If you love Rumiko Takahashi's work, you'll appreciate this anthology of one-episode stories.
There's more character development and depth in each episode than there are in many entire series. Rumiko Takahashi is the William Strunk (Strunk and White, The Elements of Style) of anime, “…every word tell(s)”, and there is not a speck of filler.
(Note: the opening music is HORRENDOUS, but the closing theme is wonderful.)
Superficially funny, yet fundamentally depressing episodes address chronic Japanese social ills such as life-destroying gossip, status-based bullying, and claustrophobic social enmeshment. A '10' for artistic mastery, brought down to a '9'; if you're gonna remind me of this crap during my 'anime time', please at least let Guts or Hoshimaru provide the needed catharsis!
