AI Infrastructure and Regional Electricity Demand: Evidence from U.S. Interconnection Queues
Between 2019 and 2025, electricity demand in ERCOT grew 27 percent while PJM and MISO were flat. This paper estimates how much of that divergence data center investment can explain using a four-layer identification strategy: panel regression, synthetic control, difference-in-differences with low-exposure controls, and narrative validation. Headline result: 34.8 index-point divergence in ERCOT minimum hourly demand above a synthetic counterfactual. Documents the absence of public load-side queue data as a policy finding.

The Missing Half of the Queue: Why FERC Should Require Load-Side Interconnection Queue Disclosure
A policy brief arguing that FERC should require grid operators to publish large load interconnection queue data on the same terms currently applied to generation interconnection. Grounds the recommendation in the empirical results of the companion paper, traces thirty years of FERC precedent through Orders 888, 889, 2003, and 2023, and proposes a specific regulatory mechanism under Sections 205 and 206 of the Federal Power Act that does not require new legislation.
