Keeping Political Polar Opposite Friends

Above, I found out recently that Jessica Tseang is opposite politically
to me. We haven't ever discussed politics and I have plans to do so.

In this polarized era where conservatives and liberals are practically at each other's throats over this election campaign and politics in general, one wonders how friends who are polar opposites politically can remain friends.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, of course.

One can look back at actors James Stewart and Henry Fonda. Stewart was a conservative and Fonda a liberal. They both came from the same era of movies and were great friends, yet were very opposite politically. They managed to remain friends over the decades until death took them.

How did they manage to accomplish this?

It was simple. They did not discuss politics at all. Each knew where the other stood but did not raise the subject of politics.

I have some left-leaning friends. We manage to remain so because we don't discuss politics. We confine our conversations strictly to subjects that are shared interests such as movies, ECV, Godzilla, comic books, travel, etc.

So if one wants to keep the peace with friends who don't share one's views politically, just don't discuss politics.

Ex-CIA Agent Promoted to Meta/Facebook’s “Head of Election Policies”

If you thought that Mark Zuckerberg and company at Facebook/Meta will treat conservatives fairly in 2024 the elections, you'd best put that silly notion out of your head.

Zuckerberg and company has promoted an ex-CIA goon to "Head of Elections Policies". In other words, he will be in charge of censorship at Facebook.

From the Gateway Pundit:

As the Big-Tech censorship apparatus in social media continues to roll on at full steam ahead of the 2024 Election, a former 17-year veteran of the CIA, Aaron Berman, has reportedly been promoted to the “Head of Elections Policies” for Meta/Facebook.  Berman was a “Senior Analytic Manager (and various positions)” for the CIA from March 2002 thru July 2019.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, infamously donated $440 million to the CTCL and other non-profits, including ERIC-founder David Becker’s CEIR to help “supplement” elections during COVID.  This money disproportionately went to Democrat strongholds, especially in the key swing states.

Facebook/Meta was also one of the social media platforms mentioned by the “Election Integrity Partnership” (EIP) and Stanford Internet Observatory in a report, which promoted the censoring of hundreds of thousands of posts and conservative voices from discussing events that occurred around the highly-suspect 2020 Election.  The report published by the EIP, titled “The Long Fuse”, laid out, among other things, how the government and election officials could use the EI-ISAC as a “singular conduit” for reporting ‘misinformation’ to social media platforms in an attempt to subvert the First Amendment protections of US citizens against government censorship.

Ironically, as mentioned in the article below from The Gateway Pundit, the EI-ISAC, a subsidiary of the Center for Internet Security (CIS), was also engaged in “securing” elections at the county level through the Dept. of Homeland Security.  DHS offered free security services to county election jurisdictions, many of which accepted the offer.

The release of the Twitter Files revealed a plethora of former government bureaucrats, many of them former intel agency employees, that transitioned to leadership roles within the social media companies and were often responsible for the censoring of the respective platform’s users.  In continuing with that trend, Berman, who was previously the “senior product policy manager for misinformation” at Meta, has reportedly been promoted to the “Head of Elections Policies.”

Carlson's Show To Resume At Telegram

A friend saw this over at Instagram that was posted by Republican Post and sent it to me since I don't have an Instagram account.

Apparently, Tucker Carlson will be going to Telegram Channel (or whatever it's called).

Raquel Welch

Above, Raquel Welch in One Million Years B.C. Hammer Films photo.

It seems like only yesterday (actually, on September 5) that Raquel Welch's 82nd birthday was celebrated on social media.

Then came the stunning news that she passed away yesterday of a "brief illness". I decided to hold off a day before posting this.

As far as I can remember, I have seen three of her movies in theaters: One Million Years B.C. (1966), Fantastic Voyage (1966) and Myra Breckinridge (1970). I also saw her cameo in Naked Gun 33+1⁄3: The Final Insult (1994).

Above, Raquel and Duke in her first television special's TV Guide cover.

I may have seen her 1970 television special, Raquel. The photos of her with John Wayne from the special are very familiar.

According to Wikipedia:

In 2014, during an appearance on The O'Reilly Factor, Welch described herself as being on the conservative side, attributing it to her mother's Midwestern values. During the Vietnam War, Welch showed her support for the troops at United Service Organizations (USO) shows often appearing with Bob Hope.

That I definitely remember.

It is sad to hear of her passing away, but her legacy in entertainment history is firmly secure. R.I.P.

Rep. Kevin McCarthy Loses 2nd Ballot For Speaker

Hard-line conservatives of the Republican House caucus again defeated Rep. Kevin McCarthy's bid to become Speaker of the House in a second ballot vote. McCarthy needs 218 votes to become Speaker.

This sort of thing (more than one ballot for speaker) hasn't occurred since the Civil War era.

According to Politico:

Kevin McCarthy again failed to secure the votes for speaker in a highly unusual second ballot, as his dozen-plus detractors refused to relent in their push for fresh leadership atop the party.

This time, conservative hero Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) personally urged his colleagues to back McCarthy in a speech before the vote. Instead, 19 Republicans voted for Jordan on the floor — again sending GOP leaders scrambling.

