Sailed Resilient Lady in September…

Sailed Resilient Lady in September 2026. Two things were genuinely great: the food was excellent across every venue, and our cabin stewards were outstanding. Embarkation was fast and efficient. After that it went downhill.
The spa was the worst of it. I paid just under $300 for a 75-minute deep tissue. No robe, no slippers, no spa or amenity access, and I was taken back five minutes late. When I asked what my fee actually included, neither Sailor Services nor the spa manager could give me a clear answer — and I eventually learned access to the spa amenities is a separate $79 charge that is never disclosed when you book. When I raised how the experience felt for that price, I got "I'm sorry" and nothing else. No explanation, no effort to make it right.
Service generally is not the same as hospitality. At bars and venues we had to flag someone down repeatedly to be served, and orders still came out wrong. Crew frequently didn't know their own product — we asked whether to bring towels to Virgin's own beach club and were told yes; there were towel stations everywhere when we arrived.
Entertainment was thin. A few shows, most of them paid. Persephone was finally some real talent, but the content across the board is very vulgar. Virgin is also clearly built around adult/LGBTQ+ nightlife culture — I'm supportive of that community, but nearly all the programming centers on it and nothing in the marketing prepares you for that. Travelers deserve to know the vibe so they can decide if it's their fit.
You pay extra for almost everything except food, your room, and venue access. The ship is small — the pool holds about 17 people. There's very little port or ship information: no announcements about disembarking, all-aboard times, anything. Disembarkation was disorganized, no staggered times, clogged elevators, nobody directing anyone.
And I loaded cash onto my account instead of a card. They refunded the $22 but refused to return the cents. Multiply that across every sailor and it's real money they're quietly keeping.
Great food, great stewards, and not much else. Know what you're booking — and ask exactly what you're paying for.

First Virgin Voyages Cruise - room for improvement

This was my first Virgin Voyages Cruise, and overall, it was a good experience, but I feel that there could be improvements. The ship was clean, and I was really impressed with the presence of staff always trying to keep things clean. Our room steward wasn't very good, but that was the luck of the draw. We asked for a steamer and more hangers 3 times and finally had to call to get them. He also forgot to leave a bucket of ice twice. My husband nicked himself while shaving, and a couple pillowcases had blood on them, and they were not changed. The comforter, with a more obvious spot, was changed. We thought some of the food was great and some wasn't. The desserts were especially exceptional, especially compared to other cruise lines. We were disappointed with the entertainment. We would prefer more shows in the Red Room. Persephone and the acrobatic show were fantastic. We would like more that are similar to those. The red hammock on the balcony was wonderful. We would have liked the options of preparing fresh eggs or omelets instead of them being premade. We would have liked Eggs Benedict to be an option. We would have enjoyed meeting the captain and staff instead of them being hidden away. We like dinners with the captains, cocktail parties with the captain, etc. The bar tab seemed to be an effective way to pay for drinks since we don't drink a lot. I was amazed at bored bartenders because, in general, there appeared to be less drinking on this cruise. I would prefer having a printout of information each day in my cabin simple because it's easy to access. I'm good with technology, but I felt for others who either didn't use their phones or didn't feel comfortable dealing with the app. Virgin didn't make it clear that you use the same room tags when leaving the ship as we did when we boarded. The directions said to put your luggage tags on your bags the last night, but they didn't indicate where those tags came from. This was one of a few communication issues on the ship. The crew was extremely friendly and helpful. That meant a lot.

The cruise on Virgin Voyages

The cruise on Virgin Voyages, being my first time sailing with them...and being completely honest, I was left uninspired and even somewhat disappointed. I knew it was an "all adult" experience, but in many instances throughout the cruise, I felt a little overwhelmed. The ship layout seemed cramped and poorly designed. However, the biggest disappointments were food quality and choices, entertainment and cabin quarters. I guess I'm just a peculiar, odd ball here, but entertainment was mostly very dull and lacked excitement to keep my attention for the full time, as I experienced on other cruise lines. The food choices and quality greatly need improvement in my opinion, bear in mind I did not dine in any of the specialty restaurants, but comparing other cruises I have been on Virgin Voyages is at the bottom of the list so far when it comes to casual dining. I booked a balcony cabin, (as I do in all my cruises) and again comparing with other cruise lines, Virgin does not get good marks from me. Cabin seemed very small, as well as the bathroom. Bed not too comfortable either. I must also add that the on-board staff and housekeeping stewards, eatery workers, did not have an authentic warmness when greeting them. They were not rude or impolite per say, but again I'm comparing my past experiences on other cruise lines. On the positive side, the booking and check-in was seamless...high points there. Overall, even though it was only a five-day cruise, and my first time with Virgin Voyages, I more than likely will not be cruising with them in the near future. It was not a horrible experience, but I have had better elsewhere. This is of course my opinion base on my experience, so perhaps someone who was on that cruise may have a more positive one. It's all one's perspective. With that said, I will not disregard future Virgin cruises base on this one experience, but for my next cruise I will be trying something else.

