I would give them no Stars but it makes me give at least 1 :( , I've paid my bill and got a confirmation from my bank, sent them the confirmation by email and after some time my email was rejected! possibly because of the attachment?, I wish I had read the reviews before I picked this Gexa Energy!

Gexa was a $295 lesson in reading and…

Gexa was a $295 lesson in reading and understanding the Texas EFL (energy facts label). Their quoting system indicated that I would pay 11.9 cents per 1000 KwH. Due to my responsible energy habits (termostat set at 78 in summer and 67 in winter) I thought this a good deal. Nope.

The real rate is 23.9 cents for the first 500 KwH. My average energy usage is less than 1000KwH making this the worst plan possible. Sure, I get $115 back if I exceed 1000KwH but that happens only 3 months of the year. Just under 1000KwH means about $230/month electricity bill.

Learn to read the EFL!

BTW, never go with a company that sponsors/owns rights to a sporting team stadium! I should have known. My bad.

Terrible Customer Service

8/26/2024.. Was lied to by multiple representatives about service.. been a loyal
Customer since 2010 and they refused to work with me on a high bill which didn’t make sense.. Disconnected service after I was told I wouldn’t be if I paid a certain amount.. paid that amount and was disconnected and telling me I had to pay close to $1000 to get it back restored.. said I had someone in my home on a breathing machine and was told “can’t do nothing for you” it’s 100 degrees in Texas and now 80+ in my Home.. no loyalty to customers only they only want your money and showed 0 compassion.. taking my service elsewhere

Avoid Gexa energy at all cost

Gexa energy signed on and was giver this promo.
60-day satisfaction guarantee
New customers can switch to a different Gexa
Energy plan without paying an early cancellation fee within 60 days of enrollment.
After 20 days I searched for lower cost packages on power to choose which is my go to site for all offerings for energy packages .
Gexa was offering a package 7 cents a kWh lower in cost than what I signed up for 23 days earlier . The representative denied that I was unable to proceed with this decision and stated I was on the lowest package that they had to offer.
My suggestion before signing up for energy is to run as fast as you can in the opposite direction

I agree with most reviews here

I agree with most reviews here.

Gexa doesn't seem to care. Here in Frisco OnCor is super unreliable. Constant outages. OnCor refusing to fix it permanently and no breaks for the outages.

I wrote them an email asking for a refund for the time I was down. No refund. Talk to OnCor. Oncor says talk tk Gexa and problem is never resolved.

Reviewing my bill I see that with the outage or no outage I was billed the same meaning they didn't take into account the outage times.

On renewal they didn't offer same plan I had. Instead gave me one option to switch to a plan 5 cents per kilowatt hour higher.

I tried to switch but most other companies were higher than they were unless it was one of the lesser known companies with variable rates. Which I wasn't going to do.

I didn't see the discrepancy in my bills that others here claim with prices adjustments, I have a fixed plan. I'd assume they have a variable plan.

Price has been relatively the same +\- the amount used difference per month.

I decided to keep them for the mean time but have a close eye. If they continue and screw me over more then I'm switching.

But then again previously I've dealt with other companies here in the Dallas region and they all had issues. If I had to pick one I had the best experience with even though it still wasn't great it would be txu energy.

Keep an eye on your bill if you deal with this power provider.

They advertise a $125 credit when at…

They advertise a $125 credit when at 1000 KwH. They provde a weekly "snapshop" of your expected bill. Amazingly, it never varies from what Oncor provides (their words) at the beginning of the month, so if the projected usage is 847 KwH it doesn't change if you actually cross 1,000 KwH so you effectively pay much more per KwH than if you received the $125 credit. I know my usage increased this past month due to cold, furnace operation, etc., over the projected usage. An attorney needs to subpoena their billing records and file a class action lawsuit.

Beware of Gexa Energy's Misleading Practices!

I recently tried to sign up for Gexa Energy's Gexa Eco Saver Premier 12 plan and had a frustrating experience. Their customer service rep assured me that providing certain documentation would waive the security deposit. Despite spending hours retrieving and sending the required document, I was later told it wasn't sufficient.

This feels like a bait-and-switch tactic. I wasted time and effort based on false assurances. If this is how Gexa Energy treats potential customers, I can't imagine how they'd handle actual service issues. Proceed with caution!

No problem with service but watch out for the termination fee. They offer great rates when you are in an upward market but no break in fees as time passes. Learned my lesson signing up for long term contracts!

Check Your Meter Reading

Lost power on 5/28/24 at 6:30 am and did not have power restored till 6/1/24 Around 11:10 am due to bad storms in Dallas. According to Gexa I supposedly used 122.999kw of power between those days even though my family and i was sitting in the dark. Oncore even agreed with me and said i did not have power and proved it as well. Gexa kept insisting that it was a meter reading which is false. still waiting for Gexa to correct this issue. otherwise i will have to take this to the state and media

Great new customer pricing, but renewal plans are fairly deceptive

They are generally great when you sign up provided you pay attention to how varied the pricing can be. The service and responsiveness is very good, as is the information regarding usage on their website. However, once you have been signed up with them, a lot of of their electricity plans seem like a good deal, unless you go over or under the target kilowatt hour that they set. For example, it might be $.12 per kilowatt hour at over 2000 kWh, but it jumps to $.18 per kilowatt hour if he use under 2000 kWh. That’s because you get $125 credit for using over 2000 kWh. The whole pricing scheme just seems like a scam to overcharge their unsophisticated customers. I was a very happy customer and would’ve stayed with them, but I would’ve been totally hosed and some of the Spring and Fall months when my usage drops. It’s a shame that they bait you with a good deal as a new customer and then force you to switch. Although, this practice is not atypical in the North Texas electric market.

