"The Beckoning Woman" is a Side Adventure in Tears of the Kingdom.[1]
Overview
After talking to Traysi at the Lucky Clover Gazette and starting the "Potential Princess Sightings!" Side Adventure, Link can meet up with Penn at Outskirt Stable to look into another lead regarding Princess Zelda's whereabouts. Penn has already started investigating and is talking to Nell, a Hylian traveler who just had a strange encounter along the road south of the Stable.[2] When he came around the three-way intersection a woman came up to him and begged for his help because someone she knew was in great danger.[3] She would not reveal the identity of this person, however, fearing it may make the situation worse.[3] He agreed to follow her but he could not keep up and ended up losing track of her entirely.[4]
Penn points out that this could be someone important, if revealing their identity to stranger might put them at risk.[5] Despite the chances of this person being Princess Zelda being low, Penn still wants to follow up on the lead just in case.[5] Before they break off, Nell mumbles to himself that the woman had seemed strangely fixated on his hair.[6] This begins the Side Adventure "The Beckoning Woman".
When Link reaches the three-way crossroad, he will find Ralera lamenting about her friend.[7] He asks her if she is feeling alright, at which point she will look taken aback. She notes under her breath that he has blond hair,[8] before collecting herself and asking for his help saving a regal friend of hers.[9] If Links agrees, she thanks him and explains that her friend is currently in hiding from the ones wanting to harm her.[10] She turns towards the eastern road, which is now populated by Enemies, and asks Link not to be seen as that could lead the monsters straight to her friend.[11][note 7] She then runs ahead along the path.
After making his way through the Enemies, Link walks up to Ralera, who is waving to him a little further down the road. She apologizes for leaving him behind and explains she hurried out of worry for her friend.[12] She then turns to the cliff just north of where they are and asks Link to meet her at the top near a patch of fallen debris, before running off again.[13][14]
Once Link reaches the top of the cliff, he will find Ralera waiting for him. She murmurs to herself again, this time with a smile, that Link is definitely the person she has been looking for.[15] She turns to the cliff on the other side of the road, explaining that her friend is waiting for them there and that she will go ahead to meet up with her, before running ahead once more.[16]
When Link travels to the other side, Ralera is already there to greet him. She apologizes for the trouble she put him through and explains that she had to test him.[17] Because of the courage he has shown by overcoming every challenge she has thrown his way, along with his "disgusting" commitment to doing the right thing and his blond hair, she asks if he is indeed Link, the Princess' protector.[17] He nods, and she excitedly tells him how glad she is to finally meet him, and that she will now be leading him to the last stop on their journey,[18] his grave.[19]
Then, in a puff of smoke, Ralera reveals her true identity as a Yiga Footsoldier and is joined by two additional Footsoldiers. Once all three have been defeated, the original Yiga warns Link to be careful next time because they definitely will not be letting him off that easily,[20] before vanishing in another puff of smoke.
Penn then arrives to the scene. He is surprised by how far away Link has gotten from where they investigation started.[21] He learned that the woman was actually luring people away, and that he was scouting the area from above when he heard her voice.[21] He asks what Link has found out so far,[22] and he is very shocked to find out that woman was a member of the Yiga Clan all along, and that her disguise was just a ruse to lure Link, the famous swordsman, into their trap.[23] Since he does not realize that Link is the same swordsman, he just remarks on how unlucky it is that Link keeps being targeted mistakenly.[23] Penn is very glad to see that Link is safe, and that he will not have to report on his untimely death.[24]
He gives Link his reward, which can change depending on how many investigations they have already done already. He then wishes him well and takes off with his signature flourish.[25][26]

You see, I was by the debris near the three-way intersection up ahead when a woman came up to me. "Please! Please, you have to help her!

The woman sounded really desperate, so I decided to follow her.

But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't keep up.

Hey, partner...
— Penn (Tears of the Kingdom)
Does something strike you as odd about this person whose identity can't be revealed? And if revealing who she is to strangers is dangerous... Could she be someone of great importance? And if her life is already in danger...
Well, combining these facts makes me wonder if this isn't actually a particular, important person who has gone missing. I can't be sure, of course, but if there's a slight chance...
There's only one way for us to know for sure though. We'll have to peck away at this news and see what the truth is! - ↑
...Now that I'm thinking about the whole thing again, why was that woman staring so hard at my hair? How strange.
— Nell (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑
Oooh nooo... My poor friend... Please, you must save her...
— Ralera (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑
B... B... Blond hair...
— Ralera (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑
I do not know who you are, but I ask that you please help me!
— Ralera (Tears of the Kingdom)
My poor, regal friend's life is in danger! I cannot reveal who she is, for that would only make things worse... She's in hiding and unable to move. My friend is in such danger...
Please! I cannot help her all by myself! - ↑
Oh, thank you so much!
— Ralera (Tears of the Kingdom)
My friend is in hiding right now. That is the only way for her to remain undetected by those with ill intent! - ↑
We should go to where my friend is... But! Be careful not to be seen. We do not want to draw evil to her!
— Ralera (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑
My apologies for leaving you behind. I was overtaken by my concern for my friend...
— Ralera (Tears of the Kingdom)
She is resting safely out of sight. It is the only way to stay safe. - ↑
Could you possibly go to the top of that cliff?
— Ralera (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑
We can meet right where you can see the fallen debris!
— Ralera (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑
It must be him, then...
— Ralera (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑
She is waiting nearby, around the debris on the opposite cliff.
— Ralera (Tears of the Kingdom)
I will go on ahead and let her know that you are coming! - ↑ 17.0 17.1
I am sorry for all of that. It was important for me to test you.
— Ralera (Tears of the Kingdom)
Blond hair, courage to overcome a challenge. And then another challenge. And then another! Oh, and your disgusting, unwavering commitment to do "good."
You are Princess Zelda's chosen bodyguard, the swordsman Link, correct? - ↑
Hehehe, I am so glad to finally meet you. Now I can take you to the last stop in our little journey.
— Ralera (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑
Your grave! Haha!
— Ralera (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑
I'll... I'll let you off this time.
— Yiga Footsoldier (Tears of the Kingdom)
But don't expect such mercy next time. Prepare yourself! - ↑ 21.0 21.1
So this is where your investigation took you. Looks like you really got yourself out on a limb there! I've been scouting from the skies, trying to get to the bottom of this story. I heard that woman was luring people away... I thought I heard her voice, so I swooped on down. And, hey, here you are!
— Penn (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑
So tell me... What have you unearthed?
— Penn (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑ 23.0 23.1
What's that? The woman who was asking for help was actually a member of the Yiga Clan? So she disguised herself as a villager and was trying to lure the princess's appointed knight to a trap... It really is some impressively bad luck that they keep coming after you instead, isn't it?
— Penn (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑
I'm glad I don't have to write a headline like, "Junior Reporter Falls to the Cruel Blade of the Yiga in Pursuit of Truth!"
— Penn (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑
Anyway, it's time I took off and turned these unusual details into an article. You take care, partner!
— Penn (Tears of the Kingdom) - ↑
