Robert Bryan
Robert Jensen Bryan is a federal judge on senior status with the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington. He joined the court in 1986 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan.
Early life and education
A native of Bremerton, Washington, Bryan graduated from the University of Washington with his bachelor's degree in 1956 and from the University of Washington School of Law with his J.D. in 1958.[1]
Military service
Bryan served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1955 to 1957.[1]

Bryan was first nominated by President Ronald Reagan on December 4, 1985, to a new seat on the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington created by 98 Stat. 333. On January 2, 1986, Bryan's nomination was returned to the president at the sine die adjournment of the 99th United States Congress. President Reagan resubmitted the nomination on February 3, 1986. Hearings on Bryan's nomination were held before the Senate Judiciary Committee on February 19, 1986, and his nomination was reported by U.S. Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-S.C.) on February 27, 1986. Bryan was confirmed on a voice vote of the U.S. Senate on April 24, 1986, and he received his commission on May 7, 1986. Bryan elected to take senior status beginning on November 1, 2000. He was succeeded in this position by Ronald Leighton.[1][2][3]
