It’s the only product that helps consistently
2 years ago I foster to adopted 2 of the most skittish dogs I’ve ever owned. They are former street dogs and the older one has experienced pretty significant trauma (based on her response to being a pet). The younger one (she was 2 when I first got her) came to me with 9 new pups and she warmed up quickly to me but is still wary of strangers. The older one (she was 4) was supposed to come to me pregnant as well but then was assigned a different foster. She was never picked up, so the county facility spay aborted her and because of her fear she ended up on the euth list. When my rescue found out, they pulled her (they were unaware she had not been in foster). She was so scared and despite the best efforts of the shelter employees (it’s an exceptional shelter- dogs have names, are loved on and treated as much like pets as possible) was very shut down and fearful, fear pooping when leashed but never aggressive, so since the younger one did well w/me, they asked me to take Gracie. She spent 3 weeks behind the toilet in my second bathroom except when I took her out to potty. She wouldn’t eat in front of me or take treats for probably 2 months. When she chose to come out and lay on the big dog bed in my office with the other dogs I still had to leave a leash in her so I could catch her without scaring her. She slowly learned that she could trust me, but was still afraid to even go outside without me taking her on a leash. I tried trazodone and she made some big improvements- would go outside without the leash and play in the yard a little- but she was still very skittish overall. The trazodone took her so far and then she stopped having any effect from it, so I started looking for natural/otc help. Both girls were still pretty anxious so I kept looking for a solution. I found this product and started them on the oil; I wasn’t sure it was helping but continued because their coats were so soft and it seemed to have other positive benefits so I kept using it. I tried the cookies on a whim, and surprisingly they seemed to work better than the oil. I communicated frequently with Paw Origins staff and realized I wasn’t giving enough oil based on their weights. I increased the doses plus they get an herbal supplement and a probiotic that is the equivalent of the pro calm product. They are sweet, loving dogs but still have anxiety issues with strangers and loud noises. I have tried so much and the only thing that has provided much relief for them is this regime. They get the oil on a dog biscuit and a probiotic at bed time, a chew and the herbal tablet in the morning, and an extra chew or two as needed for weather, vet visits or even the dog park or visiting my best friend and her pups. My 15 year old pit bull also gets Paw Origins at night and in the morning for his arthritis; he also had a stroke last November, which has made him more anxious and it seems to keep him more comfortable. The Paw Origins product is not cheap, but it works and the company has excellent customer service. To me it’s worth it to give my girls and old man a better, more normal life.
