The release is now out, and the whatsnew has some guidance about various options to deal with text changes. Note conda-forge has always built Matplotlib with the latest Freetype, which is why Iris is well used to updating images for text changes when Maplotlib releases. For projects that use PyPI wheels, this is much more unusual as Freetype was pinned to the same version for a long time. |
