About Laravel

Laravel is a web application framework with expressive, elegant syntax. We believe development must be an enjoyable and creative experience to be truly fulfilling. Laravel takes the pain out of development by easing common tasks used in many web projects, such as:

Laravel is accessible, powerful, and provides tools required for large, robust applications.

Learning Laravel

Laravel has the most extensive and thorough documentation and video tutorial library of all modern web application frameworks, making it a breeze to get started with the framework. You can also check out Laravel Learn, where you will be guided through building a modern Laravel application.

If you don't feel like reading, Laracasts can help. Laracasts contains thousands of video tutorials on a range of topics including Laravel, modern PHP, unit testing, and JavaScript. Boost your skills by digging into our comprehensive video library.

Docker (FrankenPHP)

This repository includes a production-oriented Docker setup based on FrankenPHP:

  • Dockerfile
  • Caddyfile
  • .dockerignore

Build the image:

docker build -t laravel-frankenphp .

Or run with Docker Compose:

docker compose up --build -d

Run with the optional MySQL service profile:

docker compose --profile db up --build -d

Run the container:

docker run --rm -p 8080:80 \
  -e APP_KEY=base64:REPLACE_WITH_YOUR_APP_KEY \
  -e APP_ENV=production \
  -e APP_DEBUG=false \
  -e SESSION_DRIVER=file \
  -e CACHE_STORE=file \
  laravel-frankenphp

Then open http://localhost:8080.

Notes:

  • The image serves Laravel from public/ through FrankenPHP+Caddy.
  • Vite assets are built during the image build and copied to public/build.
  • By default this project is configured for SQLite; configure DB_* environment variables if you use MySQL/PostgreSQL.
  • If you keep database-backed session/cache drivers, run migrations before serving traffic.
  • Compose defaults to SQLite (app service only). Use --profile db to start MySQL as well.
