When People Trade Capitalism For Socialism

Wednesday, November 5, 2025

Stupid Voters Have Spoken

Above, Zohran Mamdani.

Last night's election results were not much of a surprise. The only thing they show is that stupid people should not be allowed to vote.

In New York, Zohran Mamdani became the city's mayor-elect. An avowed socialist (some even go so far as to refer to him as a communist due to his past policy statements) will likely drive more people out. Well, those people who voted for him deserve the chaos he will bring to the city. Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who ran as an independent, never had a chance. He was damaged goods even before he entered the race.

In California, Gov. Gavin Newsom's Proposition 50 passed. No surprise there. California is essentially already a one-party state and there are enough idiots there to vote for the measure. Not much will change as a result, except the few remaining Republican members of congress are now in danger of getting Gerrymandered out of office.

It appears that the current government shutdown had little or no effect on the election.

The rest of us can sit back and watch the shit-show circus as it unfolds.

RPNM: “Comrade Kamala’s” Communist Economic Proposals

RPNM Statement on “Comrade Kamala’s” Communist Economic Proposals

ALBUQUERQUE, AUGUST 16—Today, Kamala Harris unveiled part of her economic plan to combat inflation, but it reads more like it was written by Stalin, Maduro, or Castro than someone running to be President of the United States.

Most concerning was her proposal to target "price gouging" by implementing price controls—a failed economic policy implemented in socialist and communist countries that has had devastating consequences.

Additionally, Harris blamed corporate greed for national price increases, which numerous economists, including the Federal Reserve, have debunked.

Even the traditionally liberal Washington Post criticized her policy as "communist," saying, "It’s hard to exaggerate how bad this policy is" and warned that "supply and demand would no longer determine prices or profit levels. Far-off Washington bureaucrats would."

The reality is Kamala had three and a half years to improve the economy, and she failed. Why would we trust her to do a better job now?

Under Kamala's watch:

  • The average New Mexican household is paying $1,018 more per month to purchase goods and services than in January 2021.

  • The average New Mexican household is spending $114 more on energy per month and has spent $4,846 more on energy due to inflation since January 2021.

  • The average New Mexican household is spending $131 more on food per month and has spent $3,436 more on food due to inflation since January 2021.

  • The average New Mexican household has spent $28,181 more overall due to inflation since January 2021.

  • Nearly half of Americans consider themselves "broke."

  • Nearly two-thirds of Americans report living paycheck-to-paycheck—up 8 points from last year.

  • 61% of Americans believe the economy is on the wrong track and 60% think the economy is weak.

  • Overall prices are up over 20%, food prices are up over 21%, rent is up 22%, and electricity has skyrocketed 31.7%.

  • Credit card debt is at an all-time high.

  • By 2-to-1, Americans believe they will be better off financially under Trump.

Harris and Walz form the most radical left-wing ticket in history, and the chaos we're experiencing in the economy, at the border, and with crime will only get worse if they are elected.

The following is a statement from Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce:

"Kamala Harris has proposed communist-style price controls that have historically led to food shortages, bread lines, and economic devastation. Kamala spent the past three and a half years approving massive spending bills that led to printing trillions of dollars, driving up inflation and making everything more expensive. Kamala attributed inflated prices to price gouging when the real problem is her and the economy-killing policies she supported as vice president. During President Trump’s administration, inflation was low, energy was affordable, real wages were rising, and the American Dream was more attainable than ever. New Mexicans are going to remember this at the polls in November."

Harris To Announce Soviet-Style Price Controls On Food

As one would expect from someone coming out of the Bay Area (i.e., San Francisco) of Commiefornia would propose, Kamala Harris will be announcing Soviet-style centrally administered price controls on food today.

At least, that's according to Breitbart.

They wrote:

Soviet-style centrally administered price controls on food and grocery prices will form part of the federal economic proposals U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris will unveil Friday when she finally delivers an insight into her 2024 policies.

Her address will mark the first time Harris offers a policy focused speech since she was anointed as the Democratic candidate in July and been roundly accused by critics since as being a policy-free zone, as Breitbart News reported.

The Democratic nominee is promising to institute a first-ever national ban on price gouging and price-fixing within her first 100 days in office in an effort to deflect many voters’ low marks for President Joe Biden’s handling of the economy.