It’s a stunning prolonged chaos on the first day of the new Congress. McCarthy and his allies will now attempt to quell the revolt, preparing members to take repeated votes as pressure mounts from their colleagues. It marked only the second time since the Civil War that a party needs multiple attempts to choose its leader on the House floor — with all business in the chamber, even the swearing-in of members, halted until a speaker is chosen.

It looks to be a long night.

UPDATE (1/4/23):

McCarthy has since lost a 3rd ballot vote with a defector.

‘Twitter Files II’ Exposes Blacklists, Shadow Banning, Targeted Censorship

A few years ago, I noticed a drop-off of views of this blog on Twitter and Facebook. I also noticed that when trying to Google this blog, the number of results also were low. It was obviously being shadow-banned.

Gary Julian, who runs The Federalist blog, also noticed his blog was being shadow-banned. His blog was also blocked by Facebook.

The Twitter Files II has exposed blacklisting and other means of blocking conservative posts.

From Headline USA:

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) A second explosive release of Twitter files that dropped Thursday exposed a concentrated campaign by avowed leftists at the social media titan to censor conservatives and suppress opinions contrary to the regime-approved narrative.

“A new #TwitterFiles investigation reveals that teams of Twitter employees build blacklists, prevent disfavored tweets from trending, and actively limit the visibility of entire accounts or even trending topics—all in secret, without informing users,” reported independent journalist Bari Weiss, who released a Twitter thread with the new information.

The egregious censorship was carried out by Twitter executives at the highest levels, who have all been fired from the company since Elon Musk became its Chief Twit. So-called “Trends Blacklist” that were created for suppression and censorship included a wide range of notables, including respected medical experts, politicians and conservative media personalities and outlets.

If there is a class-action lawsuit filed by James Woods or whomever, I will likely sign on to it.

James Woods On Intelligence

That used to be the case where friends could talk about any subject, including politics, and neither would get their panties in a bunch. They just agree to disagree and move on to things that they share a mutual enjoyment.

Some people really need to grow up.

David Gold Now Posting On Twitter

Above, a portrait of David Gold he used on Facebook before he disappeared.

It was great to see former Salem Radio Network talk show host David Gold on Twitter today. (His handle is @davidtalker.)

He has had some health issues in recent months and he had disappeared from Facebook completely.

But he's now back at least on Twitter. Hopefully, he'll be back on Facebook.

Welcome back, David!

Don't Jump Off The Cliff With The Flag Flying

People who get butt-hurt over primary election results when their favored candidate doesn't win and then vote for someone with a snowball's chance in hell of winning in the general election are stupid.

Case in point: there are those who feel Mark Ronchetti, the GOP gubernatorial nominee in New Mexico, is a RINO and does not deserve their support. Granted, Ronchetti was not my first choice, but he is the nominee and has the ONLY chance of kicking Michelle Lujan Grisham out of office. (If it makes you feel better, hold your nose while voting for him!)

Some are preferring to vote instead for Karen Bedonie. But she is only registering 6% in the polls. She may be more ideal to your way of thinking, but is it smart to subject everyone to another four years of Lujan Grisham? Then we'll end up with radical polices of the kind California's Gavin Newsom has subjected Californians to, turning the state into a shithole. Ronchetti may not be perfect (who is?), but he's our only chance.

If you think Lujan Grisham was bad in her first term, a second term would be worse. Already, the Democrats in New Mexico are salivating that if they retain the governorship and majorities in the legislature, they will hike taxes on New Mexicans. They are trying to force people into electric cars. They are trying to destroy the oil and gas industry. They are after our gun rights! Ronchetti has the NRA's highest rating!

If she wins re-election, you can only blame yourself for not voting for Ronchetti and have no business bitching and whining when things turn to crap!

Don't jump off the cliff with the flag flying!

Italy's New Prime Minister Has It Right

Above, Italy's new Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Italy's new Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, is a person to watch.

She explains what we're all up against and why this is a battle we must not lose.

The Left is already attacking her, calling her a "neo-fascist".

A quote:

"They want to call us parent 1, parent 2, gender LGBT, citizen X, with code numbers.

But we are not code numbers… and we’ll defend our identity.

I am Giorgia. I am a woman. I am a mother. I am Italian, I am Christian. You will not take that away from me!"

- Giorgia Meloni,

Joined Truth Social

Since Facebook persists on having "fact-checkers" stick their noses into conservative posts to inject their "opinions" (as stated in court a few months ago), I finally joined up with former President Donald Trump's new social media site Truth Social yesterday.

It is kind of like Twitter, except conservatives aren't harassed by "fact-checkers".

Tulsi Gabbard Earns Standing Ovation At CPAC

This morning, this Daily Mail (U.K.) story posted on Twitter by Bo Snerdley:

Tulsi Gabbard crosses party lines and goes after the 'power elite' in CPAC speech where she earns standing ovation for praising the Durham probe into 'Clinton corruption' and blasting FISA courts

The former Democrat congresswoman and presidential candidate wowed them at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference.

Idiot Bill Kristol: "No Border Crisis"

The lunacy of the "never Trumpers" of so-called conservatives has been maddening, but Bill Kristol really takes the cake for being the biggest loon of all of them.

