To Whom this May Concern;

I am writing this reference letter at the request of Melissa Mingo. She has asked me to write this
letter which she may show to any prospective employer who asks her for references concerning
a job as an administrator.

I have known Melissa professionally since January 2012 in my capacity as the Administrator of
Piggott Academy of International Studies. Ms. Mingo served as a student teacher in both
Special Education and as a general education classroom teacher. She later became a fifth
grade teacher at our school. In this capacity, Melissa showed professionalism, knowledge of the
education profession, and good judgment while dealing with students, staff and parents. Based
on Ms. Mingo's performance, along with her attendance and participation during staff
development (both presenting and attending) and professional meetings, I'd rate Melissa
Mingo's performance as excellent.

Ms. Mingo has assisted in leading staff in development and implementation of District and
building-level goals relating to cultural competency and student learning at the District level with
myself as well as members of the CCSD Curriculum, Planning and Professional Development
Department. Ms. Mingo was responsible for assisting with the monitoring of services for
identified students within our Response to Instruction Program (RTI), assisting with individual
teacher professional development, and professional development of the faculty. Melissa also
assisted in many tasks to help the administration such as: testing, coverage of staff and
administration when needed, and shared in a role to provide a positive climate to the staff and
students of our school.

Ms. Mingo has a number of strengths to offer any school as an administrator. She has
demonstrated successfully to work effectively with teachers to improve instruction and to
provide for the needs of students and staff. Melissa has demonstrated ability and desire to
establish positive relationships with persons regardless of race, gender, physical limitation,
sexual orientation, or religious belief, with an active commitment to equal opportunity for all
students and staff.

Ms. Mingo has demonstrated ability to foster an environment that focuses on quality results
while motivating, developing, and supporting a diverse staff, encouraging continuous
improvement, and working effectively as a member of a diverse team. Melissa possesses a
sense of vision and projects that sense, involves others in accomplishing goals and solving
problems, and interacts with diverse groups successfully.

She also has demonstrated understanding of the change process and its relationship to

allocating resources, reaching logical conclusions and making high-quality decisions using
appropriate decision-making processes, and accepting responsibility for actions and
consequences. Melissa has established effectiveness representing our school in the
community through business partnerships and activities. These attributes would serve Melissa
well in the position of administrator.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend Ms. Melissa Mingo. If her performance in our
school is any indication of how she'd perform as an administrator in a school, Melissa would
be a positive educational leader capable of leading a diverse staff, student body, and the
community in development and implementation of building-level goals focused on the
improvement of student learning .