Gabe Vasquez and The Big Lie Strategy

Above, Rep. Gabe Vasquez. Official photo.

The Big Lie.

That's a technique that despots use against their opponents. If they tell a lie often enough and loud enough, then people will start to believe the lie to be true.

Such is the case with hardcore leftist Rep. Gabe Vasquez. Last week, he lied that his opponent, ex-Rep. Yvette Herrell was against in vitro fertilization, which is not true and was so pointed out.

However, that hasn't stopped Vasquez from doubling down with the lie.

From the Piñon Post

Vasquez wrote in the melodramatic X post last week, “Extremist Yvette Herrell is in lockstep with Alabama’s Supreme Court. Republicans are taking away women’s reproductive healthcare rights & now they’re taking away the opportunity for loving couples to start a family. This is shameful & Herrell’s voting record is clear. Enough.”

Then in a recent fundraising email ironically titled “Hypocrites,” Vasquez’s team lied again, writing, “The Alabama Supreme Court just ruled on restricting access to in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. Gabe’s extremist opponent, Yvette Herrell, has a voting record that proves she would support measures just like this one and MORE at the national level.”

However, Congresswoman Herrell is not against IVF. National Republican Congressional Committee spokeswoman Delanie Bomar posted that “this is a blatant lie,” sharing an article from Axios that noted the former congresswoman’s position.

“Former Reps. Mayra Flores (R-Texas) and Yvette Herrell (R-N.M.), who are running for their old seats, said in statements to Axios that they support access to IVF,” read the article.

That's not stopping Vasquez or his hard-Left backers from continuing to lie. This is an old story when it comes to socialists and communists like Vasquez.

Back in 1981, President Ronald Reagan pointed this out about the Soviet Union:

Now, as long as they do that and as long as they, at the same time, have openly and publicly declared that the only morality they recognize is what will further their cause, meaning they reserve unto themselves the right to commit any crime, to lie, to cheat, in order to attain that, and that is moral, not immoral, and we operate on a different set of standards, I think when you do business with them, even at a detente, you keep that in mind.

Vasquez and his campaign are just following the usual communist playbook about reserving for themselves the right to lie and cheat to further their cause. Shameless.

8 Disturbing Similarities Between the Democrat and Nazi Parties

Over the years, the Democrat Party has been likened to either the Nazi Party of Germany or the communist parties of other nations.

Those comparisons have been, for the most part, ignored by people until recent years as people are seeing stark examples.

The American Thinker has posted an article by D. Parker on the 8 similarities between the Democrat and Nazi Parties. It is an article that everyone should read, I recommend sharing it.

It begins with:

Steve McCann's "Eight Startling and Uncomfortable Ways the Democrat Party Emulates the Nazi Party" was just the tip of the National Socialist iceberg.

The fascist far left have always had to lie to survive.  They've always been on the wrong side of history, and the only way they can remain viable is by gaslighting people on a full-time basis.  For decades, their biggest lie has been that the supposedly pro-freedom side of the political spectrum, imbued in the precepts of individual liberty and limited government, is somehow connected to totalitarian collectivist regimes that displayed the exact opposite of those values.

Anyone who has debated leftists for the past few decades has been subjected to the same bluff abuse in their trying to maintain that nonsensical lie.  But the close similarities between fascism and communism have been obvious for at least 75 years:

"In certain basic respects — a totalitarian state structure, a single party, a leader, a secret police, a hatred of political, cultural and intellectual freedom — fascism and communism are clearly more like each other than they are like anything in between".

—Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr., Associate Professor of History at Harvard, New York Times Magazine, Sunday, April 4, 1948

Even if you set aside the preposterous argument that totalitarians would also be proponents of liberty and limited government, there are still a myriad of parallel characteristics between the Democrat party and the National Socialist German Workers' (Nazi) Party.  That's what was so startling about the first eight ways.

Our follow-up along those lines will make the case even more.

California's New Vehicle Engine Rules and RVs

Above, well, at least it's a Jeep.

The lunacy that dominates many state governments in voting to phase out gasoline vehicles to deal with climate change is running rampant, predominantly in blue (or Democrat) states. Welcome to the new socialism!

California's unelected California Air Enforcement Board has enacted new rules that will ban the sale of new gas-fueled vehicles by 2035. That's only 13 years away, folks. The only way to stop this craziness is to vote out every damn Democrat!