Sick again, Done with cruises

Food was ok. The quality was decent but the menus were not. We had a difficult time finding something we liked. The premier steak specialty restaurant, Wake was awful for us. Waited an hour after we ordered for the food to arrive. I asked and emphasized for my steak to be medium. It was served cold, difficult to cut and close to raw. Unacceptable and very disappointing. We were offered drinks to make it right but we declined.
The tours were very good and the natural beauty is awesome.
We had a room with a balcony that was nice.
The staff was wonderful.
My wife and I both got very sick with Covid or the flu. I think we are done with cruises as this is the second time in a row that happened. I don't think the cruise industry can find a solution the the issue.

Disappointing first experience with Virgin Voyages.

Disappointing first experience with Virgin Voyages.
I booked my first Virgin cruise under a Sea View Lock It In Rate, believing I was receiving their best discounted option in exchange for accepting strict cancellation and modification restrictions.
Shortly afterward, Virgin advertised a better offer for the same voyage. I contacted Sailor Services and explained that I was not requesting a cancellation, date change, passenger change, or cabin modification. I only asked them to consider the lower pricing or provide a modest Bar Tab or onboard credit as a goodwill gesture.
After multiple emails, Virgin repeatedly quoted the Lock It In restrictions and denied any adjustment. Those restrictions explain why I cannot modify the reservation, but they do not prevent Virgin from voluntarily providing a small customer-service credit.
I understand that prices can change. My disappointment is with how Virgin chose to handle the situation, especially for a first-time customer who still intends to take the cruise and pay the remaining balance.
Virgin promotes a premium and customer-focused experience, but my first interaction has left me feeling unheard and undervalued. I am sharing this so other travelers understand that a Lock It In Rate may prevent you from benefiting if a better price or promotion becomes available after booking.
I hope Virgin Voyages reconsiders how it treats customers in this situation.

Virgin Voyages is my absolute favorite…

Virgin Voyages is my absolute favorite cruise line. We did back to back starting in Portsmouth and ending in NYC, hitting Amsterdam, Scotland, Iceland, Greenland and Canada. We are on the ship for 24 days. We never expected this cruise to be as spectacular as it has been. The ship is gorgeous, the suites are spacious, the ship is immaculate, the staff are wonderful and the food is great. The Happenings Cast make this cruise so fun. The shows and musical acts are top notch. The selection of food is terrific. The excursions offered are diverse and interesting. Virgin has set the bar so high that I do not want to sail on any other cruise line. This is truly a cruise that can be anything you want it to be from relaxing and low key to activity filled. Some of my favorite things are no photographer chasing you around, no extra charges to eat in specialty restaurants, no formal night, no buffet, no "main dining room" with "seating times", and NO KIDS.

We Felt Completely Spoiled — A Wonderful Cruise from Start to Finish

We had a wonderful time on this cruise and left feeling thoroughly spoiled from start to finish. Our RockStar assistant, Dorothy, was exceptionally attentive—always a step ahead, checking in at just the right moments, and making every request feel effortless. Our steward, Gerald, was equally amazing: warm, professional, and quietly thorough in a way that made our suite feel like a true retreat. Together they set a tone of genuine care that elevated the whole experience.
The scenery was unforgettable. The glaciers were stunningly beautiful—vast, luminous, and almost otherworldly as we sailed past. Those moments alone would have made the trip worthwhile.
Dining was another highlight. The dessert venue delivered consistently excellent treats in perfect portions—just enough to satisfy without feeling heavy. And when we finally caught the ramen spot at the right time, the Thai curry ramen was absolute perfection: rich, fragrant, and exactly what we wanted. Our only note is that we wish that venue had better and longer hours; we kept missing the window more often than we would have liked. Even so, the one bowl we did enjoy more than made up for the scheduling frustration.
Overall, this was a beautifully run, memorable voyage. Thoughtful service, spectacular views, and food that hit the mark when we could get to it. We would happily sail again.

