Engaged!

Youngest Grandson Adam became engaged to his gal Courtney when they were in Hawaii! We are thrilled for them they are an awesome couple.  I imagine it will be next Winter or Spring before there is a wedding…but you never know.

Congratulations Adam and Courtney! Love you both!

Focus

My word for 2024 is/was focus.   Presently I am working on the five Grands photo albums.

I ordered extra pages. My Mom had some school photos and a few photos that I scanned from when I did the big sort.  I ordered photos three time from Walmart...the last bunch arrived yesterday.

The Grandboys have plenty of photos because their Mom is a good picture taker....however this view is from Grandma's camera.  The Grandgirls have no photos.  They are left with just Grandma's view.

I have a few photos at home in an older photo storage box...those are mainly Savannah when she was little.  So this project is not done...done...but at least it is moving forward and all caught up until December 2024.

Far Guy is about the same, me too, we are managing our care and Sadie.  Maddie stops by to walk Sadie and check on the elderly. Some members of this household are enjoying a few days of Island warmth over Spring Break.

Grand Girls

The Grand Girls were here on Thanksgiving morning before taking off for their Thanksgiving dinner.

Our Grandsons ...Noah worked a late shift and Adam lives too far away...but we will see them at Christmas!  Hopefully all five will be there then!

I got to see Paige's beautiful rings.

Paige reports that married life is great and she and Cole had a wonderful Honeymoon minus the fact that Cole was bitten by a raccoon and had to have the series of rabies shots.

Savannah is working hard at her lash business and says that a tattoo artist has moved into the space next to hers and she wants a new tattoo.  I asked about boyfriends...but she says she is taking a break in dating.  However there is someone she is talking to.

Maddie has the three GREATs and she enjoys her job.  Life is busy for her and for her husband Brenton.

It was wonderful to see them all, the house was quiet after they left.

Our grandsons

The wedding was a good time to spend some time with our grandsons Noah and Adam...and of course their parents Jen and Andy.  Jen and Andy rented a large enough place for all of us to be comfortable.  Far Guy and I just stayed one night.

Our oldest Grandson Noah, he took a vacation day from his job at Simplot in Grand Forks ND to come to the wedding.

Our youngest grandson and the baby of the entire family...Adam.

Adam has a gal named Courtney, we like her too!  They both live in Western ND where Courtney is attending school and Adam is working at Menards and planning to go back to school Winter semester.

 A wonderful group photo!

Time always goes too fast when you are around the people you love most in the world.  We get to see Noah quite often...Adam not so much since he moved.

Grands and Greats

Our youngest Great Granddaughter, Peach is flanked by two very handsome young men.  They almost look like security guards!

The handsome young men are our two favorite Grandsons; Adam and Noah. Adam and Noah's parents are our youngest daughter Jen and her husband Andy.

Where is the littlest piggy tailed Peach heading?  She had been at the motel with her siblings and her Dad and a family friend who helped with their care...because their Mom was busy being a Matron of Honor.

Where ever is she headed?  She had quite an entourage....all people who love her; Adam, Noah, Jen, Hey Mikey and Andy with Cee Cee.

Peach had activated her Mom radar!

And then they were photo bombed!
But you get the idea.

Maddie and Peach.   Maddie is our oldest daughter Trica and her ex husband Richard's middle daughter  (they were divorced after being married for 24 years)...and Peach belongs to Maddie and Brenton.

The wedding was beautiful.  I will share more photos as the days go on.  I will wait until Paige posts some photos on facebook to show you what a beautiful bride she was.  I had to get what photos I could and not agitate the professional photographers.
We are safely back at home.

Happy Fall

Lots of the leaves are just turning brown and falling off the trees...especially in our Oaks.

Fall is here, our temperatures in the 80's might be history along with the humidity.  The potato harvest has begun after the temperatures cooled off.

The little Asters are blooming quite nicely.

Far Guy is feeling a tad bit better, improvement is slow.  Yesterday we recycled, searched for something lost that was eventually found and went out for lupper at our favorite Mexican place...we can still sit out on the patio there.  One more Sunday lupper and they will close until next Spring.

Grandson Noah has Covid, praying he makes a full recovery.  Grandson Adam has started a new job in Western North Dakota.  The giggly Grand girls Savannah and Paige called me on my birthday.  Maddie messaged me that Grandpa should spoil me all day long.

So Fall is here, I wonder if we will have good Fall color or not. Soon I will begin mulching leaves with the lawn mower.

Oh and some of the Lilacs are looking better with new growth and some are even blooming again...who knew?

Paige: Wedding Shower

Yesterday I attended the wedding shower for Paige, our youngest granddaughter and #3 Grand.

The wedding is later this year.  All her Aunts on her Father's side of the family planned the shower.  There was a bit of champagne, fruit, cheese, small fancy sandwiches and cupcakes.

Sisters; Savannah #1  Grand and Maddie #2 Grand will both be Maid/Matron of Honor at the wedding and I think about six other bridesmaids.

Paige got many really nice gifts.  It was a fun afternoon.  Jen stopped by for a quick visit before and after the wedding shower and we rode into town together.

