Galaxy angel: a comedy show that sometimes made me really laught out loud, with a bit of serious parts (but only a bit once in a while, and it almost suddenly mixed with crazy comedy again) and some parodies from other animes.

It was really good show, it was of great amusement, even if it became a bit too senseless from time to time.
Basically this show is about the adventures of five girls, everyone of them of a different (and stereotipized) kind, working all together to complete their missions.
The story takes place in a distant future, and the common denominator of all the missions is the reserch for the "lost technology", unknown devices that where left by early humans.
The girls are really one the opposite of another, so they are really a bunch of characters that don't mix very well, and alltogether this makes the comedy even more funny and brainless. Pratically there aren't serious missions, and this adds even more craziness to the whole.

Animation is good,
every character is designed almost perfectly, and only in one episode there is some reuse of frames, but that choice was obviously took intentionally and not to save work. Colors are very bright, and all goes very smooth. The design of the background isn't something to be amazed, on the contrary usually it is very simple, but I think this suits well a comedy show as this one. Pratycally you don't have the chance to take a look at the spaceships, and futuristic elements are well drawn, even if them are again a bit simply.

Sound is very good.
Opening theme is really funny, to watch and to hear, and the closing one is soft and enjoynable. Background music isn't something that will be remembered, but it never becomes nasty and doesn't took away the attention from what is happening. Voice actors are really good! In this show there aren't important names, I think that for a couple of them this was the very first anime they acted in, but all of them do well their work, well characterizing their given characters. I think they will have the chance to prove theirselves worthy again in some new anime, because their work was really superb in this one.

There isn't a story,
every episode is by itself, and you pratically never hear something usefull about this famous lost technology. The whole is only brainless, funny comedy, without even tring to make a background story to recombine all the episodes together. Even the plot of the single episodes is nothing to be mentioned, and a lot of times you'll get only a brief introduction in order to have the characters throwed into action as soon as possible. I think that they could have bringed something better in this, because brainless comedy is good, but in the long run it becomes a little weak. Don't get me wrong, you'll always get your good bunch of laughts, and jokes are never twice the same ones, only I would have preferred something A BIT more deep.

Characters are all very well personified,
but pratically they get no development at all.
In a couple of episodes you get to know something about their background, but they never change, and they interact almost always in the same way. All of them have a bit of cinism in their personalities, and I liked and disliked each of them in turns. Ranpha is really hot I must say -_^

Good rewatching value,
perhaps in company, or if an episode really made you laught so much that you couldn't resist watching it a second time (and I think that it is something is going to happen to you). But I don't think you'll retake it as a whole, and don't forget there are two more seasons as well.

Enjoyed it a lot!
The crazy comedy is really something that you have to watch from time to time, it is so brainless, so focused only on laughting as much as you can, that you'll feel better after watching an episode of Galaxy Angel -_^

PS
Watch "the story in the story" that is in the preview of the next episode, nothing special, but it is something more, so why don't?

Galaxy Angel is a good old-fashioned random comedy. A space/fantasy adventure surrounding the exploits of the Galaxy Angel Police Force, and how they bungle their way through every case they work on. It’s occasionally heartwarming, and consistently funny. What more can you ask for?

The animation is fairly good for a 2001 release. Characters move fluidly, and often. Still frames are abundant, but not gratuitous. The character drawing style is cute and adorable, with the only exception being Forte’s heavily ecchi-styled outfit. From Vanilla’s quiet stare, to Mint’s bouncing Elven ears (or are they ear covers? I’m not sure), the character styles make you want to grab them up and hug them like you would a small kitten. The animation, while not terribly original, does get the job done.

The music is typical for a series such as this, with a playful and child-like opening and ending theme. Background music is equally childish, playing up the goofy randomness of the series. The Seiyuu do an excellent job, although the voice for Forte is a little too masculine, so much so that I originally thought a man was voicing her.

The characters are the high point of Galaxy Angel. Being a random comedy, character development is non-existent. However, the characters in Galaxy Angel have a plethora of amusing character quirks that make them both funny and enjoyable to watch. Forte’s fascination with firearms, Vanilla’s quiet yet extreme religious views (definitely the most original member of the cast), and Mint’s logical personality that is in constant battle with her child-like nature (watching her battle her desire to don the chicken costume in one of the episodes is one of the funniest moments in the series) all add to the humor, making it easy to sit through multiple episodes at a time.

My favorite would have to be Milfeulle, with her bright pink hair, boundless naïveté, the ease with which she breaks into tears, and her almost god-like penchant for good luck. Like the baby in Tokyo Godfathers, it is made apparent from the moment she appears on screen that nothing bad will ever happen to her, ever.

Like most random comedies, the story has no real beginning or end, made all the more apparent when you take into account the three equally random sequels. Galaxy Angel is a 26-episode slice of life, documenting 20 or more criminal cases handled by the Galaxy Angel police force. Not all of the episodes are comedy, however. A few episodes manage to evoke some truly heartfelt feelings, such as the one where the Angels return a dying man’s student ID to the school he went to as a child, that has been left abandoned and crumbling.

Now, the answer to the three most important questions: Is it funny? Yes. How often is it funny? Quite often. It’s funny when it wants to be, and heartwarming when it isn’t. How funny is it? No real belly laughs to speak of, but I did do quite a bit of chuckling and quiet laughing. Galaxy Angel is more cheerful than funny. It is an entertaining watch, which I would recommend to any fan of random comedy. It’s not the best of the bunch, but what it does, it does well, and with only 12 minutes per episode, it never overstays it’s welcome. A welcome edition to my ever-growing comedy collection.

I first got into Galaxy Angel from that simdate game on newgrounds. Awesome and fun game, I must say - exploits the craziness of this series into a wildly insane and obscene simdate game. Pure awesomeness.

After the awesomeness (along with the original fanservice that came with the game), I decided to see what this is all about - I found the perfect sci-fi comedy with amazing concepts and stories.

Since this is a sci-fi world, animation is very welcoming. Extravagant cities, technology, planets, and spaceships are drawn really well. Too bad they still use today's guns - no laser guns. :(

A crazy cast of characters (each with their own colour) creates gold comedy stories with each other. Set on finding this "lost technology" (and I'm still intrigued by it), the brigade of girls go around the galaxy suppressing whatever they meet, solving problems, getting involved in wars, getting chased by police for their misunderstood acts, etc.. I just love this series.

Why am I repeating what people have said? This is an awesome comedy series worthy of boredom. Unfortunately, since they're all one-shot stories, it's very hard to actually be motivated to watch it. Take your time and relax with the Angel Brigade!