They really don't care at all…

They really don't care at all about anyones situation!!!

I've been with the crass Company for two years and was not Properly notified About my contract ending because they failed to update my mailing address when I transferred my services to a whole new address !!! I accumulated a $500+ bill when my bill typically is less than $100. I simply asked for assistance with one bill after already making a payment to avoid disconnection and these bloodsuckers could careless!!! As Someone who's never even received assistance this is offensive, but more so upset that I've already renewed the contract! It might just be worth it for the $150 to go ahead and get out of a contract than to remain with a company that doesn't give a s**t about its people!!!! Definitely will never recommend this company and will turn anyone away who may consider!!!

Be wary of Gexa

I have had my son's electricity plan with Gexa for nearly 2 years. He lives 5 hours away from me. Because of this I cannot have a Discount Energy Plan down here by Houston. My credit is excellent. Gexa will lose my son's account shortly. How stupid is that???

Find a Better Supplier

This is twice I've had my electricity cut with no warning. I just looked at my account and see I have been switched to paperless which I did not do. Bills are high. I am in a very small house (less than 1200 sf) with a few window units and always over $300/m with one person staying there.

Bye Bye Gexa…

After having been with Gexa several years their prices have gotten outrageous. I called them to complain and ask why I have such a large bill. Over 600. Their response was I used more than 2000kw and therefore my rate went up and I don’t get the 100 credit. I can’t afford these kinds of bills. Especially after putting in new 16. Seer AC in April and new custom solar screens on every window and door. And new roof and insulation. Yet my energy use has gone up way more than I’ve ever used in 10 years. So I’m switching to a new company that has rates significantly less than Gexa. When I called them they did not even offer me a new or better plan. So disappointed because first two years were great.

False Advertising and BAD Comer Experience

I was sent an early renewal offer of 8.9c per kwh. When I called in to take the offer I was told that was incorrect it is 9.3c. I said it was valid when I called so what changed? They told me they can change the rate daily. I even emailed them and they just ignore my emails.

STAY AWAY!!! If this is how you try to keep customers then the opposite just happened. I will move as I can not stand false advertising as it is the same as fraud. This is marketing 101, do not screw your loyal customers over.

The winner for the worst customer service ever!

GEXA has the worst customer service of any company I have ever dealt with! Their Guatemalan Call Center has the worst people you could ever encounter!

They lie, play games, stall, refused to put supervisors on the phone. You have to really press to get a supervisor. Supervisors are unethical, unprofessional, zero integrity. It doesn't matter who you talk with they do absolutely nothing but waste your time! I spoke with Supervisor Jennifer Sibrian who refused to adjust my payment correctly after I cleared up the entire past due amount and demanded me to pay the entire past due amount again, before my services were restored. This is outright extortion tactics! THEY ARE INSANE!!

The call center agents and supervisors are subversive, irresponsible, dishonorable and use evasive tactics, the only way you can get anything done from this company is escalate to C level people within the corporate office in Houston. Stay away from this company at all cost!

While I am writing this I am on the phone with Joselyn who claims to be a call center supervisor for the Guatemalan call center, she keeps putting me on hold, I have been waiting for more than 25 minutes now and still hasn't come back to the phone. This is one of the many evasive tactics they do. These people, are really just paid for hire con artists! Avoid this company like the plague that it is!!!!

I contacted Gexa while I was out of…

UPDATE: I just got a third invoice with a credit on it (I think??) indicating that they are finally dealing with AEP. I can’t know if it’s accurate but it’s better than it was. The other half of my July payment does show “past due” though. If I see an impact on my credit score I’m going to be pretty annoyed … at least this is an improvement, if I don’t.

ORIGINAL: I contacted Gexa while I was out of town and my energy usage was through the roof despite leaving the AC at 85, unplugging the fridge and not using any appliances.
They initiated a billing dispute with AEP central. That’s fine. They told me to pay the amount I’m not disputing so I estimated half and paid that. (It was probably still too much).
A few days later my neighbour phoned to say AEP had come by. AEP had mixed my line with his, so I’ve been paying for his usage and he for mine.
Fine.
A week and a half later Gexa is still showing me sky high usage. I asked for confirmation that they would not report me to the credit bureau for not paying the balance while the amount was still disputed, per PUC regulations. They would not give me that confirmation. Instead, they finally said it was due 08/01 instead of 07/15. They quoted me the amount remaining.
The next day I get a bill for the entire amount again, despite already having paid half.
And they still haven’t dealt with the AEP issue. I am owed a huge credit.
I’m furious.

Don't be fooled

They start off looking good, however as the months go on they start raising your rates so what you paid 2 months ago for 1000 kwh was $130. goes to $200+ and now for 1081 kwh is $265
