Bug Report: Video mode fails on Wayland (AMD RDNA4 / Bazzite)
Environment
- OS: Bazzite (latest)
- Desktop: KDE Plasma (Wayland)
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT (RDNA4)
- Mesa: RADV
- Lumux: 0.6.2 (Flathub)
- Hue Bridge: Bridge Pro
- GStreamer Runtime: 1.26.11
Description
Lumux connects to the Hue Bridge successfully, detects my Entertainment Area, and Reading Mode works correctly.
Video Mode starts normally, asks for screen capture permission, and I can select the display to capture. The screen sharing portal is active (red indicator appears), but the lights remain gray and never react to screen content.
What works
- Bridge discovery
- Authentication (Bridge button)
- Entertainment Area detection
- DTLS connection
- Reading Mode
- Screen capture permission dialog
- Screen selection
What does not work
Video Mode never updates the lights. They stay gray until Video Mode is stopped.
Relevant log output
Connected to Hue bridge
Entertainment streaming activated
Entertainment stream connected with 5 channels
Requesting screen capture permission via portal...
Portal session started. PipeWire node: 102
Failed to map buffer (format=RGB, 2560x1440)
This likely means DMA-BUF buffers are being received.
Pipeline config 1 exception:
gst_parse_error: could not link videoscale0 to sink,
videoscale0 can't handle caps
video/x-raw, format=(string)RGB,
width=(int)320,
height=(int)180
GStreamer pipeline warning:
Internal GStreamer error: code not implemented.
Warning: Entertainment stream not connected, skipping update
Additional information
glupload is present and available inside the Flatpak (gst-inspect-1.0 glupload works correctly).
- Reading Mode continues to function normally.
- The issue appears only in Video Mode.
- The problem seems related to handling DMA-BUF/PipeWire frames on Wayland, causing the GStreamer pipeline to fail before frame processing begins.
Please let me know if you'd like me to test a development build or provide additional logs.
