Lookout Landing is a fortified settlement located in the center of Hyrule Field, next to a Skyview Tower. It was built by Hudson Construction at the site of Breath of the Wild's Sacred Ground Ruins.[2][3] After Gloom started to appear from Beneath Hyrule Castle, Zelda discussed her plan to investigate it with Purah.[4] With some negotiation, Purah agreed to let Zelda investigate the Gloom on the condition that she would build an outpost to both observe the Gloom and quickly reach the paths underneath Hyrule Castle by way of the old Emergency Shelter.[4][5][6] To further help prepare for any potential threat, Zelda established the Zonai Survey Team which would perform archaeological surveys and rebuild their knowledge of Hyrule's past.[7]
As the lead scientist of Lookout Landing, Purah appointed various researchers and employed the Zonai Survey Team to study the Gloom.[6] However, following Zelda's disappearance during the Upheaval, volunteers from across Hyrule gathered at Lookout Landing to help search for her, expanding Lookout Landing into a multipurpose base of operations.[6] With its rapid growth, Purah tasked Scorpis to help manage Lookout Landing.[8]
Karson from Hudson Construction took on the role of remodeling Lookout Landing to aid with its expansion.[9] Jerrin, wife of the Sheikah researcher Robbie, also took on the responsibility for custodial work at Lookout Landing.[10] When the Extreme Cold Snap forced the Rito Stable to close, Purah reached out to Lester and asked him to manage the Horses for Lookout Landing.[11]
It is the base of operations for the Zonai Survey Team.[citation needed] In the northwestern corner is the Lookout Landing Well.

Lookout Landing was built on top of the royal family's emergency shelter. We don't have much equipment in there, but we do have essentials like beds and a cooking pot. Feel free to use those. If you need armor or cooking ingredients for your travels, you'll find all that at Mubs's shop up here.

Precautions on Top of Precautions
When I told Purah of my plan to venture beneath the castle to investigate the gloom, she expressed... strong opposition. That Link would accompany me did not sway her in the slightest. It was only my suggestion to establish an outpost here—a place to observe the gloom from and to reach the hidden path beneath the castle—that earned her begrudging acceptance." — Voice Memories (Zelda Notes, US, June 5, 2025) - ↑
This place is known as Lookout Landing. When the gloom began to seep up from under Hyrule Castle, Purah started observing it from here. But now we're all here looking out for any signs of Princess Zelda. The whole effort is coordinated from this place.
— Drozer (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑ 6.0 6.1 6.2
Purah turned Lookout Landing into the central base for coordinating efforts to find Princess Zelda. Originally, she established this fort to study the gloom that started seeping from Hyrule Castle. Only researchers and members of the Zonai Survey Team worked here. But once the princess went missing, everyone wanted to help, so they've been coming in ever since. We're like one big, growing family.
— Scorpis (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑ "There are many things we can learn from history. After all, we would not have known to prepare for the Calamity if we had not studied ancient relics from our past. Knowing this, and having seen the passion of the archaeologists I have met on my travels, I have decided to form a team to survey ancient ruins and texts across Hyrule. I am sure there are many things we can learn from them as we restore the land." — Voice Memories (Zelda Notes, US, June 5, 2025)

Glad to have you back, Link! My name is Scorpis. I have been charged with managing Lookout Landing. If you have any questions about the place, any at all, come right to me. I will answer as best I can. Now please, allow me to open up the emergency shelter.
— Scorpis (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑
Sorry, but right now I'm busy sorting out remodeling plans for Lookout Landing. If it's building materials you're after, I suggest you start by cutting a tree down. After that... Hey, hold on.
— Karson (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑
Ah! Link, did you hear about the hidden passage that was found in the emergency shelter? The tunnel's quite old and neglected—it looks ready to cave in at any moment. I think we'd all do well to stay away. Since it was found, Jerrin, who's in charge of cleaning, has been acting strange. As if she's scared of something. She was always so chipper before too. I wonder what could have happened.
— Scorpis (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑
I used to work at Rito Stable in Hebra. Had a good job taking care of horses. But the cold there kept getting colder, and business got slower. In time, we had to close. Last I heard, the place had been bought out by the Lucky Clover Gazette. Just when I was feeling adrift, Purah reached out to me about managing the horses here at Lookout Landing... And before I knew it, here I was.
