Lifeforce Reviews
It's hard to believe the creator of ALIEN co-wrote this silliness. It's fairly entertaining for the first 45 minutes or so. Steve Railsback is not an appealing actor.
Very cheesy b-movie that’s plenty entertaining, it’s no Alien but itll do
RUN, NAKED SPACE GIRL! RUN!
Over the past 40 years I have watched this movie several times. It is shamelessly erotic with both the female lead and the two androgynously beautiful male aliens. The cast is superb...the special effects for the time are wonderful...The sets are amazing ...AND the whole plot or scheme is just fodder for the sci-fi mind. Don't over-think it...Just grab a beer or glass of wine and enjoy yourself.
Criminally underrated! Well paced Sci fi horror that has some brilliantly over the top moments. Most of all it's fun.
Maybe the film is a little dated with the dialogue, special effects, and plot overall. But something about the movie grabbed me right when it was said it was based on the book The Space Vampires at the beginning. And didn't let go until the end.
I never thought that space vampires would love being naked so much. This is a very British film in every way, from the accept to the setting to the pacing. Lifeforce is incredibly reminiscent of Alien (1979) but not even close to the same level of quality but still probably the best copy. Due to all the nakedness it also reminds me of Species (1995). Both Alien and Species have better effects though and in Lifeforce they look dated but still very fun and better than modern CGI effects. I found the wide angle lens they sometimes used ugly. There was also a weird blue gradient along the bottom of any shots that use a dissolve before or after the shot. It’s mostly well paced, a bit slow in places in the first half but the chaotic final act more than makes up for it. Overall it’s a great and fun sci-fi film led by a beautiful naked vampire!
Tobe Hooper's behind the camera and Dan O'Bannon's at the typewriter to bring us Naked Electric Vampires From Outer Space. Yes, it's as good as it sounds.
I don't normally like movies like this but this one's very special. It's because of the way it uses sexuality to seduce its victims in a really cool way. Reminds me of an old Barnabas Collins episode where this sexy vampire seduces her victim into giving her this passionate kiss while she breathes cold air into his mouth. But he's too overwhelmed to stop and pull away while he becomes colder and colder until he dies. This sexy vampire seduction deal is also used very effectively in the movie Interview with a Vampire. I loved the Young Patrick Stewart's short role in this. I think it would be cool to make a Walking Dead movie that uses this kind of seduction to bring their victims to them so they can eat them. But I digress. Cop a buzz and give it a go, peace.
It starts off strong but comes off the rails and does not get back on.
Well, if this movie knew what kind of movie it was trying to be, it could’ve been memorable. Instead, you get a result with good makeup and special effects, but a story and soundtrack that you’ll probably forget until someone reminds you that it exists.
This movie is kinda wild,an alien vampire girl? It's like a nightmare fever dream
This movie is a blast. It's a really great movie to watch if you like sci-fi . A friend recommended me watching this and I loved the practical effects. This movie has a strong cult following. I am really surprised it's not rated higher on RT. This doesn't make my love for this movie any less. It's about some astronauts discovering a ship filled with space vampire aliens. This movie is based off the novel "Space Vampires". They bring the aliens home and that's when the action gets going. A woman alien is the spotlight of the show. She escapes and must be stopped.
Lifeforce is a different kind of sci-fi erotic bisexual vampire horror film from Tobe Hopper who terrified us from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and thrilled use from Poltergeist and is really entertaining and really great British actors including young Patrick Stewart and really epic musical score by Henry Mancini and spectacular special effects and Dan O' Bannon the writer of Alien and Dead and Buried did good ideas but some are not understanding of the film but I had a blast.
Everyone likes at least one Cannon Films production; this is the one I like. Make sure you watch the Director's Cut. It isn't great, but it is much better than the theatrical version.
Visto al cinema e rivisto più volte in DVD. Bel film di fantascienza con trovate a volte geniali a volte un poco meno (vedi il finale).. da rivedere. In Italia è uscito con il titolo SPACE VAMPIRES..
What a Great Overlooked Sci Fi movie which hasn't aged much at all! Acting, plot, special effects, all outstanding! Enjoyed watching more than once!
Only the special effects saved this barf. Pacing was rotten, acting was rotten, story was unoriginal. Full female nudity must make this a good jerk off film for horny guys. Go watch Green Slime instead. At least it's corny sf fun.
The problem with Lifeforce; is all movies aren't Lifeforce.
Yes its quite silly but that's clearly intentional. Hooper made a big budget Hammer Horror movie and you can either engage with it on that level or not.