26

Maddie our middle Granddaughter is 26 today!  I was privileged to be present at her birth and cut the umbilical cord.   I then went with her to the nursery.  One time she asked me if she could have been switched at birth...I said " No way, I was with you from the time you were born until you were safely with your Mom."

Maddie and Chance in 2009. Maddie was 11 years old back then. She and Chance were best friends.

Here she is with her husband Brenton.
Maddie is a busy Mom working full time and taking care of three children.

Happy Birthday Maddie!  Love you now and forever!

Lunch and smoke

Sunday afternoon we drove over to Laporte and had lunch with Savannah, Jen and Andy.  It was a good time to catch up on Savannah's recent travels and spend some time with her!

She is as smiley and pretty as ever!

The wildfire smoke has invaded our part of Minnesota again.

Oh boy, our oldest Grand is 27 years old today.  Hopefully we will take her to lunch one day soon and take her photo.

I scanned a couple of old photos. These were taken the day of her baptism in early August of 1996.

Front row: Trica ( Savannah's Mom), Jen with Savannah, Far Guy's Mom, my Mom and my Dad.
Back row: Far Guy, Me and Dick ( Savannah's Dad)

Savannah was lots of firsts!  She was Trica and Dicks first daughter, our first Granddaughter, and our parents first Great Grandchild, and Jens first niece.

Proof that I really was there.  We took off on vacation soon after she was born and returned the day before the baptism...we had been camping out West.

 Happy Birthday Savannah!!

Adam: Graduates

Adam graduated with an AA degree ( Associated Arts).  His parents took him out to celebrate and we were invited along with his brother Noah!  We met at Harry's Steakhouse in Downtown Grand Forks...the food was excellent.

Adam is working full time, he is an assistant manager at an eating establishment.  He is enjoying time in his apartment and recently got a couch and a television so life is good for him.   He is thinking about going back to school to become a History teacher.

It was a fun evening with both of our grandsons!

They have grown up way too fast!

Whats new

The area West of us that was clear cut had huge piles of brush so that very windy day they decided to burn it.

We could smell the smoke outside for a couple of days.  Then it rained...

Our oldest Grandson Noah has pneumonia in one lung, they gave him IV antibiotics in the Emergency Room and we hear he was feeling much better on Monday.

Our second oldest Granddaughter Maddie got a job in Grand Forks North Dakota, she and her husband and the little ones are moving late this week from Michigan.   It will be good to have them closer!

Jen and Andy and another couple that they have known for a long time formed a partnership and bought a building ( previously a Town Hall converted into a residence) in a small lake town.  It is really a cute place, I helped do some cleaning and painting there.  Right now it sleeps 13 plus people and has three bathrooms.  It has room for expansion in the loft and in the basement.  The part they are using now is 5,000 plus square feet. They will use it for a craft retreat and a gathering place.   Jen's annual Craft Retreat will be held there this Fall.   It is an hour drive from our home.  Far Guy went along one day and he and oldest Grand Savannah put together some craft carts.  Fun to see Jen and Andy tackle a project.

23

Our oldest Grandson is 23, his birthday was yesterday.

One day last winter, he came over and asked his Mom to shave his head...so she ran the hair clippers over his head and then I shaved  his head.

I warned him that his head was going to be cold!

He let his hair grow back little by little.   He said he enjoyed being free of hair care for a time.

Happy Birthday Noah!

I should have written about his birthday yesterday but it snuck up on me much like his zooming from birth to 23.

The Two and the Five

We celebrated Christmas yesterday here with all of our Grands and Great Grands!

The two Great Grands took turns putting the star on the tree with a little help from Uncle Andy.

The last teenager

Our last teenager turns twenty today...all our Grands are in their twenties now.  I gave him a couple of early hugs for his birthday!  He wasn't so sure about turning twenty.  He is our Grand that always makes me smile.  I was so fortunate to be there when he was born...those are special moments a Gramma never forgets.

This was the photo I chose for his birthday card.  I took this photo in 2011 when he was ten years old!  He has grown some since then and is now the tallest person in our family.

He attends a Community College with an undecided major.  He has a gal...but we have not met her yet...maybe someday.

He has planned a dinner out with his brother and his parents for his birthday.

Happy Birthday Adam!  You are one of my favorite young gentlemen!

Love you!  Gramma

Grand Day

Jen took a photo of the Grands lined up.

Left to right oldest to youngest.

Left to right tallest to shortest.

They are Adam = in school and working, Noah = working, Paige = working and waiting to get into a school program, Maddie = working and  Savannah = in school and working.

We are thankful they all have jobs and homes/apartments and are healthy!

There was a bit of a tallness challenge between Paige and Maddie...Maddie was disappointed that she lost.

Sometimes I still see them as small children.

We are blessed to have them in our lives!

19

Remember when you were 19?  Baby Adam is 19 years old today.  I suppose I should stop calling him baby Adam...he is the youngest of our grandchildren hence always the baby.

He cooks...

plays guitar...

and harmonica.

He is a busy young man.  He is taking all kinds of computer classes at Northland Community and Technical College and even takes a Speech class where guess who is the teacher? (Same person that gave birth to him 19 years ago on a Labor Day.)   He works part time at a eating establishment where he is a prep cook....and he likes to spend time with his girl friend too!

Happy Birthday all grown up baby Adam!  Your Grandmother loves you!