RV Travel takes a look at how this affects RVs.

They begin with:

Earlier this week, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) enacted new rules with huge implications. Come 2035, with few exceptions, only new “zero emissions” cars and pickups can be sold in the Golden State. That will include many Class C motorhomes. It’s expected that another 15 states will follow California’s lead.

By 2045, most Class A motorhome sales will see the same fate. The only “gas burning” engine vehicles exempted from the ban will be “plug-in hybrid” units that will still be allowed under the 2035 ban. What will happen to RVers? What about other related services that could have a deep impact under the new regulations?

As for my own state of New Mexico, the lunacy is as follows:

  • New Mexico: Last month the state’s Clean Car Rule became the standard. The state will start phasing out gas engine powered cars, trucks, and SUVs in 2026.
That's only four years away! New Mexico is not a rich state. There's a lot of poverty here. How are people going to afford electric vehicles, especially those in tribes? For starters (pardon the pun), how are people going to afford to replace EV batteries?

Here's an example (and this is for a current hybrid vehicle):

We can start fighting against this insanity by voting out Michelle Lujan Grisham and every Democrat legislator in November!

San Francisco's "Cash For Criminals"

California constantly lives up to its "Land of Fruits and Nuts" image.

The latest is an insane "pilot program" in San Francisco (the looniest city in the state) to pay people not to shoot other people. In other words, "Cash For Criminals".

The city of Richmond already has a similar program.

From Fox News:

San Francisco is rolling out a pilot program that will pay high-risk individuals to not shoot anyone as gun crimes tick up in the city.

"These small investments can transform the lives of individuals, but they can also transform communities," Sheryl Davis, executive director of the Human Rights Commission, told Newsweek.

The Dream Keeper Fellowship will pay 10 individuals who are at high risk of being on either end of a shooting $300 each month to not be involved in such crimes.

I bet the taxpayers there are very happy over this!

In Dirty Harry (1971) the mayor of San Francisco (John Vernon) said:

The City of San Francisco does not pay criminals not to commit crimes. Instead, we pay a police department.

When I heard about this "Cash For Criminals" program a few days ago, the above lines came immediately to mind. A lot has sure changed since then.

Sharing of Scarcity

Above, the Gallup Walmart pharmacy section last year. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

When I was in the local Flying J travel center today, I noticed that some shelves in the grocery section were empty or nearly empty.

I have also noticed that some restaurants are out of some foods. The local Denny's was out of salmon last night.

What's going on?

According to Supermarket News:

Grocery retailers could be in for another wave of consumer stockpiling as COVID-19 infection rates climb nationwide due to the rapid spread of the Delta variant, new research from Inmar Intelligence shows.

Of 1,000 U.S. adults surveyed, 69.4% said they’re considering replenishing a current stockpile of groceries and other essential products as transmission of the Delta variant increases, Inmar said in the study, released this week. Forty-six percent have created a product stockpile in response to coronavirus, and 12% of those that haven’t done so said they now will stock up because of the Delta variant. Another 32.8% said they’re not sure if they will build up their supplies.

Isn't that just great? We can expect hoarders to hoard grocery goods, not just toilet paper.

This is like what happens in socialist countries where the sharing of scarcity is the way of life.

Travel + Leisure: "Four Ways To Help The Cuban People Right Now"

Above, yours truly at Havana Port in April 2919.

In April 2019, I took a cruise (one of the last ones before they were halted) to Havana, Cuba. I found the Cuban people to be quite friendly to us. Right now, they are suffering at the hands of their government and are deserving of help.

For those wanting to help the people of Cuba during this time of uncertainty, four suggestions have been posted from an unlikely source.

Travel + Leisure posted "Four Ways To Help The Cuban People Right Now".

They start it with:

In an unprecedented move, thousands of Cubans took to the streets in over 40 different cities last Sunday to protest their government. Cuba is a socialist dictatorship that has been ruling the island nation for over 62 years. Ever since Fidel Castro took over in 1959, Cuba has been subjected to a one party rule (the Communist Party of Cuba), which controls all forms of mediums and does not protect the right to free speech or assembly for its citizens.

