[Feature]: Keep Chrome Extension updated in Chrome Web Store #22021

Description

@grantbarrett

Is the feature relevant to the Firefox PDF Viewer?

Yes

Feature description

The version of the Chrome pdf.js extension in the Chrome Web Store has not been updated since 4.6.129, in October 2024. That is woefully behind. While I am able to build the extension for myself with the latest pdf.js, it might be good for the community if the extension were kept updated there, or offered here as a download. The current maintainer of the extension appears to be @Rob--W according to Github docs and their website.

    Is there any feature you are looking for? I don't regularly publish Chrome extension updates, only once in a while and as needed. The published extension's ability to view PDF does not decay without updates.

    I am planning to publish an update once a new version of the extension is ready, based on the mimeHandler API that recently landed in Chrome (which I also reviewed while it was developed - #6444 (comment)).

    Thank you for the response. There is no particular feature I am needing; however, one assumes that more recent versions are more capable, have bug or security fixes, or have other advantages. Why else would there be changes? Plus, not being updated for two years on the Chrome Web Store sends a signal that the extension is stale or is not maintained, when that is not the case.
