Basic commands

  • man # an interface to the on-line reference manuals
  • lsb_release # print distribution-specific information

File management

  • uptime # Tell how long the system has been running

System management

  • runlevel # Print previous and current SysV runlevel
  • halt # halt the machine
  • shutdown # power-off the machine
  • reboot # reboot the machine
  • init # systemd system and service manager
  • systemctl # Control the systemd system and service manager