The late great Rush Limbaugh had him pegged perfectly.

From last May:

RUSH: Like Bill Kristol today has come out and endorsed Joe Biden.

Now, how many of you people…? How many of you people gave Bill Kristol thousands of dollars to go on so-called conservative cruises with the guy? You know, after every Republican election when we would lose, Kristol or these guys would do their cruises to the fjords of Norway or wherever exotic places they went. You know, they’d take you to subfreezing temperatures in December.

They’d do their lectures and all of their appearances with their Never Trumper buddies, at the time you thought that they were conservative thought leaders, and they’re sitting there and they’re telling you, “Don’t worry, we got it. We might have lost this election but we’re still succeeding in implementing what we believe.” Then Trump comes along and they throw it all away. Their magazines go defunct, go out of business because their subscribers say, “Hey, these guys aren’t even conservatives, they’re ripping it!”

They start new magazines, new organizations. Now they’re endorsing Democrats. How many of you people gave these people all that money to go on these postelection cruises? I know some of you in this audience did. How many of you…? They have these… Some of them don’t go on cruises. They just book hotels for the weekend, and they call it, you know, The Vote for Us Weekend or the Conservatism Is Still Alive Weekend or whatever.

What prompted this was the above Tweet from Rush's former producer Bo Snerdley.

Yep, Kristol hasn't changed. He's nothing but a phony jerk. Maybe he wants liberals and leftists to cruise with him in subfreezing temperatures.

Remembering Rush Limbaugh

Above, Rush Limbaugh receiving the Medal of Freedom. Photo by Breitbart.

The first time I ever heard Rush Limbaugh on the radio was around 1989 while working at Superior National Insurance Company in Calabasas, California.

Glenn Thornhill and I were driving during our lunch hour and he had Rush on the radio. After listening for a half hour or so, I was hooked. His was a unique show. It was a conservative talk show, but it was entertaining with humorous parodies with hilarious results. From then on, I listened regularly, so much so that it will be life-changing for me. Who am I going to listen to, now that he passed away?

During that period, or shortly thereafter, Rush had a television show. It was politics mixed with entertainment. Favorite moments from his show included the aftermath of the 1994 mid-term elections where the Democrats got stomped and a skit with actor James MacArthur of Hawaii Five-O fame.

In L.A., the Rush Limbaugh Show was broadcast (mainly on KFI-AM until a station switch) from 9:00 to noon. Here in New Mexico, I listened on Albuquerque's KKOB-AM from 10:00 to 1:00.

His last broadcast was about two weeks ago. His voice started to sound gravelly and he admitted to feeling fatigued. I began to become alarmed that his time on earth was ending by his continued absence. But, a guest host this week said that last week was "treatment week" and he will be back when he can. I somewhat relaxed.

Then, this morning, his wife Kathryn came on following the opening theme (the Pretenders' "My City Was Gone") to announce that Rush passed away this morning at age 70. Totally devastating news to me. It was news we've been dreading.

Who can pick up the torch after Rush? Dan Bongino would be good, but he has his own cancer problems he's now dealing with.

It was amazing that Rush lasted as long as he did following his diagnosis of Stage 4 lung cancer back in January 2020. He was amazed he lasted as long as he did, he said so last Christmas. Speaking of Christmas, Rush played a lot of Manheim Steamroller Christmas music during the holiday season over the years.

Thank goodness President Trump awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom during the 2020 State of Union. Who else would have had the chutzpah to award it to Rush with all congressional Democrats present and before a national audience? Priceless!

We conservatives are in mourning today. But we can also be thankful that we had Rush's voice over the airwaves for as long as we did (over 30 years).

My condolences go out to Kathryn and the Limbaugh family. He will be sorely missed.

RIP to a legend and a patriot, Rush Limbaugh. Not many people can say they revolutionized and stayed at the top of an industry the way he did. My condolences to his family. - Senator Rand Paul.

REPUBLICAN PARTY OF NEW MEXICO CHAIRMAN STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF CONSERVATIVE RADIO LEGEND RUSH LIMBAUGH

Albuquerque, February 17—The following is a statement from RPNM Chairman Steve Pearce on the passing today of radio icon Rush Limbaugh:

“Rush was a giant in radio and in the conservative movement. He was a true inspiration for everyone who treasures conservative values and principles.  He was a voice that carried so many important messages and truths in politics and other arenas. I met Rush at my Congressional Orientation in 2003, and he inspired me and encouraged me to always fight for conservatism and to stand up for our cherished freedoms and American ideals.”

What Happened To David Gold?

Above, one of David Gold's post-election posts on Facebook.

One of my sources for conservative commentary (and some news) was via former talk show host David Gold's Facebook page.

I noticed this morning that I hadn't seen any postings of Gold's on Facebook. Since I am a follower (or was), I did a search of my Friends list and he wasn't there.

Then, I did some general checking and his Facebook page is gone.

I don't know if his page was removed by Facebook or he elected to remove it himself.

I checked his Twitter account and he's there, but hasn't used it in 3 years.

If anyone knows what happened (or David himself), please post a comment.
