Still raw technology
The unboxing of EyeRide by EyeLights was exciting.
Then I found that Eyeride can be mounted only on the right side of the helmet. That's bad because on the right side of the road there are most of signs and possible dangers for the rider.
Then 2 weeks of trying to set Waze as default navigation app. My request to customer service was useless, I got just copy-paste from Eyelights web site. Searching in the Internet have some hints but still useless. Finally. I found how to set it - tricky workaround. However this might be done easily with Captain rider app.
Next, change volume of voice is possible with voice commands only. That's awkward. The main unit must have volume ring or buttons.
The control of brightness is also done via app. It's not comfortable to open the app few times a day for different weather conditions.
Captain rider app can set the Eyeride parameters only when paired. Why? If all the data is in the cloud, let user to set what he wants. Later, when device paired, load the configuration into the main unit.
And finally, killing problem: when Eyeride paired with the phone, the data service works rarely and slowly. I must say "OK google" about 15-20 times until something happens. During the ride it's impossible to call google or even answer incoming call.
The optic module is really good. Smooth picture, great brightness. The optic engineering is really awesome.
However, low usability discovers poor product management team. Fully charged Main unit is heating and discharges in 1.5 hours at the lowest brightness setting shows the poor electronic design. The Captain rider app shows poor software development cycle.
I'm very unhappy with my Eyeride, long anticipated, and very disappointing experience.
If anyone needs it as decoration or for part, drop me a message, I'll send you mine. It's useless.
