Grand Girls

The Grand Girls were here on Thanksgiving morning before taking off for their Thanksgiving dinner.

Our Grandsons ...Noah worked a late shift and Adam lives too far away...but we will see them at Christmas!  Hopefully all five will be there then!

I got to see Paige's beautiful rings.

Paige reports that married life is great and she and Cole had a wonderful Honeymoon minus the fact that Cole was bitten by a raccoon and had to have the series of rabies shots.

Savannah is working hard at her lash business and says that a tattoo artist has moved into the space next to hers and she wants a new tattoo.  I asked about boyfriends...but she says she is taking a break in dating.  However there is someone she is talking to.

Maddie has the three GREATs and she enjoys her job.  Life is busy for her and for her husband Brenton.

It was wonderful to see them all, the house was quiet after they left.

Sunday aftrernoon

We had company on Sunday, first my other baby brother and she who sees robins first, then two of our Grands.  Savannah and Paige came to spend some time with the old folks!

We got caught up with the goings on in their lives.

Then we went to lunch at our favorite Mexican place.

We all had a fun time!  They make us smile and laugh!

Competition

At the Wedding Shower the other day, there were guessing games, word finds and make a wedding dress out of toilet paper.

The toilet paper competition is an old one as I recall it at wedding showers years ago.  The gal in charge of the game said the TP came from the dollar store so it was two ply.

There were a number of young gals in the competition. Paige was the Judge....her sister Savannah did not win.  Even though her group was highly organized.  The dress had flowers and a train and everything!

Savannah dressed in TP

Savannah will be the last of her sisters to get engaged and married ...unless she hurries along.  Soon she turns 28 years old...she says when it happens it happens.

26

Maddie our middle Granddaughter is 26 today!  I was privileged to be present at her birth and cut the umbilical cord.   I then went with her to the nursery.  One time she asked me if she could have been switched at birth...I said " No way, I was with you from the time you were born until you were safely with your Mom."

Maddie and Chance in 2009. Maddie was 11 years old back then. She and Chance were best friends.

Here she is with her husband Brenton.
Maddie is a busy Mom working full time and taking care of three children.

Happy Birthday Maddie!  Love you now and forever!

More Snow and a birthday

 Snow.

Yes more snow.  Too bad we cannot sell it.

I took out Ranger Blue and blazed a trail for Far Guy so he could make it to the road that has been plowed.  The township has not plowed the roads in three days/three snows.  We must have about 16 inches of new snow now.  The wind is blowing and the corner fills in fast.   Kinda fun going up and down the road flattening snow and making a trail.

We are headed Up North to have my hand recheck and my stitches removed.

Today is Miss Paige's birthday!  Happy Birthday sweetie!! Paige is our youngest Granddaughter she is 23 years old.

25 years old!

There were hugs and I love yous...see you soon!  Be careful out there! (Be aware of your surroundings!!)

After lunch we drove North to visit with cousins Jack and Pat at their lake cottage.

Stories were flowing back and forth...it was a fun Sunday afternoon visit.   Brought back many memories of lunch and Sunday afternoon visits like in the "olden days."

Maddie : Growing Family

Maddie and Brenton and Hey Mikey are getting an addition to their family.

Hey Mikey may not be as happy when the new baby arrives.  For now he is two years and nine months old...and life is good.  That is all about to change!

New baby Cee Cee will be here in about 11 days...we are excited it will be wonderful to be Great again!  Great Grandpa and Great Grandma that is.

Jen took these photos.  I wasn't able to go up North for the photo shoot because Far Guy was ill.  So I shamelessly stole them for Maddie's facebook page.

Paige is older today.   Seems like only yesterday that she was born just a little early at 35 weeks.  She had episodes of not breathing and had to wear a monitor for a couple of months.

Here she is two years old.

Here she is just a few months ago.
My oh my 20 years sure goes fast.

Paige is going to school at The University Of Minnesota at Duluth, she hopes to become a Physician's Assistant someday after years of school.

Wistful Wednesday: Savannah

Twenty years ago Savannah was the flower girl at her Aunt Jen and Uncle Andy’s wedding. Savannah was almost two years old.

1998 Gene and Savannah (2)

Savannah and her Grandpa in 1998.  Savannah had blonde hair back then and Far Guy had some hair.   Savannah looks a bit teary eyed.  She did fine during practice the night before the wedding, but the day of the wedding she was a little afraid with all the people…even though she knew I was in the front row and had gum for her.  I think Grandpa was telling her that there was nothing to be afraid of.

