A follow-on question that I have is, if someone already has BOINC running with VirtualBox, amd BOINC is the only thing that is using it, is it best to uninstall both BOINC and VirtualBox, before reinstalling BOINC unencumbered, then instaling PodMan, or can VirtualBox be uninstalled after installing PodMan? I've seen no guidance on this, despite seeing BOINC messages that state PodMan is not compatible with VirtuallBox. |

If you want to remove VirtualBox - you can do it any time (you even don't need to reinstall BOINC, just relaunch it after you installed WSL with Podman). |

Not quite what I am asking. I've already installed Podman, it does show up in wsl2. I did this without uninstalling VirtualBox. So for right now, both are installed on mt system. How do I check for BOINC jobs that are using VirtualBox? |

I blind-uninstalled VirtualBox; I did not know how to check for VirtualBox being used by BOINC. Restarted. Noticed that BOINC manager was saying no usable WSL accounts detected and no Docker available. I am not sure if it is related, but my computer was waiting to reboot and update, I had left it sleeping thru Patch Tuesday after uninstalling VirtualBox the day before. I did this, then in the local admin account I opened Terminal with PowerShell active, reran the "wsl -d boinc-buda-runner" command on the previously downloaded container image file. Seems to have corrected the issue. Attaching the beginning of my log. |

I suspended BOINC but it still says it can't install due to it already running.
Of course, I get a pop up every time I open BOINC saying "Another instance of BOINC Manager is already running."

You can try a new installer, but if still says you have a boinc running - then you need to exit boinc client. |

Please also keep in mind: BOINC Manager and BOINC client are two different applications, and closing BOINC Manager only will not close BOINC client automatically |

I have a problem that, to my ignorance, seems similar.
But this will print NO (=0) messages, and the BOINC manager won't detect any WSL distributions. |

Same result. Boinc continues to say that there are projects that require
Docker, and WSL has no active distributions.

I see that your Intel GPU was successfully discovered by BOINC. So you should go to the project settings on the WorldCommunityGrid website and enable them there (I don't remember exactly where this setting is located, but you can search on the forums: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/forum_index.php |
