walkie does not use servers, so your messages never leave your network or connected peers. Communication happens directly between devices, reducing the risk of data leaks. Firewalls and antivirus software may ask for permission to allow the app to work properly. Granting this permission keeps your connection secure and functional.
If you have issues starting or using walkie:
- Make sure your Windows version is supported (Windows 10 or later).
- Check that your firewall or antivirus allows walkie to communicate.
- Confirm that both devices are on the same network or correctly connected over the internet.
- Restart the app or your device if messages do not send.
- Verify you downloaded the correct Windows version
.exefile.
walkie has no complex setup. You can configure:
- Network ports it uses (change in settings if default ports are blocked).
- Manual IP addresses for connecting to peers.
- Message encryption (enabled by default for secure communication).
Access these via the settings menu in the upper right corner of the app window.
