Getting back to the painting table.

Now that the temperature is dropping around here it is time to pick up my paintbrushes again instead of sitting outside in the sun with a cool drink in my hand. Not that there is something wrong about that.
On the painting table can be found the following platoon for my French Escadron de Reconnaissance Compagnie.

Also another great thing about this beautiful weather is that you can prime your miniatures outside instead of some indoor room where you have to make sure that there is enough ventilation.

In the background a Firefly VC can be seen. This one will be included in the Guards Armoured platoon for my 101st Airborne division.

Thanks for reading.

Again changes to V3 Approved army files.

Because Battlefront keeps constantly changing some of their V3 Approved army files I again have to make changes to two army files. Which is sometimes a little frustrating.
In this case it are the following 2 files:
-Glider Rifle Company Market Garden PDF (3v2.2) Approved
-Grenadier Guards PDF (3v2.1) Approved
In both PDF briefings the Anti-Aircraft platoons have been changed. It has been split up in a normal Anti-Aircraft platoon and an Anti-Aircraft (SP) platoon. These changes now also been made in the Army files.

Further I uploaded 3 Under review files. One is a new one and two are updated ones.
The new one is:
-Turning Tide - 3rd Canadian, British 3rd, 50th T&T Infantry Divisions (3v1.0) Under Revie
The two updated ones are:
-Turning Tide - US Airborne Divisions (3v2.0) Under Review
-Hell's Highway - US Airborne (3v2.0) Under Revie
In the note sheets of these three file you will now find the following sentence:
This is an Under Review Army File. Some of the Stat and Diagram changes are assumptions by me based on the Forces book from the V3 bundle and V3 approved PDF briefings.
Keep this in mind when you use these files.
These are also the last Under Review files I made or change. At the beginning of June the Know Your Enemy book will be available. This book will bring all Late War army-books up to date with the V3 rules.
Go here: Army files or click on the Files link under the title-header and look for the right file to download.

Poles in Italy army file updated to V3 Aproved.

Between work and doing some painting I found some little time to update one of my army files to the V3 rules. It's the Poles in Italy PDF (3v1.0) Approved file.
There is an Excel and a ODS file, as usual. You can find the files here: Army Files.
Or click on the Files link under the header.
May you found errors or something ain't working the way it should let me know.

Info for those who also go to the Mediafire website to download army files.
I started to remove all army files based on the V2 rules. It is a cleaning up.
I started with the files for the old books because these are several years old and no longer up to date.
Also all the Excel 2007 files are removed. Simple because I can no longer update these and the normal Excel file will work with all Excel versions.
All V2 army files based on old V2 rules PDF briefings, (PDF briefing that are now update to V3 approved, mostly Late War pdf briefings) are removed.
The rest will be available but as soon as I update one of my files to V3 (approved or under review) the V2 file will be removed.
I won't update files made by other people. So there comes a time I will remove these V2 files too.

Irregular Magazine Issue 12

The people of Irregular Magazine have uploaded a new issue. Issue #12 / Spring '12. First thing to mention is that Irregular magazine has a new web address: http://www.irregular-magazine.com/ .
Let's take a look what can be found in this new issue.
First there is an article about IMP 2012. I quote: "Sheffield Irregulars, in association with Patriot Games and Baccus 6mm, are proud to present Irregular Miniature Paintfest 2012. This is our fourth annual show, being held at The Workstation in Sheffield for the second year."
Next is an article about Empire, a computer game from the 70s and still being played today on the internet.
Followed by "Notables of Flathead’s Romance : Heroes and Villains for Traveller RPG"
A nice read is the history article about Alaric and the Goths. Always great to read some history.
In the Artist Showcase an interview with Ian Garnett.
Leeds Royal Armouries. This is an article about what can be seen and found in the Royal Armouries museum in Leeds, England. Like swords, guns and suits of armour. Too bad I don't live in England else I would have certainly paid a visit.

In this issue there are 3 tutorials.
The first is about how to paint female faces. This tutorial I find very helpful and one I learned something from.
The second tutorial is Making planets, celestial bodies and space stations - part 2. I am not very interested in this one.
The third and last tutorial is called Basic Miniature Basing and tells more about basing a miniature. Nice read but if you already longer working with miniatures I don't think it tell much new things.

Three reviews.
The Masked Witches Brotherhood of the Griffon - Volume IV
Published by Wizards of the Coast.
Baccus Basing System
http://www.baccus6mm.com/
Heroes of the Elemental Chaos
Published by Wizards of the Coast

And of-course there is the Tuk Tuk comic by Will Kirby.

Personally I find the Irregular Magazine a better read the the Ancible. Though the last ain't bad either.
You can find the latest issue here: Irregular Magazine

The Ancible issue 15

Just downloaded the new Ancible magazine from their site. The magazine has 49 pages of information.
The articles:
Cutlass. This is a new 28mm skirmish game based during the golden age of sail with some unique twists made by Black Scorpion Miniatures.
These are in my opinion some great looking minis.
Andy Walker - On the Spot. An interview.
Star Trek Expeditions. A review of this cooperative board game.
Strange Aeons Expansions. Review of the 3 expansion sets.
Rougue Trader RPG. A write up about this RPG game.
The Last Word. A column.
I must say that this last article made me laugh.

The Ancible can be found here: Ancible

My 2011 / 2012 FoW project 9: Renault AMR-35 Reconnaissance Platoon.

The next platoon for my Early War Escadron de Reconnaissance Company is painted.
It is a Reconnaissance platoon with 5 Renault AMR-35. From these five Renault AMR-35 three are equipped with a 7.5mm MG and two of them have a 13.2mm MG as there main weapon.
As usual the biggest problem was adding the decals. For the French the decals are so tiny that you can hardly see them. Also you have the feeling it takes ages to apply them to the vehicles. Where you normally have the decals applied in a few minutes I think that these took me about 15 minutes per vehicle. And then who ever came with the bright idea to make the roundels in 2 parts, white + red circle and the blue dot, should be fired immediately. I almost went insane when I had to apply these to the vehicles.
Anyway here are the pictures. They are a bit shiny but that is because the lighting wasn't optimal.

I HATE BLOGGER

Yes I hate this fucking Blogger. With their so called great improvements and great new ideas and new gadgets.
The result. I no longer can post comments on somebody else's blog. Hell I can't even comment on my own blog.
When I started everything worked so well and nice I had no complains but now Blogger is completely ruined.

A pissed Blogger user.

V3 army files updated

The following V3 approved army files are updated to version 3v2.0.
- Glider Rifle Company Market Garden pdf (3v2.0) Approved
- 11th Armoured Division in Market Garden Taurus Pursuant PDF (3v2.0) Approved
- Grenadier Guards pdf (3v2.0) Approved
- Scots Divisions pdf (3v2.0) Approved

Notes:
1) The Glider Rifle Company Market Garden army file has still the option to include Brigadier General James Gavin and Major General Maxwell Taylor from the Point of the Spear file. This file is not V3 approved yet.
2) Not sure if these will be the final versions of the army files. I think there are still some mistakes in the briefings. So keep an eye open for more updates.
3) Let me know if something ain't working or if there are errors.

Go here to get the updated files: Army Files
Or click on the Files link under the title-header.
