This script simulates the sound absorption performance of a multi-depth microperforated panel (MPP) absorber based on the Quadratic Residue Sequence (QRS) arrangement of cavity depths. The model evaluates the Sound Absorption Coefficient (SAC) across a frequency range using Maa’s impedance model, while varying key MPP design parameters such as:
- Hole diameter (d)
- Perforation spacing (b)
- Number of cavities (N)
- Maximum cavity depth (Dmax) The simulation compares the effects of these parameters on overall absorption behavior and identifies broadband performance trends. Results are presented as 3D SAC plots (Frequency vs. Variable vs. SAC). In addition, the perforation ratios (σ) for all sweep conditions are displayed in the MATLAB Command Window for reference.