Gene and Savannah May 2018

Here they are twenty years later.

Happy Birthday Savannah! We think you are just beautiful!

Savannah almost 22

Your smiles and giggles have always brightened our days.

The Grands in October

I took the usual shortest to tallest photo last Sunday.

The grands Oct 8 2017

There was lots of grumbling…she has heels on and I took mine off…no fair.   Adam take your spot…is HE really the tallest now?  How can that be?  Yes if he doesn’t slouch he is the tallest.

This is also their birth order left to right.

Yes Adam really is the tallest and the youngest.

Tall boys and their Dad. I wonder when Adam will grow taller than his Dad?

Each of our grands are perfect…at least that is the way we see them.  Everyone is in school except for Savannah who is working two jobs to save up for more school and paying off her student loans. Noah is working while going to school.

Congratulations Miss Paige!

Paige will attend St. Catherine’s also known as St. Kates in the cities in the Fall.  She will be playing Hockey for them.  So she will be a Wildcat!

This is what St Kates wrote about her.

Paige  – Bemidji High School
"Paige spends a lot of time on the ice. She showed vast improvement each year at BHS and is a natural wing who uses her speed well to create numerous chances per game. Coach Pezon will really help Paige take her game to the next level. It will be fun to watch her develop into a complete college player."

Paige will be majoring in Biology with Pre Med as her goal.

This summer she will be working in a Sports Equipment Store…selling you guessed it…Hockey Equipment.

It was a beautiful afternoon but a bit chilly by the lake where Paige’s group of friends gathered.  It was a bittersweet day, her last prom and looking so grown up and beautiful, in a few weeks she will graduate from High School.

Maddie: Baby belly and a ring

Our Granddaughter Maddie is engaged to be married a few years from now.  As I undertand it her beau put the ring over a game controller while she was out of the room…when she returned she discovered it and her beau went down on a knee and asked her to marry him.  So now she has a fiancé.

Maddies ring

As you probably know our first Great Grand will arrive this spring.

February 18 Maddie and Baby

26 weeks and 2 days

The baby is incubating quite nicely, but refused to kick for me.  Maddie very graciously let me feel of her belly.  I asked first…as I recall I didn’t want everyone touching my belly when I was pregnant.

I have had fun shopping and guessing what this baby will need.  I buy larger clothing.  I had a bag full that now grew into a small tote that is overflowing.  I have not started on the blanket yet either…I need to decide on a pattern and the yarn..blue.  There is a baby shower being planned.

I am looking forward to this bundle of joy…if he is as easy to care for as Maddie was as a baby then she has it made.  She didn’t thrive on breast milk, but did well on formula.  She like to eat and be burped and to be laid in her crib to go asleep all by herself…none of the snuggling with Grandma in a rocking chair for her…once you laid her in her crib and kissed her goodnight she would smile at you, turn her head and close her eyes…and in a minute or two she was fast asleep.

One time Far Guy was babysitting for the grand girls, it might have been when Paige was born.  Maddie was so fussy and he couldn’t figure out what she wanted, so he called me (I was home taking care of the Greenhouse)…I asked him what he fed her…green beans…fruit…some kind of chicken.  I told him to warm up another can of green beans and let her eat as many as she wanted… she started stuffing  them in her mouth with both hands…her Grandpa was amazed that she could eat so much. She stopped fussing after her tummy was full.  I told him how to put her to bed, kiss her goodnight and cover her with her blankie with the satin edge toward her face so she could grab the edge between her fingers.   He later reported to me that it worked just like magic.

Paige: Hockey and On a Stick

Last night we attended Paige’s last Hockey Game of the regular season.  There will be some play off games in the coming weeks.  She is tied with the record holder in her High School for the most goals in a season in Girls Varsity Hockey.

Paiges Hockey game

Paige is number 5 who ever gets that number next has some big skates to fill.

Action Shot Paige

It was a good game and Paige’s team won.  She skated hard and handled the puck well.

Paige has her own cheering section, she has a number of friends that don’t play hockey but they make a great cheering section.   They made a Paige on a stick!

Paige and her Parents, Grandfather, Uncles, Aunts, Sister and Cousins.

My other baby brother and his wife were also there to watch Paige play.  My Dad stayed at home, he was not feeling up to attending the game. It was a cold damp night and hockey arenas are cold places to spend an evening.

Well done Miss Paige!
