One night in December while my brother and his wife was watching TV, a truck and a car collided on the road, the truck struck his car, which was parked in his driveway some distance from the road, and pushed it through corner of the garage

At the end of 2025 the so-called Private #Insurance Industry was greenlighted massive increases to premiums and the associated payments of co-insurance & deductibles. The 2026 budget will scrap virtually all of #Medicaid and most of #Medicare right after this year's midterm #elections. Particularly in rural areas, upward of 40% of hospital revenues come from Medicaid reimbursements which will abruptly cease. HUNDREDS OF HOSPITALS NATIONWIDE are likely to shut down and, in some areas, nearly all will sharply reduce critical services like primary care, emergency rooms, OB/GYN, pharmacy, dialysis, and pediatrics. Many of these particular services will be consolidated to other #hospitals far away with no transportation provided. Thousands will die, tens of thousands will be impoverished, as a direct result. A national #economic failure is more than merely likely. And without good cause; only to crush the Public and to transfer away the remains of its #wealth - our #savings, our #investments - for #redistribution to the untaxed parasites who create nothing, to further ensure that their next six generations will be exempted from the Social Compact.

There's a thread on here where someone's relatives are stranded abroad following a medical incident.
I don't know the specifics of that case but let me make a general point. (I might do a blog post as well).
We have experience of using travel insurance - here's my advice.
No matter where you are going in the world outside of your home country - you must have travel insurance with medical cover (that's 'must' as you're on extremely thin ice if you don't).
You don't know if you'll fall down steps, get hit by a speeding car, or get a random illness.
If you are British then your GHIC card will get you basic care in Europe, if you're an EU resident then your EHIC will be the same.
But if you need more than basic care (and it can be very basic) and/ or you need expensive medicine and/or need flying home then you will need travel insurance.
Your GHIC card may cover the medical bill but maybe not the medicines, care or food.
It's expensive but buy it.
My ophthalmologist ordered an MRI just to check the double vision issue I had some weeks ago.
In the meantime I changed insurance because "Republicans destroying Healthcare".

Well, I was thinking of canceling it anyway because it was clearly a lazy eye problem, not neurological.

But where were the insured parties in this file from?
From the Central Environmental Authority (CEA), https://www.cea.lk, the leading institution for environmental protection and management in the country.
Notification:
I notified the company on November 2nd via email to inform them of the situation and the information I was providing.
This matter was closed on November 5th without a response from the insurer.
I also didn't see any announcement on their website warning about this situation. Did the insurer notify the CEA (Central Environmental Authority of Sri Lanka) about the information I provided? We don't know, and we won't know, since no one responded to my emails.

This tendency of #Vance's is helpful to those trying to decipher the firehose of #falsehood spewing from this administration. Despite all #Trump's blathering about a "golden age" (for himself & his billionaire buddies, maybe), most Americans know what they see on their grocery receipts, rent, utility bills, and hyperinflated health #insurance premiums. Vance has no personality, but he sees the Trump train is derailing; his only option to keep what power he has is to switch onto a spur line. So he's breaking with Trump and claiming to side with ordinary Americans on the economy.
Don't imagine he cares about them, only their votes.
