UnstampaBelles Challenge #23 - Easel Card

I needed a card for my Great Nephew, Riley's 3rd Birthday - it took a little while for motivation to hit, but when it did .......... I was on a roll!

I really enjoyed making this card ;-)

I printed this gorgeous image on white cardstock three times, hand cut out and layered various elements, highlighting with Kindy Glitz, gold stickers sentiment and stars have also been used.  I went through my stash and found the most perfect backing papers ;-)  Riley's name I created in Photoshop (using some newfound skills from my TAFE course, and cut out with Spellbinder dies and Cuttlebug.

The Bride 2 B

As mentioned previously, my niece is getting married at the end of October and we had a Tupperware Kitchen Tea for her yesterday.

It has been quite some time since I was at a Kitchen Tea, and even more time since I attended a Tupperware Party.

It was a whole lot of fun.

Some very close friends of ours recently celebrated their 20th Wedding Anniversary.

I can post a picture of the card I sent now that they have received it in the mail.  I know my friend has a quick look at the blog every now and then and I didn't want to spoil the surprise.

My Great Niece is 5 Years Old - ready to go to the Big School

I personalised this Clown Card for her - I hope she (well, her mum at least) likes it

It is a CUP card (see link on sidebar), printed, cut out and layered with 3D foam dots.  Highlighted with Kindy Glitz & Dimensional magic.  Personalised using the CraftROBO with a number 5 and her name, also layered with 3D foam dots and highlighted with Kindy Glitz on her name and Dimensional Magic on the number, strategically placed under the layers of the hands.

WOYWW - 28th July - 60th & 8th Birthday Cards

this is my workdesk this week.

A mix of sewing and cardmaking.

There were some lovely comments left on last weeks WOYWW - thank you - I haven't got around to seeing everyone yet, but I will ;-)

Julia was very observant ....... she asked what the salt pig was for and if I always took off my foam squares in neat rows  LOL   I confess, yes, I am a bit 'thingy' about taking off my foam squares in rows :-)

the salt pig came from a kitchen clear out - I thought it might be useful for something ........... I think I have just moved one piece of junk from one room to another ;-)

I have had a very busy week this week.  I needed two birthday cards - one for a 60th and one for an 8th - talk about opposite ends of the spectrum  and BOTH cards are needed this weekend - nothing like leaving it till the last minute for inspiration to hit!   LOL

 

The card for the 8 year old is for my nephew - the invitation arrived and made my decision on the type of the card to make very easy - a Harry Potter card ;-)

I try to make a personalised card when I can, and this card was no exception.  I do hope that he still gets a kick out of seeing his own name on the card.  I was inspired by an idea I saw over on CraftsUPrint  using a curved card base to make a wobble card - and yes, the card does wobble! 

Card was designed by me and cut out using the CraftROBO.  The font is a free one called Parry Hotter.

The next card for a very dear friend who is celebrating reaching 60!  There were times when he and his family thought he would never get there.  Just this last week he spent some time in hospital with heart problems and there was a possibility the party would be cancelled.  He is pretty tough, and was determined to be home in time to celebrate with family and friends.

Card was designed by me and cut out using the CraftROBO.  The base of the card is a metallic gun metal grey and the numbers and balloons are a wonderful holographic cardstock - unfortunately I can't seem to find where I got it from, which is really bad, coz I want some more.

Here is the inside of the card - the word 'celebrate' comes from a disc that came with the ROBO.

I didn't realise until hubby brought it to my attention ................... it is a bit of a funny shape when you can't see the '60'  LOL

boobs or bottoms ................ what do you see?

Either way, I know Alan will love it ;-)

Birthday Party Placecards, Christmas & Anniversary cards

I made up some more Crafts U Print items this week.

I just the love the shaped clown cards and decided to do something different with them and make up some placecards for a birthday party ;-)

I printed two files on one A4 sheet (clowns stand 5"/12cm), cut out and layered hands, collar, nose & hat.  Placed a gem on flower and made up a name tag and placed it underneath the top layer of the hands.

then I made my first Christmas Card for the year

File was printed on A4 cardstock, cut out & layered, then highlighted with kindy glitz.  My hands were getting sore with the cutting, so I tried another experiment and used the CraftROBO to cut out the layers. 

Topper was placed on a gloss card.

I then tried out one of the new teardrop shaped cards

This file was printed on white cardstock and as I was putting it together, I decided to reprint the front panel onto pearl cardstock and then layered the front flower.  Looking at it now, I think I should have placed the 'pearl 30' sticker on the front and put the hearts in the centre panel, where there is room to sign the card.

Fun with CraftsUprint!

I have known about the http://www.craftsuprint.com/ site for a while now, but until recently, have not done anything with their products.  That all changed this last two weeks.

I was taken with some of the clown files they had on offer - so here are some of my creations.

The response was very quick as soon as payment was confirmed via Paypal, the files were ready.  Downloading went without a hitch. 

All the elements required to layer the card are included.   In both of these cards, they were printed on white textured cardstock and highlighted with Kindy Glitz and Dimensional Magic.

This card is a 'wobble' card - you just give it a little push and it wobbles!  ;-) 

I will get a better photo of this card when the sun comes out and stays out  LOL

A sad moment for this Great Aunt

Shaun, one of the premature twins of my nephew passed away yesterday.   He died peacefuly in his mother's arms. He needed emergency surgery, and seemed to improve for a while, but deteriorated rapidly over the last 48 hours.

It breaks my heart to see my nephew and his wife go through this. 

I don't know about you, but when I am upset, I clean.  So I have cleaned the kitchen, the pantry and was about to start on the oven when I got the urge to cook.  So I proceeded to make up a batch of butter chicken and divided it up into single serves just for me ;-)  Of course, the kitchen was messy again so I cleaned again!

I came into the craft room to make a few sympathy cards - this was very hard to do.

After several attempts, I came up with this one - for Robert & Jade

I am still working on one for my sister.

I wasn't really in the right frame of mind to make cards, so I turned to my computer for something to do. 

I had been asked by a friend to make a card for her husband with a farm theme and decided to use an image from http://www.craftsuprint.com/. 

I printed on some gloss cardstock, but the ink would not dry and kept bleeding.  I then printed it out on some photo paper and that turned out lovely, but was not thick enough to make a card.  It took about 30 mins to hand cut the barn and all the animals out of the photo paper, then about another 15 mins layering.

then stuck it on some cardstock using JAC paper and hand cut the thick cardstock

YUK!   my cardstock edges were terrible and while I was putting it all together,

some of the ink rubbed off the photo paper! - one ruined card ;-(

Then I had a bright idea ;-)  how about using my CraftROBO - it can print and cut!  This 'print and cut' feature was the deciding factor in my CraftROBO vs Cricut debate.

Those of you who have used the auto trace software with the CraftROBO know that it is not as easy as it sounds.  Long story short, several thousand clicks & drags and 8 hours later, I have produced a card that I am reasonably happy with ;-)

I ended up having to make two GSD files for the print and cut to work - one for the animals and one for the barn.  If you look closely, there is still some work to do and I will fine tune my GSD file in the future so that I can use it again.

This exercise was a real challenge and I was glad of the diversion for a few hours ;-)

It really helps when you have some nice graphics to start with and this file from http://www.craftsuprint.com/ was a real pleasure to work with. 

I just hope I have not infringed any copyright laws by making a GSD file so that I could save a whole lot of hurt using scissor to cut out all the layers ;-)
I will be sending this picture to the CraftsUprint website so that they can see what I have made with one of their files.

RIP Shaun Robert Gibbens - you were on this world for such a very short time, you will not be forgotten.
