After a really slow December and first half of January, I am now getting lots of calls, emails and work in.

Obviously, this isn't a scientific study, but it's worthwhile talking about the state of how work is affecting our Fedi friends.
49.4% of employed people are burnt out. 50% of those burnt out people actually like their jobs.
Work shouldn't have to suck this much. We need to organize our way out of this, along with livability for everyone so we're not all just wage slaving our way through life.

#Vacation ended and I went back to #work on #Friday. It was a low key day.
A couple things I've continued to do since starting vacation:
1.) The hour-long solo #winter hikes before work. This has done wonders for my #brain.
2.) Decreasing my "reliance" on #tech. Still using the flip phone for daily comms. My #smartphone is on silent, usage is significantly less, and only check in with notifications and messages a couple times a day.
Not that I am a sedentary person. Quite the opposite but as a #caregiver and #parent for a #disabled #child, self-care time is, by several orders of magnitude, significantly less.

- #Copyright to something should cease the moment the copyright holder refuses to offer the copyrighted work under FRAND terms. If buying isn't ownership than #piracy isn't #theft. Also #OneTimePurchase options [for a specific version] should be mandatory by law and #subscriptions only be allowed for products and services that actually incur costs to upkeep (i.e. bandwith and storage for hosting/streaming). Designing something as "#LiveService" when it has no reason (i.e. refusing to sell physical copies) to should be deemed a fraudulent circumvention of it.
- "#ClientsideAnticheat" is #malware and needs to be prosecuted as such. Any "#AntiCheat" should be Server-Sided only.
- #PriceGouging must be prosecuted harder, espechally when it comes to #utilities.
- Just like #FuelPrices at a #GasStation, so should #ChargingStations be mandated to publish their pricing publicly in realtime and not discriminate customers!
- Everyone should have a #RightToBanking without discrimination. Any closure of accounts must be legitimized by actual criminal activity (i.e. money laundering, fraud, terrorism financing, ...) and go through due process with appeals.

Today is a walk day, but the thermometer reads 32°F. Maybe later, once it warms up. I’ll play it by ear, though I know the longer the day stretches, the less likely I am to step outside. Discipline—that’s what I need.
CompTIA (Computing Technology Industry Association) recently reminded me that several of my certifications are expiring soon. If I don’t act quickly, they’ll lapse—though a couple remain evergreen. My ISC2 (International Information System Security Certification Consortium) CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) already ended earlier this year. C’est la vie. Those seals of knowledge won’t be part of my toolkit anymore.
If I ever needed to work again—which I don’t plan on—I could surely find something suited to my skill set. Dog sitter, perhaps; I already have a dog to sit with. Walmart greeter, however, is out. Patience is not my strong suit. Funny thing: whenever I walk into a store with greeters at the door, I feel the old conditioning rise up, tempted to present my military ID as if reporting for duty.
And what exactly is their job description? I suspect theft prevention lurks in there somewhere, which explains the cursory glance at receipts as customers exit. Sometimes I imagine a dystopian future where greeters stand in ballistic armor, armed with automatic weapons, while a robotic voice intones: “Welcome to Walmart.” 😂
