John Ford het sy derde Oscar gewen vir beste regisseur, ook vir How Green Was My Valley .
Die aandag was gevestig op die wedywering om die prys vir beste aktrise tussen twee susters, Joan Fontaine in Alfred Hitchcock se Suspicion en Olivia de Havilland vir Hold Back the Dawn .