The protests come as the country is facing severe economic scarcities in food, water, and other basic necessities. The Cuban government's domestic inefficiencies, combined with the U.S. embargo, has crippled the economy for decades. Adding fuel to the fire has been the pandemic, as Cuba heavily relies on tourism.

However, while citizens shared their grievances for the economic situation, they also protested their government. Chants like "libertad" ("freedom") and "Patria y Vida" (homeland and life), as well as explicit cries about the current president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, were heard everywhere.

After news broke about the protests, the Cuban exile community all over the globe rallied together with the protesters asking for the end of a dictatorship.

If you're looking for ways to show your support for Cuba, read on for how to help right now.

Above, a Havana bazaar in 2019. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Normally, I would direct readers to the website at this point to see what are the four ways to help. As this is important, I will now list the four ways. I'll still provide a link to the full article as it provides details on each along with donation links.

Here's what they suggest:

1. Write to your representatives.

2. Listen to Cuban voices.

3. Donate recharges to cell phones.

4. Drink some Cuba libres in Miami.

Rare Anti-government Protests Erupt In Cuba

Above, El Capitolio, the Cuban capitol building two years ago. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

It looks like the mainstream media in the U.S. are covering the mass protests in Cuba. It is too big to ignore, especially since videos of the protests are making their way in social media.

To find the videos on Facebook, for example, enter either #Cuba or #SOSCuba in the site's search feature.

From Gulf News:

HAVANA: Thousands of Cubans took part in rare protests on Sunday against the communist government, chanting, “Down with the dictatorship,” as President Miguel Diaz-Canel called on his supporters to confront the demonstrators.

The anti-government rallies started spontaneously in several cities as the country endures its worst economic crisis in 30 years, with chronic shortages of electricity and food.

Several hundred protesters marched through the capital Havana chanting, “We want liberty,” with a heavy military and police presence deployed after demonstrators massed outside the Capitol building.

Police used tear gas to disperse crowds, and at least ten people were arrested, while officers used plastic pipes to beat protesters, AFP journalists witnessed.

Diaz-Canel delivered a combative television address, saying: “The order to fight has been given - into the street, revolutionaries!”

“We call on all revolutionaries of the country, all communists, to go out in the streets where these provocations occur... and to face them in a decisive, firm and courageous way.”

The Cuban government shut off the Internet in order to hide the protests (not that there was much Internet service there anyway). But plenty of photos and videos have made their way onto social media.

Mass Protests In Cuba

Above, an image of Che Guevara looms at the Plaza de la Revolución in Havana. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

The biggest protests in decades are now happening in Cuba and the U.S. news media are largely ignoring it.

According to Fox News:

Thousands of Cuban protesters have taken to the streets demanding an end to the country's communist dictatorship.

U.S. officials on both sides of the political aisle issued statements on social media expressing their support of the demonstrations and expressed solidarity with the people of Cuba. They also shared footage, where protestors can be heard chanting "we are not afraid."

According to Florida Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar, Cuba's regime is shutting off internet on the island.

"The Castro dictatorship doesn’t want the world to see what’s happening," Salazar wrote. "Please SHARE & stand with these freedom fighters!"

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., called out the mainstream media for refusing to provide extensive coverage on the unrest in Cuba.

"Attention US media … in #Cuba they are rising up because socialism is (always a) disaster," Rubio tweeted. "Are you going to report on this so the world can hear their voices?"

Nevada Democrat Staff Quit After Socialists Gain Seats

All is not well within the halls of the utopia party in Nevada.

Democrat Party staffers quit after a slate of socialists gained seats of the party leadership.

From Fox News:

The entire Nevada Democratic Party staff quit after a left-wing slate of candidates picked up seats in the party's leadership.

The party's executive director, Alana Mounce, sent an email to Judith Whitmer, who won a spot as the party's chair on Saturday, notifying Whitmer that she and other staff members were resigning.

That included the party's operations director, research director, communications director, and finance director, The Intercept reported Monday.

Biden + Harris = California Everywhere!

Julie Strauss Levin, in The Tennessee Star, has penned an excellent opinion piece on what we can expect will happen to our country should Biden-Harris win the election.

The country would be turned into California on steroids!

