It would really help me understand this bug. As I only have the genuine JBC cartridges it is difficult for me to test others. And yes, I think it has something to do with non-JBC cartridges having different resistnace.

The video shows that the temperature jumps on version 3.4.2. I have seen messages from buyers of Chinese soldering tips who wrote about large temperature jumps on soldering stations from different manufacturers, both jbc and Chinese aixun and others. When replacing the stinger with a more expensive one, the instability of maintaining the temperature did not manifest itself. The conclusion is obvious. Apparently, the operation of the PID controller has been changed in newer versions, and large temperature fluctuations cause a malfunction.

So, just so I understand you:

• In firmware versions 3.5.0 and newer the heating is stopped and AxxSolder goes back into sleep mode.
• In earlier firmware (v3.4.2) the heating is not stopped. The tip reaches the set temperature but is very instable.
• This hapens with a non-genuine JBC cartridge. with a genuine JBC cartridge everything works fine

There is a problem with measuring the temperature of the stinger. I have tip that have stabilized their temperature after warming up and are working properly on version 3.5.2. However, there are tip that have not been affected by warming up. I believe that the issue lies in the PID controller, as the large variation in the measured temperature causes the algorithm to malfunction.

The temperature variations in your video is probably not from the PID controller oscillating, it is too fast and random. I think it is the temperature measurement that is wrong. Either there is capacitance in the cheap chineese cartridges or the thermocouple is bad.

I I could deactivete the safety feature in firmware but that feels like the wrong way to go.. Even if the safety feature is off the temperature readings would be unstable.

Maybe I should try to get one of these cheap cartridges and look with an oscilloscope what is happening.
Which brand of bad cartridges are you experiencing this with @ingenegra and @KorneevDm ?
