[bug] itch.io launcher does not handle downloaded .7z archives correctly #928
Games that download as .7z archives via the itch.io launcher do not extract to finish installation.
Trying to launch a game after it downloads throws an error:
There is no Windows program configured to open this type of file.
I am using the Desktop version of NSL on CachyOS Linux.
This bug was experienced while trying to play Voices of the Void.
I was able to work around this by extracting the .7z archive into the game directory, updating the butler.db verdict with proper candidates, updating installed_size to the real extracted size, and verifying that the itch.io launcher sees it as installed.
After doing this and launching VotV via the itch.io launcher, the game started, and NSL automatically detected and added VotV to Steam.
@Razwerkz also besides these launcher bugs how does nsl work as a whole on CatchyOs? I havnt done much testing on there, the script itself loads up fine and the scanner works?
Generally, it works pretty good. I don't have any issues out of it, save for the few things I've had tickets opened for. At this time, I only use Steam, EA, Epic, GOG, itch.io, Rockstar, and Ubisoft. Rockstar seems to be the most problematic for me, but now we know the root cause of that.
Oh, and VotV is added to my Steam library now, so we can close this one. Guess I forgot to update the ticket, before.
Wait, shit; I think that was from my unpacking of the files manually. My mistake
