Enigmatic

jrdm It sounds filmic, dramatic and huge. It's maybe a lot more classicly cinematic than what vaporwave expects but it works. The guitar solo on Enigmatic is a great thunderous intro, Fallen is like the sound of a heroic catastrophe that the B-side needs to quickly sweep in and uplift, Sophistication is delicate, debonair and almost even Western, and Ballroom is honestly fantasy-like, really pushing the edges of the genre. A different and exciting listen charged with theatric intent. Favorite track: Lament.

JadeCoffee The sax in this track along with the somber motif is what makes this track so beautiful. Every track in this album really is wonderfully composed. PoY really has that musical inclination where their music is that good
Edit: Love this album so much i had to buy it a second time. This actually really just may be my favorite PoY album, ever. Favorite track: Temptation.

about

Based in Stockholm, Paradise of Yesterday produces late night lo-fi with a sense of clarity and immersion that almost invokes the cold northern metropolis -- even when distancing itself in tropical asides or niche concept albums. 'Enigmatic' is a darker and more moody outing that follows on a noirish strain first explored on 2020's 'Nightlife', released on the Gorgeous Lights label. PoY ciites old VHS soundtracks, personal memories, and lucid dreaming as inspiration for 'Enigmatic,' with French prog rock band Pulsar's 20-minute epic "Görlitz" as a particularly strong influence on its overall sound.

"The city lights shiver and dim, and everything begins a long march toward sleep. Philip Marlowe and Rick Deckard prowl alleyways in search of marks and elusive, rain-slicked revelations. Music pours out from random doors, and Stockholm’s Paradise of Yesterday add their noirish rumble to the late evening atmosphere." -Beats Per Minute

"This is a tape to hold on to, let it find its way to you when the temper of contemplation needs the correctly dialed combination..." -Lost in a Sea of Sound