Do better Virgin

Liked the room, and the balcony. Thought you did a great job with getting us on and off the boat. Love the wine pairing dinner we went too, but we paid $200 for that experience. Did like the mix of people.
Disliked the food, bathroom too small, entertainment was lame. The majority of the staff didn’t seem very happy, there were a few exceptions though, and they were delightful. Too few places with sun beds in the shade. The one excursion that we took through Virgin was horrible.
We won’t do another cruise, I don’t think we’re cruise people. And I wasn’t impressed with virgin.

From day 1 we had issues getting into…

From day 1 we had issues getting into our cabin. First day we drop our stuff off and go exploring. Come back and cant get in. Workers tried to use their fobs but the door still wouldn't open until a physical key was brought up and we got in. We checked the door several times before they left and it was working. This happened EVERY DAY of our 5 day cruise! They even came with parts for the door making us think it was fixed but it was not. We were given a cabana for a day with $100 sailor loot, but the daily inconvenience was so much more!!!! Cabin 14198z was disastrous!!! I sat in the floor for several minutes one night around 11:45pm waiting to get in my room. It was a horrible experience!!!

Cruise was great. Billing awful.

Cruise was great. However, Virgin Voyages have placed 3 pending transactions totalling over £1200 on my credit card for onboard spending, whilst also taking the full amount amount I actually spent on board (£500). This has put my credit card over my limit. 5 days after the cruise finished 2 are still pending (over £850) and they say they can do nothing to cancel them.

Two hours standing in an unmanaged

Two hours standing in an unmanaged, bottlenecked tender line just to get ashore in Kotor today (Scarlet Lady), with zero reservations or crowd control.
Wasting a massive chunk of our limited port day trapped in a completely disorganized queue is a massive failure of guest logistics and planning. For a brand that touts a premium experience, this level of disarray for non-reservation guests is incredibly disappointing. Management needs to seriously overhaul how tender operations and queues are handled before port days become an endurance test.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service! I had a credit because I booked when I was on the ship, $150 deposit plus $150 in sailor loot. A year later I was booked on a cruise out of my control, basically got an email saying I owed the final deposit on a cruise I did not book. They used my credit to book the cruise. After two hours on the phone all they gave me was my $150 credit back to use on a future cruise. As if I would want to sale with them again?! For two hours I was blamed and I told my only option was to lose. Horrible customer service!

No more Virgin for us

We were a party of 8 and our experience was not good, we would not go on another Virgin cruises. #1 problem -) A family member, 67 year old female, was told by multiple Virgin staff, from the Mega Rockstar agent, Sailor services, medical centre and finally Sailor Services Manager, Raffaella, that in order to get access to a wheelchair, the lady would need to be "accessed" by the ships Doctor at a cost of $200 USD. I informed the Sailor Services Manager that under UK maritime passenger-rights protections, In particular, Article 10 of Regulation (EU) No. 1177/2010, it is illegal to charge a fee for a wheelchair assessment . After meeting with her boss, they relented and provided the wheelchair without the assessment fee. This was very concerning, how many seniors and or disabled folks have had to pay this complexly illegal charge x Virgins what 5 ships.

We paid for the Romance package that included a bottle of champagne, we read online folks cautioning about "be sure to check your account as they tend to charge the champagne". Went departing the ship, we went to sailor services to make sure we weren't charged and the Sailor Service personnel checked and confirmed we were not charged. Then we get the final account email after ever left the ship,, there's the $105 USD charge for the champagne.

There is nothing but line-ups... followed by more line-up's including a sprinkle of line-ups. Want bingo cards, line up for 30-40 mins, getting back on board in Amsterdam took over an hour and 40 mins for rockstar and mega rockstar category's. Want a special coffee, line up for 15 mins...

The food was good and the front line staff are fantastic however some sailors we met were calling it the "Hunger Cruise" due to not getting into the speciality restaurants.

