I LOVED this project we made in Donna Downey's class!!!

It's an 8x8 canvas with Gelatos, inks, paper, stamps...oh, so much going on here!

And so happy for Candy Rosenberg's creation winning Fan's Favorite and Judge's Favorite of the show!

The detail here is over-the-top amazing...check out the bird.

Did you hear Graphic 45 had a Vintage Photo Booth???

It was so cool...hats, boas, fans...etc...here Charee and I posed for a really fun shot.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Graphic 45 family and all their products.

Definitely the Royal Family of Paper Crafting.

Sadly I didn't get one single shot of the booth...what was wrong with me??? I was too stunned to take photos I guess.

This is a T-shirt with the new Fabric Paints in a pen by Tulip.

I truly loved doing this class with Judy Haeffle from Prairie Art Stamps...she is such a talented Artist.

She paints like nobody's business...

  Soooooo many possibilities here.

Then we highlighted it with glitter.

I need to do it again to do it well, but you get the idea. They are PERMANENT when dry. Not heat setting involved. Brilliant!

Celebrate AMERICA!

Happy 4th of July to everyone!

The Inspiration Emporium DT had a July Challenge to make something Red, White, and Blue to "Celebrate America" for the blog.

This is the tag I came up with and it was really hard for me.

No stamps, no papers, not much in the way of ephemera to work with.....

So it took me a bit.

I started with a tag....the colors here are true. I wrote them on a protegee of the tag ...see the smudges?

Festive Berries, Antique Linen in the center strip and Faded Jeans with a bit of Broken China.

Just load up your Ink Applicator and run down the tag in stipes.

Now remember, I work at night, I'm a vampire...hence the night shot under the Ott light is a bit different than the completed project.

But if you want a tutorial, you'll have to take what I can get in the middle of the night!!!!

Then the Spritz and Flick with water drops....

I used a Julie Balzer Stencil, an older one with 3 sizes of drops on it.

Here I wanted to symbolize...BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS in the background rows.

I know the 4th is a Happy holiday, but I wanted to say there would be no HAPPY holiday without a lot of blood, sweat and tears from others. 

The tears were added with Aged Mahogany, Tea Dye and Pumice Stone Distress Ink.

Now, we're into daylight......

The little star buttons from Prima were inked with Distress Markers. Some on the front and one on the back for the correct contrasting color.

The Scrabble tiles had color added to the sides with markers as well.

Now, the wooden stars.....the large one has Suze's Disco Ball BeaDazzles on it.

DON'T YOU JUST LOVE IT????

And the smaller one is colored with various shades of Markers.

I added some white pen to accent the drops.

And the Mixed Media stamp over the background with Jet Black Archival Ink.

Layer it onto Black Chipboard, tie a couple of vintage seam tape ribbons on top and it's done!

The Bird and the Butterflies Tag- Doodling and Layering

HEY, EVERYONE!

Wow, I've finally gotten some time to watch the last 2 episodes of Creative Chemistry 101 with Tim!! And of course, he never fails to inform and teach. You cannot go wrong with these lessons, they are a mini Ranger U for sure. Click on the link above for supplies from Inspiration Emporium and start taking the classes.

Now for a bit of Tag Fun from me!

The Bird and the Butterflies

I think I've found my niche.

This tag and my journal pages make me happy.

And it's just a piece of paper....if you don't like it....wait a day and add something else.

That's what happened here. I made the background. Didn't care for it. A week later it called my name!

I had added color to the tag with watercolor crayons and reinker sprays.

 Then after using the unknown number stencil with the white paint dabber on another tag, I used Dyan Reaveley's technique of pressing the excess paint onto this tag...hence the backwards numbers here and blobby paint spots.

You can also see Stencil work here. I LOVE The Crafters Workshop Stencils!!!! Julie Balzer is amazing. I actually used one of her earlier stencils, Punchinella, but it has a mini section of the Chickenwire stencil that is linked above.

Tim used her Numbers Stencil in Lesson 4. Love it!

This  Bird is by Collections. I sprayed it with a long ago concoction I found in a Mini Mister.

Added a stamp from Artistic Outpost-Whimsical Melange and some white pen to make it stand out.

The  Tim Holtz Papillon stamps  were stamped over the sprayed background with Jet Black Archival Ink.

You can see the Butterflies and Numerals that have been highlighted with white ink.

I drew a few leaves in the top left corner and painted color with the  Distress Markers  on them.

I like my tags to lay flat. Therefore I mount them on heavy chipboard. Here I used plain old gray chipboard that I dabbed around some color with Distress Stains. Make it blotchy.

Then when it's dry you can glue your tag to it, trim leaving a small edge,

 and it will have a cool border.

This is one of the new Prima Wooden Buttons. I started to add color on the right, and decided to take a before and after picture.

This is the button after I added layers of color with the Distress Markers.

Cool, eh??? (For my Canadian Ranger U friends, yes, I am still prone to saying it years later.)

Here you can see lots and lots of doodling and pen marks. I freehand drew stars and outlined the butterflies with white pen.

The white paint blob has the new Tim stamp Mixed Media over it that added a really fun layer.

So if you want to practice journal backgrounds....try it on a tag to get your feet wet!

Hi, everyone!!!!! Lots of water, or ice, has gone under the bridge since I last blogged.

Lori Hassler won a great prize from Tim...go and look at her blog. She's been in my class with her sister. What a pair. We had a BLAST. And their table was a real treat!!!! VERY talented group, the lot of them!!!!!

Brittany, the granddaughter, is in her 1st year of college. So, we, Poppie and I, have given her a little incentive to do well by sending a bit of moolah for books!

MAN are they expensive!!!!!!!!

Brit has been known to throw herself, literally, on the floor, sobbing, because a card came from me with a BAR CODE!!!! (meaning it was store bought and not handmade...) Can you believe she's an Art and Drama person?????? She was going for affect, not reality.

So, today, not wanting her to cry on the kitchen floor, I made her a HANDMADE card. And enclosed behind the little box handle, a little check.

She is such a talented photographer and artist. You know how they can be????

The papers here were Creative Imaginations, with a touch of Basic Grey. Rhinestones from Prima, Stamper's Anonymous Stamps from Tim Holtz and Studio 490, and a fold out card from Lasting Impressions.

Technique ATCs Class-Bloomington

You asked for it, I hope you like them. The girls wanted to do a class with ATC's and this is what I came up with. Scrapbook Friend'z-Bloomington, Il. Sept. 6th from 1-3PM.

There are at least 6 or more techniques in here learned from the Master....Mr. Holtz! Ha! Lots of Ranger products to use, and Tim Holtz Collage stamps!

We're working on a date and it might be sooner rather than later. UPDATE(Sept.6th)

They were really fun to come up with. I did change the flower on one as it was too much like the other one. And added a little more bling....it was a snap!
Literally.

Card of Thanks

Had to make a card today to go with a project. So I thought I'd share it with you, since I've been rather bad about blogging lately.

This was really fun, the Maya Road chipboard is so cute, isn't it? Stamped a couple of Heidi Swapp flowers, used a Prima flower, a piece of Fancy Pants chipboard, and added a bit of Distress Ink....I know you're shocked. Stamped a phrase from Cloud9, put a touch of ink to the button brad....and layered it up. Done! The paper is from Memory Box...I LOVE this new stuff in 6x6 pieces in a package with 10 patterns!