Here's some snippets:

Imagine a country where rolling blackouts are a common occurrence, where gasoline-powered cars are outlawed, and all new car sales must be electric by a date certain.  Imagine a country where borders are open, sanctuary cities and towns are everywhere, where people here illegally are celebrated with lots of free things like healthcare and housing, and wage-earners pay for it all.  Imagine a country where the radical Green New Deal is thrust upon us (out goes natural gas, oil and coal; in comes renewables; goodbye to your warm/cool home) and a nationwide absence of forestry management causes out-of-control fires that threaten homes and air quality.

Imagine a country that dictates cultural norms, imposes a radical sexual education curriculum starting in kindergarten, where abstinence-only and religious doctrine education are prohibited, and parents may opt out on a limited basis only.

Imagine a country where police officers are ostracized and defunding police departments is the norm, where there’s chaos on the streets, and the mob is celebrated.  Imagine a country where a family’s home is no longer considered its castle.  Imagine a country where the Second Amendment is in the crosshairs and decimating it is the result.

A Biden-Harris administration will make California seem tame.  They will turn our exceptional country into California and pile on from there. Medicare for all, packing the Supreme Court, returning to the disastrous Iran deal and resuming payments to the world’s largest sponsor of terrorism,  re-joining the Paris Climate Agreement, and abandoning our strong and close ally Israel are all on their to-do list.

Wacko Socialist Virtual Convention, No Thanks!

Above, yours truly in profile in the white cowboy hat at the 1980 Republican
National Convention in Detroit, Michigan. Los Angeles Times photo.

Well, the virtual Democrat National Convention is over and done with.

There was a time when I used to enjoy watching the conventions of both parties. (I attended three GOP national conventions as a member of California delegation.) Not anymore. I have no desire to stomach the constant lying propaganda of the left wing that has taken over the Democrat Party. There's no moderate (or even mildly conservative) Democrats left anymore. The wackos have taken over. They're not just liberals, they're actual socialists and communists. This ain't your daddy's Democrat Party!

It is not surprising that the audience numbers for the convention dropped by around 40% from four years ago. Overall, the "convention" was a colossal borefest according to many sources. The virtual Republican National Convention will probably see a similar drop in viewership.

Then again, maybe not.

Since President Trump is also a very capable showman, the GOP virtual convention could see better viewership numbers than the Democrats'. Viewers will probably get some good entertainment, at least.

We shall see.

Democrats' Socialism Strategy Is A Loser In Texas

The Democrat Party is lurching ever further to the left and embracing socialism. The numbskulls who are running for their party's presidential nomination, along with congressional candidates, seem to think socialism is the key to power in Texas.

They have a big shock coming if they do.

Richard Greene has an excellent opinion piece on this in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

He begins it with:
All the speculation about Tarrant County and Texas transforming to Democratic control is nonsense, and some prominent leaders of the party on the left have recently and fearfully declared why that’s not going to happen.
As voters approach primary elections a week from Tuesday, Democrats should think about their choices.
If their candidate wins because he or she is clinging to the coattails of polling favorite and self-described socialist Bernie Sanders, then that “winner” will be easy pickings for the Republican alternatives on the November ballot.
That may be true of any local Democrat seeking state or federal office no matter which of the presidential contenders they may be aligned with among the entire field.
As long as the far-left policies that have dominated the presidential contest continue to develop to more and more extreme positions, those seeking to join the Texas Legislature or the Texas delegation in the U. S. Congress who embrace those policies will all lose.

And, Greene has some juicy tidbits of quotes from some prominent Democrats:
The legendary master of knowing the public mind who steered Bill Clinton from Arkansas obscurity into two terms in the White House, James Carville, has lately shown up in the national media sounding the alarm.
“This party needs to wake up and talk about things that are relevant to people,” Carville cried out in his MSNBC appearance. “We can’t act like this is going well.”
He was clearly frustrated that Elizabeth Warren had “decided to chase Bernie’s left tail all over the country” – a reference to the self-declared socialist Bernie Sanders, who’s appealing to crowds cheering for free stuff.
When Sanders responded by calling Carville a “hack,” his comeback was to say, “at least I’m not a communist.”
Then there is long-time NBC Democratic partisan Chris Matthews analyzing the results of the New Hampshire debate. “The issue of that campaign, it is that word, socialism. … Some people like it, younger people like it. … I’ve seen what socialism is like, I don’t like it. OK, it’s not only not free, it doesn’t frickin’ work.”
