The rest of August I guess!

Continued chilled yet satisfying hobbying in the latter half of this month...

I based and converted some Epic Orks after the inspiration of our latest podcast on the faction, and the chance to face off against them in a game of NetEpic (coming soon to YouTube).

I also knocked out a few 28mm squads - some slightly fictional (as the real thing doesn't sit easy with me) 1943 German Kommandos using some DAK, Pioneer, and British bits.

Then closing out with a return to the grimdark future, with some Ad-Mech Sicarians. I've loaded these out with a mix of weapons rendering them 'illegal' in a game of 40k, but I went for the rule of cool here and really liked the look of the models this way!

Heading into September I hope to get some more games of Epic and Bolt Action in, as well as maybe paint some Orks and perhaps some more Ad-Mech to whittle down the pile of shame a little more!

Bolt Action - A Wet Weekend's Work

 Hi,

Just a quick round-up of Bolt Action goings on since my last post.

We have new DAK reinforcements in the form of a couple of Motorbikes, an Opel Blitz truck and Pioneer half-track.

I also kitbashed some weapons platforms and magnetised spare 2cm Flak, Pak 36 and panzerbusche 41 options.

I settled on a scheme (for the 4th time) for my British Paras, and began applying it, and I also rescued my Sdkfz 222 by re-applying the base coats after making a mess of highlighting before.

Bolt Action - DAK Shutzen

 Just a quickie;

Raided the pile of shame and found enough DAK bodies to make up 11 men, giving me extra shutzen units and options to beef up the existing ones. Happy days!

Happy with how these guys turned out, not bad for a couple of lunchtime painting sessions. I used parts from the Blitzkrieg early war Germans set too to help give some additional poses.

Aliens and Bolt Action - Roundup

 Hi,

Moving the progress needle slightly this week...

I finished the Aliens from the GF9 Aliens boardgame, quick and dirty with drybrushes and wash.

I also dug through the sprue pile and grabbed the remaining Bolt Action British bodies I had left to muster another regular Tommy section and a 3rd Commando LMG to allow me to rock 3 x 6 man SMG/LMG Commando sections.

As usual the Brits were a kit bash of the honking old Warlord British infantry sprue, and the later 8th Army and Paratroopers sprues, to give a bit of variety.

Warlord have a new British and Canadian set coming out soon and i'll definitely pick up a single sprue assuming it's 6 man as this would nice round out my regulars with HQ + attendent, sniper team and PIAT team.

Other than that I'm mulling over a new Bolt Action army for 2021 (yes, I know I said I wouldn't)

Current contenders are - Aussies - to make use of my Jungle terrain, and could be a cool, if historically inaccurate OpFor for my DAK.

I also fancy Soviets or maybe Italians... We'll see!

I also dusted everything Bolt Action off to get it all laid out and allow me to see what I have/want.

Anyhoo - next up, finish up re-painting the British Paras, and use up the rest of my German sprues for more basic troops.
