LOBO Marketplace Workspace

Monorepo Node.js React Vite MongoDB

Local marketplace workspace with separate backend and frontend apps.

Motto

Discover and book trusted local services in minutes.

Project Summary

LOBO is a local-services marketplace that helps people discover and book cafes, salons, garages, workshops, tours, and restaurants. Users can browse visually with filters and maps, compare availability and ratings, and complete bookings quickly. Providers can onboard and list their services while customers manage their profiles and bookings in one place.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: React + Vite, custom CSS, Leaflet maps
  • Backend: Node.js + Express, MongoDB + Mongoose, JWT auth

  • Includes its own Vite client scripts

2) frontend

Dedicated modern frontend application.

  • React + Vite UI
  • Custom CSS theme and layout system
  • Route-level pages for local search, booking, profile, and assistant

Quick Start

1. Install dependencies

From the workspace root:

npm install

Install app dependencies:

cd booking
npm install
cd ../frontend
npm install

2. Configure environment for backend

Create .env inside booking:

PORT=5000
MONGODB_URI=your_mongodb_connection_string
JWT_SECRET=your_secret
GOOGLE_API_KEY=your_gemini_api_key

3. Run apps

Run backend app:

cd booking
npm run dev

Run booking client:

cd booking
npm run dev:client

Run dedicated frontend app:

cd frontend
npm run dev

Build Commands

Booking app:

  • npm run build:client
  • npm run preview:client

Frontend app:

  • npm run build
  • npm run preview

Notes

  • Keep secrets in .env only.
  • Start MongoDB before backend launch.
  • Use each folder's own scripts while inside that folder.
