Objective:
1. The competition aims at checking the convincing powers of a person
and how they are able to present the facts.
2. The event also aims to impart in students the need to present the right
facts and arguments at the right time.

Structure:
1. Top 10 teams will be participating in the event.
2. The teams will be randomly paired up.
3. A crime scene will be provided and the teams have to convince the
judge that his/her client is innocent or if in opposition, the client is
guilty.

Rules:
1. A maximum of 200 points will be allotted.
2. There can be maximum 3 lawyers from each team (one for argument,
one for proof presenting and a reserve lawyer).

FASHION SHOW
Objective:
1. The event aims at analyzing the creativity in the teams, the way they
can think new sustainable designs, and how they present it.
2. It aims at improving the body language and making them more
confident.

Structure:
1. All the teams will be participating in the event.
2. There will be 2 models from each team, the models should be a
member of participating team.
3. The maximum points awarded is 350 for each team.

4. In addition, there will be extra prizes based on the competition like

awarding the titles.
