Publish hostname with mDNS (macvlan container) #228
I'm using a macvlan network to run steam-headless, to avoid having to use the host network and give the container it's own IP. It's very convenient to have all the ports exposed in this new IP.
The problem is that now I need to give the new container a hostname (for convenience). For the noVNC port I can use a reverse proxy, but for the rest of the ports that's not an option. In the moonlight client I want to type steam-headless.local instead of 192.168.1.241.
There are two options:
Add an entry manually to my local DNS
Use mDNS
What is your feature request?
Add mDNS deamon to the docker image. I'm not an expert on this but I think that's what Home Assistant and ESPHome containers are doing.
Are there any workarounds?
Adding the container's IP manually to the local DNS server does the trick, but it's manual work.
