"Where there is a shell, There is a way"

Hey 👋

My name is Noam Alum, a QA Engineer and Network Specialist, and a proud member of the AlmaLinux Foundation.

Back in my first year of high school I never imagined I'd be into Linux, networking, or programming (etc), but when I asked my dad for a job at his office he didn’t just give me a simple job like cleaning up; instead, he handed me a stack of papers with a challenge - complete these tasks and you’re hired!

Note

if I recal right it was creating a LAMP server and installing WordPress on it.

At the time, he was running a web hosting company named JetServer, and Linux became a huge part of my learning curve, work, and eventually my life. Among all the distributions I’ve encountered, AlmaLinux stands out, It's the first Linux distro I ever used and it holds a special place in my heart.

What now?

Fast forward to today - I’ve had the privilege of working in the tech industry for several years.

I spent nearly four years at JetServer Cloud LTD as a System Administrator, where I developed a strong focus on automation and scripting. Over time, that passion for efficiency naturally guided me toward automation and QA-oriented work.

After that, I joined JetApps as an Automation Specialist, where I worked on automating CI/CD pipelines and QA testing for JetBackup 5. There, I focused on streamlining development workflows and ensuring smooth, efficient software releases - an experience that continues to influence my approach to testing and process design today.

Upon finishing my ICT and Networking studies with excellence, supported by the IDF, I began my service at the J6 & Cyber Defense Directorate, where I worked on networking research projects focused on routing protocols and network optimization.

Following that, I joined Hoshen (Notz) as a Network Technician, where I was responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing complex network infrastructures across multiple IDF environments.

Currently, I’m part of the QA team at Maof (Erez), where I design and implement automated testing solutions using Ixia and Python, combining my background in networking, automation, and QA to deliver robust and efficient testing frameworks.

Beyond work, I continue contributing to open-source projects with AlmaLinux, staying involved in the community that first inspired my journey into Linux and open-source technologies.
