Iβm Puertorican π΅π· and currently finishing my PhD in Plant Pathology.
My PhD research focuses on using a collection of biocontrol Pseudomonas to manage Pythium-induced diseases in hydroponically grown leafy greens. I also performed extensive genomic analyses of these isolates, including:
- Genome mining
- Phylogenetic analysis
- Comparative genomics
- Pangenome analysis
Alongside my doctoral work, Iβm a Bioinformatics Specialist at the Puerto Rico Public Health Lab, where I:
- Process samples & perform NGS sequencing
- Analyze sequencing data for surveillance of foodborne pathogens and SARS-CoV-2
Iβm passionate about bioinformatics and everything "micro." My main interests include:
- Human & plant pathogens
- Probiotic microbes
- Genomics & pathogen surveillance
Bioinformatics
- Linux command line
- R (data visualization, report generation, statistical analysis)
Some of my Other Technical SKills
- Microorganism handling (oomycetes, bacteria, fungi, viruses)
- DNA/RNA NGS sequencing
- Hydroponics
- Biological control
- Nextflow
