Instructions for use
Surface preparation
All surfaces must be sound and thoroughly clean before
Nitotile EN is applied. All traces of grease or oil must be
removed with a chemical degreaser. All loose particles of
mortar, old wallpaper, paint etc. must be physically removed.
Description
Surfaces
Nitotile EN cementitious based powder is available in grey or
white colour.
Nitotile EN can be applied directly on concrete, cement
screeds, and cement or lime mortar. Special attention must
be given to new construction prior to commencing tiling. Tiles
should not be placed on concrete or blockwork until all
shrinkage movement has taken place.
Technical support
Fosroc offers a comprehensive technical support service to
specifiers, end users and contractors. It is also able to offer
on-site technical assistance, an AutoCAD facility and
dedicated specification assistance in locations all over the
world.
Note :
To use Nitotile EN on gypsum or gypsum board
substrates, diluted Nitobond PVA (1 : 3 with water)
should be applied to the surface of the gypsum or
gypsum board prior to application of Nitotile EN.
Mixing
Nitotile EN*
6.25 litres of water is required for each 25 kg bag of
Nitotile EN. A slow speed drill fitted with a Fosroc Mixing
Paddle (MR4) and 30 litre mixing vessel are recommended.
Add powder to water and mix for 3 minutes until a uniform and
lump-free consistency is achieved.

Application
Storage conditions
Nitotile EN should be spread on the substrate to a uniform
thickness of 2-6mm, and then combed horizontally.
Store in dry conditions in the original, unopened bags or packs.
If stored at high temperature and / or high humidity conditions
the shelf life may be reduced.
Place tiles firmly into adhesive bed, ensuring good contact
with a twisting motion. Only apply to areas which can be tiled
in the adhesives open wet time (normally up to 1m2 at a
time).
Joints
It is recommended that when fixing ceramic tiles, a minimum
spacing of 2mm be left around each tile.

Grout installation should be after a minimum of 24 hours
curing time at 25C. Grout with Nitotile XS Grout*, depending
on the floor application.
Limitations
! Nitotile EN should not be used when the temperature is
below 5C and falling.
! The product should not be exposed to moving water
during application. If any doubt arise concerning

Precautions
Health and safety
Nitotile EN contains cement powders which, when mixed
with water or upon becoming damp, release alkalis which
can be harmful to the skin.
During use, avoid inhalation of the dust and contact with the
skin or eyes. Wear suitable protective clothing - eye protection,
gloves and respiratory equipment (particularly in confined
spaces).
The use of barrier creams to provide additional skin protection
is also advised. In case of contact with the skin, rinse with
plenty of clean water, then cleanse thoroughly with soap and
water.
In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of
clean water and seek medical advice. If swallowed seek
medical attention immediately - do not induce vomiting.
