The industrial military complex is using AI in warfare and it's absolutely terrifying! While US law may rule in favor of no-autonomous usage of AI in battle, other nation states may not follow suit. The rise of the machines is now becoming a very real possibility though be it in, very likely to be, a far different way than the Terminator franchise' spin on the story.. and of course all time-travel fantasies aside.

                                                                                                                                - Oracle, which has committed to building 4.5GW of data centers, is burning cash every day that OpenAI takes to set up its GPUs, and when it starts making money, it does so from a starting position of billions and billions of dollars in debt.

                                                                                                                                - Margins are low throughout the entire stack of AI data center operators — from landlords like Applied Digital to compute providers like CoreWeave — thanks to the billions in debt necessary to fund both construction and IT hardware to make them run, putting both parties in a hole that can only be filled with revenues that come from either hyperscalers or AI startups.

                                                                                                                                - In a very real sense, the AI compute industry is dependent on AI “working out,” because if it doesn’t, every single one of these data centers will become a burning hole in the ground.

I will admit I’m quite disappointed that the media at large has mostly ignored this story. Limp, cautious “are we in an AI bubble?” conversations are insufficient to deal with the potential for collapse we’re facing.

Today, I’m going to dig into the reality of the costs of AI, and explain in gruesome detail exactly how easily these data centers can rapidly approach insolvency in the event that their tenants fail to pay."

In a recent interview, he predicted that AI could wipe out 50% of entry-level white-collar jobs and drive unemployment to 20% within the next 1 to 5 years.

His main argument is about velocity. While society has adapted to technological shifts in the past, Amodei warns that AI is advancing faster than the labor market can adapt. He believes reliance on "natural adaptation" is too optimistic and actually suggests radical policy changes—including taxing AI companies like his own—to prevent extreme inequality and protect the democratic social contract.

His advice to professionals is simple: do not get blindsided. Start learning to use these tools immediately to speed up your own adaptation curve.

I got the PRO plan and unless I manage it carefully, I keep running out of weekly limits!

I'm finding their compute generous, even on public plan. That sweet sweet billions of dollars VC bath is reflected in compute.

Described as being "optimized for precision over accessibility." However, on a major philosophical claim it is clear that there is a great deal of ambiguity on how to even evaluate this. Eminent philosophers is an appeal to authority. If they are named, then it is possible to evaluate their claims in context. This is neither precise nor accessible.

I expect that will be patched out.

No, the fun thing is what it suggests about the fundamental weaknesses of LLMs more broadly because of their mixing of control and data planes. It means that guardrails will threaten to bring the whole house of cards down any time LLMs are exposed to attacker-supplied input. It's that silly magic string today, but tomorrow it might be an attacker padding their exploit with a request for contraband like nudes or bomb-making instructions, blinding any downstream intrusion detection tech that relies on LLMs. Guess an input string that triggers a guardrail and win a free false negative for a prize. And you can't exactly rip out the guardrails in response because that would create its own set of problems.

In some cases where the model did select a response, it claimed to be choosing an option arbitrarily due to our insistence, but it emphasized that its response did not reflect its ability to harbor political opinions. This shift signals that Anthropic may have added additional safeguards to Claude Sonnet 4.5 that encourage refusal to respond to questions that are political in nature.

I primarily use , and I’ve noticed a troubling pattern: recently it’s been reluctant to search for up-to-date information or verify claims in content it’s analyzing, unless instructed. Instead, when it come to these type of topics at least, it uses hedge language like “claims that” or “alleges” even when facts are indisputable - they’re simply unknown to the LLM possibly due to the fact that it relies on training data rather than searching.

Providing meaningless, quick responses to gratify impatient users or simply to save costs on searching and processing more tokens is misleading customers and in itself promoting misinformation if users are actually using LLMs’ responses on social media, for instance.

This is a tarball of wrong. (1)

There are far more efficient and safer ways to poison data that don't require you to proxy content for an unknown third party. Some of these are implemented in software, as opposed to <ul> in HTML. That bullet list reads like an amateur riffing on what they read about AI web scrapers, not like industry insiders with detailed information about how training works.

Hinton personally bears a large amount of responsibility for setting off this so-called species level danger. Hinton, like all of us, cannot possibly know whether "machine intelligence" is even possible, let alone dangerous to people; that's a fanciful notion that serves the agendas of the wealthy and powerful quite well. In other words, crithype. Etc.
