EASY

1. Bivouac
Definition: a temporary camp without tents or cover, used especially by soldiers or
mountaineers.
Sentence: Hed bivouacked on the north side of the town

2. Ditto
Definition: used in accounts and lists to indicate that an item is repeated (often indicated
by a ditto mark under the word or figure to be repeated)
Sentence: When I asked the waiter to substitute carrots with broccoli with my dinners, both
kids said, ditto in unison.

3. Whimsical
Definition: playfully quaint or fanciful, especially in an appealing and amusing way.
Sentence: She has a whimsical sense of humor

4. Denouement
Definition: the final part of a play, movie, or narrative in which the strands of the plot are
drawn together and matters are explained or resolved.
Sentence: The denouement of the play was boring.

5. Embarrassment
Definition: a feeling of self-consciousness, shame, or awkwardness
Sentence: I turned red with embarrassment.

6. Pique
Definition: A feeling of irritation or resentment resulting from a slight, especially to ones
pride.
Sentence: He left in a fit of pique.

7. Louis Vuitton
Definition: Louis Vuitton is one of the worlds leading international fashion houses; it sells
products through boutiques, high-end department stores and through e-commerce section
of its website.
Sentence: Martha has a collection of Louis Vuitton bags
AVERAGE

1. Volkswagen
Definition: It is a German automaker founded by the German Labour Front and is the
largest automaker worldwide.
Sentence: Volkswagen is German for peoples car

2. Xanthosis
Definition: yellow discoloration of the skin from abnormal causes
Sentence: The dog has xanthosis on his paw.

3. Ineffable
Definition: too great or extreme to be expressed or described in words
Sentence: When Toby saw his fiance walking down the church aisle, he experienced an
ineffable feeling.

4. Bienvenue
Definition: It means welcome in French
Sentence: Bienvenue said the woman as she hugged me.

5. Ghetto
Definition: a part of a city, especially a slum area, occupied by a minority group or groups
Sentence: Three-fourths of the apartments in the ghetto had no heat.

6. Seraglio
Definition: A seraglio or serail is the sequestered living quarters used by wives and
concubines in an Ottoman household.
Sentence: The seraglio we visited wasnt luxurious after all.
DIFFICULT
1. Schadenfreude
Definition: the enjoyment obtained from the troubles of others
Sentence: Researchers figure out why, in some cases, we experience schadenfreude, or joy in
the misfortune of others

2. Vivisepulture
Definition: the act or practice of burying alive.
Sentence: The punishment for the crime was vivisepulture.

3. Pulchritude
Definition: physical beauty
Sentence: If someone comments on the pulchritude of your face, you shouldn't be
offended.

4. Borborygmus
Definition: intestinal rumbling caused by moving gas
Sentence: Expressed a strong desire to evacuate his bowels; the borborygmus being distinct
to all in the room

5. Hennes and Mauritz


Definition: Hennes & Mauritz AB is a Swedish multinational clothing-retail company,
known for its fast-fashion clothing for men, women, teenagers and children. It is famously
known as H&M.
Sentence: Hennes and Mauritz (H&M) had a big sale last December.

6. Bourgeosie
Definition: members of the middle class
Sentence: Instead of overthrowing the bourgeoisie, the proletariat had joined it.

7. Metanoia
Definition: a transformative change of heart; especially : a spiritual conversion
Sentence: What he demanded of people was metanoia, repentance, a complete change of
heart

CLINCHER

1. Lagniappe - something given as a bonus or extra gift


2. Mirepoix - A mirepoix is diced vegetable cooked for a long time on a gentle heat without
colour or browning, usually with butter or other fat or oil.
3. Ratatouille- Ratatouille is a French Provenal stewed vegetable dish, originating in Nice.
