Late October Colors In and Around our Yard and Area --2015

So many different colors here (10/27/15)

We had a gorgeous October here in Fairfield Glade, Tennessee... I already posted some pictures from the first part of the month ---so today,  I'll share some from the middle of the month to the end. 

I'll also show you some FLOWER surprises in addition to the pretty Fall Leaves/Colors.. We have had a warm Fall,  with only one/two nights with temperatures in the 30's  ---so our Roses and Daylilies and Irises have really enjoyed blooming this month and during September.   I love having RE-BLOOMING flowers ---and it's so special to see them bloom during these couple of months... Of course,  our fantastic ROSES will bloom until frost ---so they just continue putting on a show for us also.

We took a trip to West Virginia the week of October 19 ---so we missed the 'actual'  BEST week for colors here in our area  (the colors here were actually prettier than what we saw most of the time in West VA).   BUT---we still saw beauty in so many places off and on all month... In trying to capture the colors on our trees,  I also managed to get the flag AND an ABOUT FACE ROSE in full bloom.  (10/26/15)

Beautiful Fall Colors near our home  (10/28/15)

WALTZ ACROSS TEXAS IRIS  (10/26/15) ---I love this yellow and white color in this one.  The purple and yellow ones behind this one are Blatant Irises.

DARING SPIRIT ROSE which George surprised me with one morning (10/27/15);  Most of you know that George brings me a rose inside to enjoy most every morning.  Right now there are 7 of them in the house blooming --just for me!!!!!   Isn't Daring Spirit gorgeous?

WELL---since we walk twice a day now in our area,  I have LOTS more Fall pictures to share sometime from our walks including walks along the golf course.  SO---maybe (when I have time),  I'll share more of our gorgeous Fall pictures with you.

Hope you have enjoyed seeing not only the pretty leaf colors --but also the flowers still blooming in our yard... They will continue to bloom as long as there is not a freeze/frost... So far---so good!!!!!!

Have a fabulous week/month... Thanksgiving is always one of my favorite seasons --and I like to enjoy it before even thinking about Christmas... But --I love Christmas also,  so we have a couple of wonderful months ahead of us... ENJOY LIFE to its fullest.

Today I am featuring our YARD in September of 2015.  I keep talking to friends and family about how gorgeous our ROSES are this month... Roses bloom here from May-October (or first frost)... The first blooms in May are usually the prettiest --but the Fall blooms this year have been fantastic!

Autumn Joy Sedum NOW  (9/27/15)

Remember the blog post I did on 9/14/15????   Well---if you missed it,  you need to go back and look at the difference in the colors in the past 2 weeks.  The Sedum is a gorgeous reddish/burgundy color now... It will gradually get darker and eventually will be brown.... Amazing how these change colors.

Pink Dogwood leaves changing in Fall  (9/27/15)

We still don't have much Autumn Color here on the Cumberland Plateau --but the dogwoods are beginning to turn... Pretty,  isn't it?

Four DEER in our Back Yard  (9/23/15)

I was standing on my back deck taking pictures... We have had quite a few deer around this time of year --trying to fatten up for winter  I guess... We saw 6 or 7 recently--but most of the time,  we only see 3 or 4 together.  As long as they stay away from our flowers (front and side yards) ---they can munch in the backyard....Deer are so pretty --and we have enjoyed watching the younger ones GROW up quickly.

Finally we are enjoying some of our re-blooming Day Lilies blooming this Fall.  This one is just gorgeous ---and stands above the rest as if it is IN CHARGE of the WORLD...  Don't you love seeing Day Lilies blooming NOW?????????


Well--hope you enjoyed seeing the Roses and the other 'stuff' today!!!!!   I do have a question if anyone knows a good answer.   For the FIRST time since I started putting out hummingbird feeders several years ago,  I am having trouble with BEES at the feeders.... Does anyone know how to get rid of the bees since they scare the little hummers away????  Thanks!!!!

Autumn Joy Sedum in our Yard --September 12, 2015

Hello Fellow Bloggers,   I just HAVE to share some of our crop of AUTUMN JOY SEDUM in our yard now... George's Daddy gave us these beauties several years ago --and I love them.   This has been one of the prettiest years we have had yet with these colorful FALL perennials.  And even though they say that these plants love the sun,  I have them in various places ---and some are definitely in the shade.. They are ALL doing well.

IF you want something that is hardy,  takes almost no care at all,  is resistant when it comes to most diseases,  is deer- proof----and one that gives a lot of color to your yard in the Fall----this one is what you want...

The neat thing about these little plants is that they begin one color ---and gradually change  colors as we go deeper and deeper into Autumn... They start out a very pale pinkish color (with almost a  very light bluish tint) ---and then gradually turn bright pink... Then ---the pink changes to a deep reddish color ---and ends with a rust-colored look (perfect for late Fall).

We have Sedum in 3-4 places in our yard ---and all of it is thriving and blooming right now.... Oh how I love these little plants!!!!   If you want more information about Autumn Joy Sedum,  you can 'google' it.. Here's one link I found,  so you can click HERE.

Enjoy our pictures.  I love Fall ---and our weather this weekend has been incredible.  The leaves are coming down (although we don't have any color much when it comes to leaves on our big trees).  BUT--we are having some signs of Fall (such as Burning Bushes turning red,  lots of Fall Wildflowers blooming, etc.)...  And this cooler weather this weekend will HELP.

Besides some Vinca that we planted (to replace the Pansies),  our Canna Lilies --and our gorgeous Roses----there isn't much else blooming here right now... Things are beginning to die out in anticipation of the upcoming Winter.

Some of our Autumn Joy Sedums are in our English Ivy/Vinca Minor (Periwinkle) bed.  It's nice to add color to all of that green.

Hope all of you are doing well... We are fine ---and trying to get back into the 'scheme of things' after our big trip to the Tetons and Yellowstone.  Maybe --one of these days---I'll get back to blogging on a more regular basis...
