[Request] Add Saudi Riyal Sign (, U+20C1), Rufiyaa Sign (, U+20C2), UAE Dirham Sign (, U+20C3) and Omani Rial Sign (, U+20C4) to Noto Sans, Noto Serif, and Noto Mono #571
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Noto Sans, Noto Serif, and Noto Mono don't include the new currency sign characters added to latest Unicode versions. These characters are Saudi Riyal Sign (, U+20C1, added on Unicode 17.0), Rufiyaa Sign (, U+20C2, added on Unicode 18.0), UAE Dirham Sign (, U+20C3, added on Unicode 18.0) and Omani Rial Sign (, U+20C4, added on Unicode 18.0)
Describe the solution you'd like
Noto Sans, Noto Serif, and Noto Mono should add Saudi Riyal Sign (, U+20C1, added on Unicode 17.0), Rufiyaa Sign (, U+20C2, added on Unicode 18.0), UAE Dirham Sign (, U+20C3, added on Unicode 18.0) and Omani Rial Sign (, U+20C4, added on Unicode 18.0).
Describe alternatives you've considered
None.
Additional context
These currency signs were launched by local central banks in those countries and added or slated to be added in the next weeks to the Unicode Standard.
I can confirm that these symbols don’t render in an up-to-date Chromebook laptop due to their absence in the bundled Noto system fonts. An update containing these would be welcome.
Supporting this request. U+20C4 OMANI RIAL SIGN was accepted by the UTC on 2026-01-22 for Unicode 18.0. The Central Bank of Oman publishes the official artwork and rules for typeface designers, including digit-height alignment and placement to the left of the numeral, at https://cbo.gov.om/omrsymbol. The Noto fonts are the fallback for this character on Android and Google Fonts, so coverage here matters for products that cannot rely on OS fonts.

I've heard today that this will be commissioned. I don't have a date for when it will be drawn, but it is going to happen.