Family member who was a MAGA Rockstar, in one of the only two massive suites was asked to pay $7 for a water upon returning onboard from a Virgin excursion at the gangway. I guess Richard really needed that $7. 00 from a customer already paying $50,000 CDN 😃

This was our first Virgin cruise

This was our first Virgin cruise. I have been cruising my whole life and I have been on over 30 cruises spread between all the major cruise lines. I was very excited to try the Alaskan cruise with the Brilliant Lady and experience it with my boyfriend. We are big foodies and that's very important to us when we travel. I was most excited to try Gunbae, as we love Korean BBQ. The service was amazing and I wish I remembered the woman server's name as she was incredibly attentive and made the experience even better. I will say, this restaurant was honestly the most disappointing food wise. The appetizers were great, but the meat that was cooked in front of us was bland and there lacked options for sauces. It was the first night so I was not looking forward to trying the other restaurants, since I heard Gunbae was one of the best on the ship. I was proven to be wrong though, as we tried the others. Extra Virgin and Rojo were amazing in every way. Both had very flavorful dishes, but Rojo takes the cake with the most spectacular options with unique flavors. Besides the food, the service from Giselle from the Philippines was amazing. She 100% made our experience unforgettable. She was extremely informative on the menu and also was very friendly and did an amazing job serving us. We also prefer the galley option over the typical cruise ship buffet. All staff have been so great to us and have treated us like kings and queens. As far as experiences on the ship, we were excited to try the different options listed for an up charge to book. We didn't know what to expect, but packed our schedule with as many options as possible. We specifically were excited to try the food and drink centered ones. I love that Virgin caters itself to adults and bas many fun options for events and themed entertainment on board for people to book. I will say though, that the shows that the entertainment cast performed seemed not very well made and seemed a little childish for adults compared to other cruise lines. The up charged options were well worth it and I will recommend them to anyone booking their next cruise. Mecca hosted most of them and she was sooooo personable and outgoing. You can tell she takes her job very serious and tries her best to make everyone's time the best possible. She is the best possible person to do her specific role and she deserves all the recognition possible. She made everyone smile and laugh and truly was the star of the show for all her events that she hosted. She made sure to recognize all her coworkers and give them the opportunity to showcase not only themselves, but what they do and how they do it. The mixologists on board as well as the chefs are all incredibly talented and Virgin Voyages are lucky to have them. Each server and housekeepers are all under recognized for all their hard work and most of the time go unnoticed. They help make this all happen and deserve to be appreciated. I will definitely be returning and I now don't know how I could ever book any other cruise line. I was invited as a casino guest through my casino travel agency and hopefully I will now get offers directly from Virgin to book again in the future!

Good itenerary, service, food, entertainment and diversion options; poor accomodation and excursion execution. The itenerary and excursion options…

The itenerary and excursion options were very good. Howerever, reality supercedes anticipation in some instances for this cruiseline. I would have liked to rate the cruise higher but my party had many unfortuanate experiences. (1) Beginning with our room: It had a pervasive odor that lasted throughout the cruise, despite efforts to mitigate it, and it had damage to the floor that was a tripping hazard. The bathroom did not have a door. All of this impacted our comfort and relaxation throughout the cruise. (2) Even though I paid extra for fast WIFI, the experience was below par in that I could not stream or use most of the apps that I tried. Their onboard tech support was also less than I expected. (3) Our excursion to a Bordeaux winery was diminished by the fact that there was no electricity throughout the entire property the entire time we were there. (4) Our excursion in Morrocco to tour the Caves of Hercules was a bust because WE DID NOT GET TO TOUR THE CAVES! They didn't have tickets or a reservation for us. There was a good variety of food and restaurants that deserve positive mention. The staff and crew we encountered at every level were personable, engaging and helpful and deserve positive mention. Entertainment and daily options on the cruise were varied and interesting and deserve positive mention.

Great Staff

The staff were amazing which is why I am giving it two stars, the food was mediocre, shows not so good, the cabin was ok, shopping onboard boring.
The hair salon had an amazing hair stylist and the massage was great, but I could have done that at home.
The staff on the shore were not engaging at all, some were even rude, they had little or no idea about the tours.
To be honest both my husband and I were really disappointed.

Comedy Cruise on Valiant Lady.

This was our 10th sailing on Virgin Voyages. We booked this cruise because it was the Comedy Fest from Portsmouth with some great comedians on board including Lucy Beaumont, Seann Walsh and the brilliant Milton Jones. As always the Happenings Cast put on a great Sail away party and Scarlet Night. The food onboard is always of the highest quality, especially the new modern Indian restaurant Ariya by Razzle Dazzle only on Valiant Lady.
The staff were very friendly and kind and it was good to see some familiar faces from previous Virgin Cruises.
The only issue we have is the shows in the Red Room which are on a first come first served basis, therefore you had to start queuing about an hour before the show to see the comedians, the doors were opened about 45 mins before after the Rockstars had gone in.
Thoroughly recommend Virgin Voyages for all Adults of any age.
