I thought it was great that they didn’t default to the same plot line for the kids that they did in IT chapter 1. I agree that there are a lot of moving pieces so far, but I’m okay with that for now.

It’s possible that it’s off to a slow start but I’m hoping it will rise to the level of Steven King worthy thrillers. I think it’s possible that they are mixing in familiar information so that it can stand alone. I do like the casting and history of the characters in their childhoods and complex home lives. I also enjoy the alternating timeline. It’s at least a new section of the narrative that fills holes from further development of the timeline.
